One of the fundamental thing about eating at Fatt Kee is the quality of the seafood that is provided to customers. As the turnover of the business is very good, fresh seafood becomes the accepted norms. The only downside of eating at Fatt Kee Roast Fish Pudu is the waiting time. This might be a turn off especially those customers that are trying out the dishes at Fatt Kee. To overcome this, just be there early i.e when they start for business, you can be assured of minimum waiting time.


At Fatt Kee Roast Fish Pudu, they continue to innovate a better taste and experience to its customers to enjoy to the fullest extend the variety of seafood offering and has not come with a special colossal platter which starts with a small set (RM288)


Next, the medium set which is at RM588.00


and finally, the large Set which is RM788.00


For a topped up of just RM11.00, you get your platter with a Carp Fish Head added in.


Each Platter comes with 8 type of seafood which is Flower Crab, Slipper Lobster, Fresh Water Prawns, Sea Prawn, Scallop, Green Mussel, Clams, White Squid and Lala.


It also comes bedded with the Radish, Bean Sprout and Preserved Vegetables to balance off your meal with the right broth that is added with the spicy level that you can take. From our experience, it is best to stick to the mild version of the spicy level that will be more suited to the most palate.

Crab Factory at SS2 Petaling Jaya Original Louisiana Boil


Much have been written about Crab Factory SS2 Petaling Jaya; which is touted to serves the Original Louisiana Boil Style seafood. The outlet at SS2 was opened more than 3 years ago. We had the opportunity to try out one of the pioneers that started this Louisiana Boil In Malaysia recently to discover the difference in taste with the other restaurant that offers the same fare.

Located in the bustling SS2 Petaling Jaya, Crab Factory offers a no-frills seafaring decoration, a seafood restaurant that pays tribute to the original flavours of the Louisiana style seafood.


Inspired by the communal seafood boil get-togethers that are part and parcel of southern American festivities, Crab Factory is all about dishing up tantalising Cajun-style seafood cook in a bag and emptied directly onto long dining tables to be shared among friends.


Our Meat Crabs set (RM175.00) was the star attractions which was cooked with renowned Signature Southern Bang sauce. Pair these lip-smacking seafood mains with shallot rice which comes with the order of a set dish.


or the Fried Mini Mantou (RM9.90) to lick up all the delicious sauces from the table.


Next, we had the Crabs cooked in thick Creamy Lemak Sauce with an add-on sausage (RM 125.90). The fresh giant crab was a real delight, as we can taste the natural salt fresh taste of the crab meat.


After which we had the Prawns in Garlic Butter Sauce (500 gm RM 55.00). Nice bouncy succulent prawn which has a light buttery garlic taste. Perfect for those that like the seafood to be non-spicy.


We particularly like the Baby Octopus in Thai Sambal Sauce (500 gm RM 33.00) which has a garlicky sourish spicy taste. The bouncy texture of the meat was proof to the freshness of the baby octopus. It was the perfect match to the fragrant shallot rice that we had.


The last dish is the Yabbies (500 gm RM 83.00) which was cooked with the Spicy Plum Sauce.

Fei Fei Crab Restaurant @ Damansara Jaya Petaling Jaya

For crabs aficionados in Petaling Jaya, you can enjoy these mouth-watering and other specialty crabs dishes at Fei Fei Crab Restaurant @Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya which was opened for more than 1 months.

Starting our review with the new lineup is the Seafood Platter - Special Sweet Thai Steam. The sauce has a spicy sourish taste which went fantastically well with a bowl of steaming white rice. For seafood lovers, this platter consists of the Mussels, Squids, Japanese Clams, Scallop, Sea Prawn and Mud Crab.



Each ingredient is nicely presented on the dish and offer the diners the opportunity to feast our eyes with such beautiful parade of seafood. One of the key things about this platter is the freshness of each of the ingredients that were used for the dishes.


The next dish which is the Oreo Cheese Crabs is another example of the specially crafted crab dishes at Fei Fei Crab Restaurant that will challenge your taste buds. This creamy cheesy affair is both savory and sweet with the enclosed crumbs of the Oreo biscuits. With a firm plump texture of the crab meat (size XXXL), it was finger licking goodness.


