Durian Moon Cake Snow Skin By Royal Gourmet Hotel Premiere Klang

What makes a delicious Durian Moon Cake? That is the question that begets my mind when we were invited to do a review of the Durian Moon Cake by Royal Gourmet located at Hotel Premiere, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, 1/KS6, Jalan Langat, Klang

During the past one month, we had sampled a few durian infused food i.e. from Bijan Durian Cheese Cake to Heritage Village – Durian Cendol which were superbly done and tasted very delicious and now we had the opportunity to review the Durian Moon Cake from Royal Gourmet. After all, we are now in the Durian season, what better way to savour the King of Fruits.

I have been eating Durian Moon Cake over the years and frankly speaking, I didn’t really get the kick out of it, due to the fact that the durian taste and flavours are not really there.

Usually the Durian paste are added into lotus paste and then cooked, moulded and baked just like any other Lotus Paste Moon Cake. The taste to me, is quite awkward as somehow it compromises the flavours of the Durian and Lotus Paste i.e. somewhere in between (you know what I mean). So, I never got around yearning to eat it.

So, as I take my first bite of this Snow Skin Durian Moon Cake from Royal Gourmet with a hesitant feeling as I personally is also not a real fan of Snow Skin Moon Cake. That first little bite change the perspective of Durian Moon Cake.

As per all snow skin moon cake, it was best served chilled and the Durian filling in this moon cake was intense. Before you bite, you could smell the strong aroma of the D24 Durian filling, then while chewing, you could taste the rich Durian taste and lastly the snow skin was so thin layered, that it virtually blended well with the filling all in one. To me this must be one of the best Durian Moon Cake that I have eaten.

Later, Royal Gourmet Chef had offered to demonstrate to us how this wonderful Snow Skin Durian Moon Cake was made. We were told that there are no preservatives used in the moon cake, as it is made as fresh as it can be, i.e. on demand basis and that it should be consume within 3 to 4 days to ensure that you really get to enjoy this moon cake.

After having this Moon Cake little making process tour, it was a very enlightening experience.

Superb Indian Mutton Curry Rice @ATS Curry House Section 22 Petaling Jaya

Wonder where you can get reasonable price and tasty Indian Mutton Rice in Petaling Jaya. One such place is at ATS Curry House located at 6, Jalan 22/49 Taman Aman Petaling Jaya. A stone throw from the SMK Sri Aman school. To find exact location, please scroll down to the location, it will have the GPS map there.

Eating at road side stall has some advantage i.e. prices are more reasonable, and sometimes under a big tree.

At ATS Curry House, the mutton curry was very good as the chef have used the right amount of spices with the right timing to cook this simple dish.

The mutton was not tough and did not have the musky mutton taste that will put you off.
Due to the precise timing and cooking skills of the chef, the meat was also quite tender and you need not have to put up a fight to eat it.

The mutton was cut into large boney chunks where you can drool and slurp the meat from the bones.

My only displeasure was that they should have trim off the access fats which makes it not so pleasing to the eyes and you need to really chew on these fats.

For those of you that are not a fan of mutton, you can try their Fried Chicken Rice which are the chicken skin was very crunchy and the meat still retains the juiciness.

Taste wise, it would have been better, if the chicken were marinated to a little longer as the flavors would have impede into the meat rather than just coated on the outer layer.

Price wise, the Mutton Curry with a Fried Eggs and Vegetable was at RM8.50 while the Fried Chicken Set was at RM6.50.

The only setback eating at this place is the house fly (lalat) which also targeting after the delicious mutton curry. I guess they are also a great fan of the food serves at ATS Curry House just like me.

Heritage Village @Jaya Shopping Centre Petaling Jaya – Penang Nyonya Street Delights Food Review

Many of us love to eat Penang food, as it is one of the states that serve mouth watering street food virtually in every corner. But, the next time, you crave for some of these Penang delights, you need not have to travel that far to taste it, you will be able to savour some of these dishes at Heritage Village located at L3-13, Jaya Shopping Centre, Section 14, 46100 Petaling Jaya Malaysia.

Jaya shopping centre is a rebuilt shopping mall in Section 14, which offers patrons with entertainment like cinema and a number of restaurants that have enjoyed brisk business since opening a couple of months ago.

My first impression, Heritage Village was the heritage rustic décor with age-old ornament used to provide that dining ambience of yesteryear in a comfortable air conditioned environment.

Heritage Village serves mostly single dish food i.e. like their Signature Nasi Lemak which comes with many different varieties namely Chicken Rendang, Beef Rendang, Ayam Inche Kabin , Sambal Sotong, Sambal Udang (the recipe of which was passed down from 3 generation).

Other rice dishes are the Otak Fried Rice - Otak-Otak Based Fried Rice accompanied with Fried Eggs, Chicken and

Pie Tee - Crispy top-hat like cracker filled with stir fried sengkuang and carrots.

Other single dishes which are noodles based are the Heritage Assam Laksa.

So, if you are really in for a quick lunch to savour some Penang Nyonya dishes in a comfortable environment, you know where to head to.

Heritage Village also serves ala-carte side dishes like Jui Hu Char - a nyonya dish made from stir fired sengkuang, carrots, dried squid and mushroom served with green lettuce or the

Heritage Chicken Loh Bak + Century Eggs + Fried Tofu

Nyonya Kuih (like Kuih Talam, Kuih lapis, Seri Muka  and etc which are placed on the table).

Some of the main dishes that you could order as add on to your single dishes are Assam Pedas with Ikan Pari or their

Curry Fish Head too. Both these dishes are strong flavoured and are nice to be eaten with white rice.

At Heritage Village, you will be spoil of choices to order as there are just too many dishes for you to decide on.

For me, the best of the night has to be the Heritage Durian Cendol as I love Durian. It was just the right balance of the musky durian flesh mix with the cold slurpee cendol and big red beans that will drools you after a stomach filling meals of hot, spicy and sourish meals.

Others durians infused desserts include the Durian Bo Bo Cha Cha
and Durian ABC.

Heritage Village friendly team of servers.
