Flavours of Thailand at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur proudly presents its rich flavours of authentic Thai cuisines that will ignite your taste buds with its guest chefs hailing from Conrad Bangkok Bangkok

Let your taste buds tingle with delight in heat and spice as DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur brings authentic, beautiful and tasty dishes for guests to enjoy, featuring renowned Thai chefs from sister properties Conrad Bangkok and Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok, to exhibit a Thai dining experience like no other. Starting from March 1, 2017, to April 30, 2017, DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur will be offering five Thai inspired promotions for everyone to savour.

Absolute Thai Buffet Dinner at Makan Kitchen which start from 3 March – 30 April 2017 Monday till Sunday 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm is priced at RM135 nett per person.

Our tasting started with the 2 appetizer; the first of which is the Som Tam which is a
Thai Papaya Salad with dried shrimps, roasted peanuts & chili mixed with a lime dressing

while the second one is a rather unique to a Thai dish which is Gung Che Num Pa. Raw prawns are usually associated to Japanese but here the Chef serves this Raw Tiger Prawns with a cold specially crafted Thai dip. Truly an experience to taste it. Went for a second and third helping.

You can't complete a Thai dining experience until you taste the Tom Yam Soup which the Chef has chosen the Fresh water prawn as the base ingredient. The selection of this is superb as the roe in this prawn when mix with the spicy sourish soup was excellent although it was a tad on the salty side for me.

For the night, we were served 3 specialty mains dishes; the first is the Pla Neung Manao which essentially a Steamed Seabass with fragrant lime broth served with Khao Suay Steamed Thai white rice. We like the balance taste slight of spicy and sourish taste of this dish.

This is then followed by the Nam Tok which is Grilled Angus Beef with Thai salad.

Our last main to taste was the Gang Kiew Wan Gai which is Thai green curry chicken. There were this pebbles like ingredient which we thought was the green peas but it was a mini brinjal which has a slight bitter taste to it.

For the vegetables, the chef has cooked up the Rau Muong Xao Mam Tom which is also a Malaysian popular dish; Kang Kong with chilli & shrimp paste. I particular like this dish as the shrimp paste was not salty and has a distinct flavour in it.

For dessert, you can't missed out on the Khao Nieaw Mamuang which essentially is the Mango sticky rice.

and the Sangkaya Fukthong - Pumpkin custard

and finally the Tub Tim Krob i.e. Red Ruby & Jack fruit in coconut milk

The above is the special dishes that was cooked up for us to taste but there are many other Thai and local dishes (more than 80 dishes) for you to taste out for this buffet dinner spread.

With a scenic view; you can also dine at the outdoor balcony area where you will be rewarded with a breezy and nice backdrop of the KL skyline from afar especially in the late evening.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Saku Sai Gai

Our first dish is the Sago based appetiser Saku Sai Gai (RM 22.00). The filling is a minced chicken cooked in a special sauce. This dessert resembles the Chinese Sesame Balls but instead of deep frying it is steamed. It is best eaten hot as it tends to be chewier as its gets colder.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Thai Pandan Leaf Chicken

Followed by the Thai Pandan Leaf Chicken Gai Hor Dai Toey (RM 22 For 4 pcs). We like the frying style as it is not over fried, this gives a pandan enhanced flavoured with a nice soft crisp while the chicken meat which is already flavoured is succulent and tender.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Seafood Thai Tom Yam Kung

We can't miss the next dish which is the Seafood Tom Yam Kung, Chef has a special skill that makes this soup very authentic in terms of the flavours with the right balance of spicy and sour level which get us going for the second and the third until the last drop.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Thai Style Steamed Fish

Another signature dish of the Chef is the Steamed Sea Bass (Siakap) Thai Style. Using simple condiments such as lime, chopped garlic, coriander root and birds eye chilli to make the sauce and garnished with coriander leaves and scallions; this dish left us spellbound. Coupled with the fresh meat texture, it was a real delight to taste this dish.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Pineapple Fried Rice

Our order of rice is the Kao Pad Sapparod Pineapple Fried Rice with Seafood & Chicken Floss (RM 27.00). Nicely decorated in the pineapple shell, it looks really good. The fried rice has a lot of little chunks of fresh pineapple to give you that natural sweet sourish taste to the rice.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Pan Fried Tenderloin Beef served with Kway Teow

Besides offering some of the authentic Thai dishes, Chef Seeri which has a vast experience has concocted some new fusion dishes, this time, for us to sample on. He decided to implore some Japanese fusion into the Udon Pad Prik Gung Nam Yead Spicy Braised Udon Noodle with Seafood (RM 38.00). The springy texture of the udon was fried with the special Thai sauce and perfectly paired with the bouncy firm texture of the prawns, squid and mussels.