The sauce can be dipped with the Fried Man Tou.


Another one of the specialties at Fei Fei Crab Restaurant is the French Crab. One of the peculiar things about French Crab is that it must be eaten fresh i.e not the frozen type as the meat texture will be very different.


For today, the Chef has cooked up the White Wine Steamed French Crab. I love this cooking style for crabs, as you can really taste the natural salty sweet taste and the firm texture of the fresh crab. Steamed with a bed of eggs and sprinkles of "Hua Tiew" white wine, it was the best way to enhance the all-natural flavors of the crab.

The next dish is the Japanese Snails. Cooked in 2 version which is Butter and Kam Heong. The Butter version has a strong buttery taste while the Kam Heong was cooked with a generous amount of shallots making a strong fragrant that comb with the nice bouncy texture of the snail's meat.


This is followed by the Italiano Mantis Prawns With Potatoes. Normally for Mantis Prawns, the best way to cooked it will be Kam Heong, but the Chef have decided to marry an Italian fusion into the dish giving it a subtle creamy carbonara taste and texture.


For anti-shark protester, you may want to protest this dish which is Shark Fin Tau Foo. But don't fret out yet; as there is NO shark fin used in this dish. The Shark Fin is actually "Tung Fun". We particularly like the soft and silky housemade Tau Foo. It has a rich smooth taste that was perfectly matched with the sauce which was cooked with Crab Meat.


For some non-seafood dishes, you can try out the BBQ Pork Ribs which taste like Char Siew sauce. The pork ribs are first steamed to a soft texture. It is then fried before being caramelized with the sauce.


Lastly for our greens, we had the French Beans With Salted Eggs. We just love salted eggs and the fine coating of the salted eggs into the crunchy french beans was superb with the right Wok Hei.


For Petaling Jaya folks, you don;t need to travel far to Kepong to try out this fresh seafood especially the crabs offering at Fei Fei Crab Restaurant @ Damansara Jaya Petaling Jaya.

The main mission of Ibrahim's Fatty Crab Restaurant Ampang is to serve top quality imported fresh seafood to its patrons. Decking off the restaurants are its array of salt water fish tank where you get to choose the crabs, lobsters, oysters, different varieties of top grade fish like Grouper, Red Snapper, Jade Perch, Sea Bass(Siakap) and more.

One of the top prized Crabs available from Ibrahim's Fatty Crab Restoran Ampang is the French Crabs which is still swimming in the aquarium. You can also pre-book the King Crab in advance if you plan to savour on this crustacean.

The restaurant has been opened for the past 5 months and is very well lite and cleanliness is of prime importance to create a nice family dining experience.

Our review started with a special top grade French Scallop as our appetizer (RM30.00 per pcs). The juicy and succulent scallop are blanched and served with an in-house made sauce called the Sexy Lady Sauce; a concoction of garlic, chillies and local basil. The firm texture of the scallop was nice to bite in and was well paired with the dipping sauce. This dipping sauce is a great combo with any order of the seafood that is poached or steamed.

Next, we had the star of the night which is the French Crab with Mongolian Sauce (RM13.90 Per 100g). The French crab is first fried on its own before stir frying with the Mongolian sauce.  According to the Chef, the standard Mongolian sauce uses only Goat Butter but as the taste could be very musky, he replaces it butter and to added in the black pepper to give it a spicy taste to suit the local palate which can appreciate a little spice to the crabs. You can also order your other seafood but use this sauce as the cooking style.

After that, we had the Steam Assam Fish (RM7.00 per 100g). The fish that was chosen was the Red Snapper which was still swimming minutes ago. The fish meat was indeed the right texture and you are able to taste the natural sweetness of the fish. The Assam sauce was just the right balance of sourish and spicy level. We had to call some white rice to eat with this addictive sauce.

