Delifrance Malaysia Christmas Celebration Menu 2014 at Avenue K Outlet Review

Christmas is around the corner and restaurants in the Klang Valley are busy preparing their best signature dishes for this joyful festive occasion. Best Restaurant To Eat was invited to review Delifrance Malaysia Christmas Celebration Menu 2014 at Avenue K outlet.

Delifrance Malaysia has been around for more than 24 years in Malaysia and specializes in offering a family type of dining experience and serving authentic French bakery products with more than 15 branches throughout Malaysia.

Besides cakes, chocolates and bread, Delifrance Malaysia brings you the Christmas Set Menu which is the Provencal Lamb Stew – which uses lamb shoulder which is firstly grilled and cooked in the brown mushroom sauce and topped with a side salad.

The mushroom sauce was indeed perfectly done for the grilled lamb as it covers up any gamey taste and the lamb meat was still tender and juicy.

Next was the Poached Salmon With Creamy Dill Sauce, the poached salmon fillet was drenched with the dill sauce over a bed of smash potatoes and served with a garnishing of fresh salad.

The poached Salmon has that firm, flaky texture and served in a sweet Dill sauce, one can taste the sweet fine tasting flesh of the fish.

For the last main we tried, it was the Lasagne. I am normally not a huge fan of Lasagne, but I find that the Lasagne served here is delicious as the layers of lasagne was thin unlike some which uses a much thicker layer of lasagne and mix with the light tangy sauce which has carrots infused was superb without being too overwhelmingly cheesy. Filled in between was tender minced beef meat which was perfectly blended with the entire offering.

Also, on offer for the Christmas set was the Cheese Turkey Pasta: This is a spaghetti pasta which are tossed in a cheese sauce and topped with strips of roasted turkey ham.

For the cake offering, we tried the Salted Caramel Tea Cake With Walnut

and the Doubled Chocolate Tea Cake

For Macaroon fans, Delifrance Malaysia offers Macaroon which comes with Strawberries, Lemon, Vanilla, and Chocolate flavours.

Other newly introduced cakes from Delifrance Malaysia for Christmas are the Santa Play Land Gift Cake.

Rocky Land Gift Cake.

So, if you are planning for a nice Christmas meal and delicacies for this holiday, Delifrance Malaysia has the offering to whet your appetite for some Christmas meals and for some of you, will be able to indulge in the sweet tooth offering.

There are not many restaurant that serve Scandinavian food in Kuala Lumpur, I had the honoured to review the newly opened COEN Cafe @Pavilion which is located a Lot 2.65.00, 2.67.00 & 2.74.00, Level 2, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, No. 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.

COEN CAFE@Pavilion offers a modern contemporary interior featuring clean aesthetics design combined with natural and raw materials such as wood and steel.

One will notice while dining at COEN CAFE@Pavilion, are their custom-made chairs which are functional in design yet comfortable.

After our sumptuous dinner at the Taste Enclave Classic@Pavilion, we had the Swedish Seafood Cake, which is a very unique dish in that it is made out of six layers of alternating bread and a seafood mix of salmon, shrimp, eggs and mayonnaise.

It is then top with a generous amount of Deshell Prawns and Smoked Salmon. The sides are lined with slices of cucumber and lemon to add to a refreshing taste. Gently squeeze out the lemon juice as you cut out the section, and the blended zesty lemon juice will enhance the overall flavours of the mixed mayonnaise sauce.

This Swedish Seafood Cake is served chilled.

Next, we had the Affogato, the blend of double shot Espresso (Brazilian, Ethiopian  and Sumatran beans) was an in-house developed blend.

It was of a bitter taste on your first sip, while the flavours lingers around your mouth and stay smooth in your throat with the fresh coffee aroma, was indeed delicious. Coupled with the silky smooth vanilla ice cream, every spoonful was a mixture of the all the natural sweetness and flavours of the coffee.

For those who loves to listen to some light numbers after a nice meal, COEN CAFE@Pavilion has a resident artist that performs 'Live' and belts out some of the favourite tune to wind you down after a long day.

Durian Moon Cake Snow Skin By Royal Gourmet Hotel Premiere Klang

What makes a delicious Durian Moon Cake? That is the question that begets my mind when we were invited to do a review of the Durian Moon Cake by Royal Gourmet located at Hotel Premiere, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, 1/KS6, Jalan Langat, Klang

During the past one month, we had sampled a few durian infused food i.e. from Bijan Durian Cheese Cake to Heritage Village – Durian Cendol which were superbly done and tasted very delicious and now we had the opportunity to review the Durian Moon Cake from Royal Gourmet. After all, we are now in the Durian season, what better way to savour the King of Fruits.

I have been eating Durian Moon Cake over the years and frankly speaking, I didn’t really get the kick out of it, due to the fact that the durian taste and flavours are not really there.

Usually the Durian paste are added into lotus paste and then cooked, moulded and baked just like any other Lotus Paste Moon Cake. The taste to me, is quite awkward as somehow it compromises the flavours of the Durian and Lotus Paste i.e. somewhere in between (you know what I mean). So, I never got around yearning to eat it.

