Li Yen, the award-winning Cantonese restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur has specially designed its special Chinese New Year 2018 feasts to welcome the Year of the Earth Dog. Its' Executive Chinese Chef Leung Kwai Hong has put on a fine display of culinary artistry in his creation of the exclusive set menus, alongside a seasonal selection of delicate Dim Sum ideal for gatherings with family and loved ones.

An exquisite selection of menus with traditional delicacies and signature dishes are available for lunch and dinner, showcasing the best of Cantonese fine dining. To start off there is the Prosperity Yee Sang with an option to include salmon, tuna or abalone to adds to a ritzy twist to the traditional festive Lou Sang.

You can select from three menus that are specially curated for lunch which feature dishes such as the Deep-Fried Meat and Minced Prawn Roll, Steamed Oyster with Sea Moss and Steamed Siew Mai With Crab Meat from the Dim Sum selection

as well as Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with Abalone and Mushroom, Chicken Simmered in Bouillon, Roasted Duck, Deep-Fried Glutinous Rice with Yam and Stir-Fried Prawns with Haw Sauce.

For the dinner menus you can start off with a Braised Soup with Shredded Superior Fish Maw, Bird’s Nest and Minced Chicken, Double-Boiled Abalone Soup with Chicken, Sea Cucumber and Dried Scallop, Steamed Bamboo Fish With Sliced Ham,

while for the meat dishes you can have  Braised Pork Knuckle with Dried Oysters, Sea Moss and Barbecued Crispy Suckling Pig and Li Yen Special Roasted Chicken which has a nice crackling skin while the meat was firm and succulent.

Steamed Clay Pot Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat 

A traditional favourite on the menu for this festive CNY season at Li Yen is the Steamed Clay Pot Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat. Made with Chinese sausages specially flown in from Hong Kong, this dish requires up to 45 minutes to prepare for the flavours of the vegetables, Chinese herbs and meat to infuse into the rice leaving a distinct and rich flavour.

End your sumptuous meal on a sweet note with a delectable selection of desserts such as the Fried ‘Nian Gao’ with Deep-Fried Sesame Balls, Double-Boiled Red Bean Cream with Glutinous Rice Balls and Double-Boiled Glutinous Rice Balls in Almond Cream.


Available from 15 February until 18 February 2018, the lunch set menus are priced from MYR 1,388 nett per table of 10 persons. The dinner set menus are priced from MYR 1,888 nett per table of 10 persons. Should guests wish to enjoy the Lunar New Year specialities before 15 February, they are available with advance notice.

Representatives from Tmall World will also be visiting these homes; bringing them gifts in the lead up to the celebrations. 


The event, depicting a mega reunion style Chinese New Year dinner, will bring 1000 Malaysian consumers as well as children from charity homes together, to celebrate the Lunar New Year in what is set to be a meaningful, and memorable experience for all.

Poon Choi is a Cantonese cuisine served in large wooden, porcelain or metal basins due to the communal style of consumption. The Chinese name, transliterated as Poon Choi, has been variously translated as "big bowl feast" or basin cuisine.


Each ingredient is chosen for its auspicious sounding Cantonese name; like the dried oyster is "Good News" while prawns are "Laughter" and Black Moss is "Great Fortune" which are some of the ingredients used by Chef Patrick for this Chinese New Year 2018 Poon Choi.

On the set A, the following are the dishes that will be served starting with Hot and Sour Sze Chuan Seafood Soup;



followed by the Roasted Crispy Chicken With Cucumber Plum Sauce;


Next will be the Deep Fried Red Snapper with Sweet and Sour Sauce, and for the Prawns; the Stir Fried Prawns Cooked With Salted Egg Yolk is a must try.


While the vegetable dish for Set A is the Stir Fried Broccoli With Mushroom Dumpling and to end the Set A dining is the Steamed Lotus Rice With Chicken and Yam''.


As for dessert; you will be served the Chilled HoneyDew in Rock Melon paired with Baked Spiral Lotus Puff.


For the Set B; you will be served with the Braised Crabmeat and Seaweed Soup With Dried Scallop followed by Roasted Crispy Chicken With Cucumber Plum Sauce.


Next is the Steamed Garoupa 'Hong Kong' Style.

Marriott Hotel Putrajaya and Palm Garden Hotel Hosts 2 Nursing Homes For Chinese New Year 2017



More than 60 senior citizens from the Lovely Nursing Home, Petaling Jaya and Persatuan Amal Murni Kajang were feted to the annual Chinese New Year charity luncheon by the Marriott Hotel Putrajaya and Palm Garden Hotel of IOI Resort City.


Held at the ballroom of the Marriott Hotel Putrajaya, the luncheon kicked off with a warm welcome speech by Putrajaya Marriott Hotel general manager Simon Yong, who wished everybody a prosperous year ahead.


A joyous tossing of yee sang followed, with many wishing for a wealthy and healthy year ahead.



While enjoying the scrumptious Chinese buffet dishes and Yee Sang,



Guests were treated to a live performance; starting with Little Angels (a group of talented young girls) that perform various upbeat and traditional dance performance.



The guests were also serenaded with some popular classic number by the resident three-piece band.


To end the celebration, a Lion Dance performance by the Junwai Dragon and Lion Dance troupe set the stage to awe the audience with their energetic and acrobatic performance.