To go with your dishes, one can also order the Scallop Sauce fried rice (RM16.00 - Large); a signature dish at Ibrahim's Fatty Crab Restaurant Ampang. The scallop sauce is in-house made too and garnished with cubes of chicken meat, prawns and squid fried to a perfect Wok Hei, it was a delicious fare by itself. Note; this dish is a little spicy but you can request it to be milder if your tolerant to spicy level is at a minimum.

This is followed by the Chillies Mussel. The New Zealand Green mussels are stir fried with a special chilli paste that is made out of garlic, dried chillies and the dry shrimp to give it a pungent chillies fragrant and aroma.

and for the Vegetables; we had the Broccoli with Sea Asparagus and Pacific Clam. The blanched Broccoli are laid on the plate while the sea asparagus together with pacific clams, mushroom are braised with a special sauce and laid on the plates. This is a new dish which is set to be introduced to the standard menu.

Our last dish of the night is the Salted Eggs Mud Crab (from Rm8.90 per 100g). The commendation of the Chef in producing such a sandy salted eggs coating was superb. Every little inch of the crab is fully coated with the salted eggs which make eating this crab a tasty and delicious affair.

Seafood is one of my all time favourite food that I can't live without although seafood especially crabs and prawns will contribute to my already mid to high cholesterol level. So it is no surprise that I venture to the new opening of Kai's Plato Kota Kemuning outlet located at No. 31G & 33G, Jalan Anggerik Aranda BG 31/BG, Kota Kemuning. 40460 Shah Alam Selangor.

Riding on the success of its flagship outlet, Kai's Plato Kota Damansara, they have decided to open a new outlet in Kota Kemuning to served their signature dishes to customers of this affluent and growing township.

Unlike your usual seafood restaurant, Kai’s Plato has a “hands and table” concept. No cutlery will be provided and customers will be enjoying their food with both hands. The idea of such interesting concept is to encourage communication and interaction between family and friends. Furthermore, they believe that seafood always tastes nicer when it is eaten using hands!

“Kai” meant ocean in Welsh, which coincidently is the middle name of their chef; while “Plato” is a philosopher but also meant plate by plate at the same time. In short, “Kai’s Plato” means Ocean’s Philosopher. Looking around the restaurant, you’ll see lots of beautiful scallop shells on the walls that are either painted or written with messages by their customers.

Kai’s Plato has a simple menu that consists of simple starters and their signature seafood platter. Depending on the size of your group, Kai’s Plato offers 3 different platters for you to choose from. The platter would be served in a pot with 3-4 tiers with different seafood to be found at each tier.

Deep fried calamari in their signature batter, the Crispy Calamari is a good appetizer or side order to have.

Sandy Crabby is a Fried baby crablets that are coated with salted egg yolks. You will love the crunchy and the savoury taste which is a perfectly paired with a nice glass of wine or cold beer.

Kai's Plato Seafood Restaurant Steam Seafood Multi tier

The seafood Jumbo Platter (6 people) came with a five layer of a steam pot with a total of 11 combinations of seafood. The first three layers have different types of seafood and the bottom layer is the aromatic seafood soup. At Kai’s Plato, they practices “hand and table” dining, so no cutlery would be provided. All you have to do is, use the tongs to pick up the seafood, place it on the table and start digging in with your hands. A bucket will be provided for you to dispose of the seafood shells.

The first layer consists of Fish , Abalone, Oyster , and cabbages. These were intentionally served as the top layer as its' meat texture is more tender, requires less steaming and easier to eat.

A little bit peeling and de-shelling would be required for the second layer, which consists of Big Clam , Shrimps , Squid, and Bamboo Clam served on a platter of cabbages at the bottom, which is used to encapsulate all the juices from the seafood.

The third layer is the Third Layer : Mussel , Fresh Water Big Head Prawn, and Scallop. Loves the Roe of the big prawns.

The fourth layer is an impressive layout of succulent steamed mud crab, Shell Fish and Slipper Lobster with Sou hoon. Both the crab and slipper lobster have very firm flesh and you could taste the natural sweetness of the seafood.

After all the feasting you can now sit back and enjoy a bowl of aromatic seafood soup that is packed with umami flavours with Angel Hair pasta or Enoki mushroom to savour this seafood enriched broth.
