Crab Factory at SS2 Petaling Jaya Original Louisiana Boil

Much have been written about Crab Factory SS2 Petaling Jaya; which is touted to serves the Original Louisiana Boil Style seafood. The outlet at SS2 was opened more than 3 years ago. We had the opportunity to try out one of the pioneers that started this Louisiana Boil In Malaysia recently to discover the difference in taste with the other restaurant that offers the same fare.

Crab Factory SS2 Petaling Jaya Address
21 Jalan SS2/64
47300  Petaling Jaya

Located in the bustling SS2 Petaling Jaya, Crab Factory offers a no-frills seafaring decoration, a seafood restaurant that pays tribute to the original flavours of the Louisiana style seafood.

Inspired by the communal seafood boil get-togethers that are part and parcel of southern American festivities, Crab Factory is all about dishing up tantalising Cajun-style seafood cook in a bag and emptied directly onto long dining tables to be shared among friends.

Our Meat Crabs set (RM175.00) was the star attractions which was cooked with renowned Signature Southern Bang sauce. Pair these lip-smacking seafood mains with shallot rice which comes with the order of a set dish.

or the Fried Mini Mantou (RM9.90) to lick up all the delicious sauces from the table.

Next, we had the Crabs cooked in thick Creamy Lemak Sauce with an add-on sausage (RM 125.90). The fresh giant crab was a real delight, as we can taste the natural salt fresh taste of the crab meat.

After which we had the Prawns in Garlic Butter Sauce (500 gm RM 55.00). Nice bouncy succulent prawn which has a light buttery garlic taste. Perfect for those that like the seafood to be non-spicy.

We particularly like the Baby Octopus in Thai Sambal Sauce (500 gm RM 33.00) which has a garlicky sourish spicy taste. The bouncy texture of the meat was proof to the freshness of the baby octopus. It was the perfect match to the fragrant shallot rice that we had.

The last dish is the Yabbies (500 gm RM 83.00) which was cooked with the Spicy Plum Sauce.

The name Kimi-Ya, which stand for dining in your home in Japanese makes for a setting of dining in your own home. One of the main goals of Chef Khim is to enable its customer to enjoy the setting and ambience; dining with his selection of fresh and premium delicacies at affordable prices.

KIMI-YA Japanese Restaurant Address

Kimi-Ya offers a range of more than 200 Japanese speciality dishes for your to choose from. With a setting of a traditional Japanese home adorn by the bamboo decor, it offers patrons with a Japanese home atmosphere.

As it was Chinese New Year, our review started with a Japanese Yee Sang (RM38.00 for 4-6 pax). So, what makes a Japanese Yee Sang differently is the sauce that is provided. Here we have the Chef prepared Yuzu Sauce which makes this Yee Sang a little bit special.

Next; we had the Soft Shell Crab Salada (RM 28.00). Laden with garden fresh, raw veggies with some tasty soft shell crab, served topped with crispy thin deep fried salmon skin and fish roe, it was a delightful start to our dinner. We had the salad with the Goma sauce but you can also choose your salad with Yuzu or Wafu sauce instead.

After our salad, the next main that came was the Sashimi Platter. Depending on the number of persons and the number of items, you can either order it with 4, 6 or 7 type of fresh delicacies such as Salmon, Tuna and so forth. such as Salmon, Tuna, Yellow Tail Fish, Ikura and so forth.

With prices starting from RM 50.00, RM 90.00 to RM 150.00 for the Sashimi Moriawase Set.

Coming up next is the Japanese Ayu Shioyaki (RM 28.00). This fish is also known as a sweet fish where its meat has a very natural sweet taste of the fish. We like this fish as there is little condiments that are used to grilled it and also it is very easy to be eaten as there is a method in which all the bones can be easily be removed from the fish. Do ask the Chef, for the method to remove the fish bones.

Currently, Kimiya Japanese Restaurant is running a special promotion which is the Yaki Otoro (RM29.00) - a value for money promotion especially for fans of Otoro. The chunky Otoro is lightly pan fried with in-house made teriyaki sauce.

Next on the table is some the sushi department, the first of which that was served to us is the Unagi Avacado Roll RM 28 Avocado, Wrapped in with Omelette and cucumber roll with Flamed Eel.

While the second sushi is the KIMI-YA Special Roll (RM36,00) which consist of ingredients that include Avocado, Omelette and cucumber roll with Garlic Mayonnaise with sliced flamed tuna & black Caviar Topping.

From the grill section, we had the Hotate To Kinoko No Mentai Yaki (Grilled Scallop and Mushroom With Seared Marinated Roe Mayonnaise) RM 28.00.

Moving on, Chef Khim serves us the (Nabe Mono) Salmon Kabuto Miso Nabe RM 23.00 with the Salmon Fish head as the main ingredient and comes with an assortment of vegetables.

Next dish is another Hot Pot dish which is Goushuu No Wagyu Shabu Shabu Japanese Hot Pot.

For dessert, we had the Abekawa Mochi RM 10

The final dessert is the Mizu Shingen Mochi RM 10 aka Raindrop Cake, which is served with brown sugar syrup and served along with soybean powder.