So, as I take my first bite of this Snow Skin Durian Moon Cake from Royal Gourmet with a hesitant feeling as I personally is also not a real fan of Snow Skin Moon Cake. That first little bite change the perspective of Durian Moon Cake.

As per all snow skin moon cake, it was best served chilled and the Durian filling in this moon cake was intense. Before you bite, you could smell the strong aroma of the D24 Durian filling, then while chewing, you could taste the rich Durian taste and lastly the snow skin was so thin layered, that it virtually blended well with the filling all in one. To me this must be one of the best Durian Moon Cake that I have eaten.

Later, Royal Gourmet Chef had offered to demonstrate to us how this wonderful Snow Skin Durian Moon Cake was made. We were told that there are no preservatives used in the moon cake, as it is made as fresh as it can be, i.e. on demand basis and that it should be consume within 3 to 4 days to ensure that you really get to enjoy this moon cake.

After having this Moon Cake little making process tour, it was a very enlightening experience.

To extend to readers of our blog, Royal Gourmet @Hotel Premiere is offering a 15% on all moon cakes, please read the instruction as below. If you can only eat one piece of moon cake you have to try this one.

Let us know what you feel after trying it in the comment section.

Crave Café @ Oasis Ara Damansara - Breakfast Like A King With Crave BIG Breakfast.

Like the saying goes “Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince, Dinner like a Pauper”. With that in mind, we head over to try out the BIG breakfast at Crave Cafe located at BG-03, Oasis Square, Jalan PJU 1A/7, Ara Damansara, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Crave café is inspired by its owner Australian love affair. So the décor and outlook pretty much size it up like the outback with comfortable dining area and sofa seats where you can hang out with your buddies for a nice get together.

Here at Crave Café, the line of coffee and tea are from the famous Toby's Estate Arabica Coffee in Sydney and are of the Woolloomooloo Blend from Sydney Australia. Toby coffees are of the mild roasted type and are not the type where you can get the coffee kick, which are suitable for those that prefer a not so strong coffee.

One of the advantages of a mild roasted coffee is, it leaves a little sweetness in the beans, so technically you don’t really need to add any sugar into the drink.

We had the opportunity to try out a few interesting coffee flavors one of which is the Dirty Chai Latte which I have not tried before. It is a one shot expresso mixed with Chai syrup and topped with cinnamon powder. I should have ordered a double shot as I like my coffee stronger.

For non coffee drinkers, you could opt for the Toby Breakfast Blend Tea, it has a smooth taste and a strong floral aroma.

The first breakfast set we sample was none other than the Crave BIG Breakfast which has 2 sunny side up eggs, sausages, beef bacon, baked beans, roasted tomatoes and mushrooms served with ciabatta.

The mushroom which was lightly sauteed was very tasty especially eaten with the toast, topped with some slices of sausages, bacon and eggs.

Next we had the Pancakes with Caramelised Banana & Maple Syrup – The pancakes was very fluffy and of the right texture. Eaten with the combination of the maple syrup and caramelized banana, the taste was just right. There were also sprinkles of cashew nuts too.

The third set of breakfast that we had was the Salmon Scramble – It is smoked salmon nestled on a bed of scrambled eggs served with focaccia. The scrambled eggs were very light and fluffy.

The saltiness of the smoke salmon and the sprinkle of parsley topping was a perfect combination with the focaccia. This dish is for those that prefer a lighter wholesome breakfast to start the day.

Crave Cafe will be introducing a new item to their breakfast menu – as of now, this dish has not been named but it is served with fried eggs, beef bacon and avocado paste with ciabatta.

The white paste is actually cheese spread which you can spread on the bread or eaten as it is. The strong avocado (green) paste was a perfect blend to the bacon and fried eggs.

For Lunch menu, you try out the Chicken Parmigiana, which is breaded chicken cutlets baked with Parmesan cheese and served with tomato sauce base. The Chicken cutlet is coated with parmessan cheese and oven baked.

You can taste the crispy chicken with the flavored cheese wrap around it. Slurp it up with the accompanied tomato sauce, it makes a tantalizing sweet sourish meal. The thinly slice baked potatoes was a perfect side dish to compliment this dish.

The Next Lunch menu dish was the Seabass With Spicy Sauce. This dish will be for those that prefer a little spicier food, the fish is first coated and deep fried and served in a bed of spicy sauce with a bowl of Buttered Herb rice, green beans and carrots.

For desserts, we started off with the

Gula Melaka Cake – I find this cake a little unique and it is an acquired taste to like this especially so, if you are those that loves anything Gula Melaka or sweet stuff. I don’t think you can find this cake in any places. You can taste the tiny pieces of Gula Melaka crystal in every little bite of the cakes, it has that slight crust bite feeling when eating this cake.

Nutella Mille Crepe Cake – It is a nutella infused crepe cake. Look at the multiple layers of nutella crepe.

Salted Chocolate Cake – this is another specialty cake serves at the Crave Café. The whole cakes is chocolate based and in the middle, there is a thin layer of melted salt which you can taste. It is a very interesting combination of the rich chocolate taste with a tinge of saltiness in every bite.

In conjunction with the Ramadan, Crave Café is having a Ramadan promotion.