And the next dish is infused with some Western influence, which is the Pad Neau San Hua Kap Kway Teow aka. Pan Fried Tenderloin Beef served with Kway Teow (RM 28.00). We like the texture of the tenderloin beef as its' meat which is pan fried was coated with a nice sauce while the meat was very tender and juicy.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Sangkaya Phek Pumpkin Egg Custard

2 Special Thai Dessert are set for us to taste; the first of which is the Sangkaya Phek Pumpkin Egg Custard (RM 15.00). The pumpkin is first steamed to a soft creamy texture and moulded in. It is then topped with thick coconut cream that gives it a Sangkaya flavoured.

Aroi Dee Thai Restaurant Putrajaya Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort Sangkaya Phek Yam Egg Custard

and the last one is the  Sangkaya Phek Yam Egg Custard (RM 15.00). Similar to the Pumpkin but the change is the Yam filling. For the Yam, it should be eaten when it is still hot as it gets harden once it comes to room temperature.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Thai Food

So, how authentic these Thai dishes will turn out to be; we were told that all the Chef is from Thailand and most of the ingredients and condiments used to cook these dishes are specially sourced from Thailand too.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Fried Donuts Prawns

To start off our review, we had a few Thai appetiser which the first is theTod Man Gong Signature Fried Donut Prawns (RM18.90). We understand that the prawn is cut into little pieces and mix with the fish paste and then coated with a special batter before it is sent for deep frying. The result, you get a crisp skin while the paste has a firm texture which we like. Best eaten with the Thai Chillies sauce.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Thai Prawns Pancake

Next is the Gong Ga Bang Thai Prawns Pancake (RM18.90). The filling of the prawn fish paste is spread onto the pancake roll and sent for deep frying. Like this too.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Thai Roasted Pork

The last starter that we had is the Thai Roasted Pork (RM21.90). It is quite different from the Chinese Roast Pork (Siew York) in that the whole piece of pork are deep fried to a crisp much like a fried chicken.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Seafood Tom Yum Pot
Seafood Tom Yum Pot 3-5 pax RM158.00
The main highlight of the Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi has to be the Pim's Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot (3-5 pax) RM158.00 consists of Crayfish, Tiger Prawns, Prawns, Hokkaido Squid, Duck Eggs, Mushrooms, Fishballs, Scallops, Thai Instant Noodles topped ith a fresh egg and Pim's Tom Yum Kung. We love the flavourful broth and it marries well with the abundance of seafood that is used to cooked this Tom Yam.

One of the interesting thing about this dish is that there are instant noodles which are added to the broth. Apparently, this cooking method is quite popular in Thailand too. It was a first encounter for us to eat this style. Nevertheless for instant noodles fans; you will surely love it. Also for the soup, you can get Free Refill to your heart's content. We were told that the soup is not pre-made in a bulk but on-demand basis; so that you can really get to taste it as freshly made as possible.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Stir Fried Sotong In Salted Eggs

The next mains that we had the Pa Meng Pad Kai Kem Stir Fried Sotong In Salted Eggs (RM22.50). Like the fresh bouncy white squid. The salted eggs sauce that is used to cooked has a tinge of sweet taste.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Deep Fried Cray Fish

While the last mains is the Kang Tod Ka Tiam Deep Fried Crayfish With Garlic (RM39.00). This dish is a little bland for us, but will be great eaten with a glass of cold beer as an add-on.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Pad Thai Noodles

If you still have stomach room after all those seafood, you can try out the Pad Thai Noodles (RM18.90) too.

Pim's Thai Seafood Restaurant Bukit Tinggi Jelly In Coconut

For desserts, we had Jelly in Coconut (RM7.90). It is a nice and cooling end to our review, We love the natural coconut taste of the jelly.
