To start off, we had the Tuna Tartar as our appetizer. It is a fantastic Italian Japanese fusion that marries the fresh raw tuna (french style), avocado and tsukini pieces mix with tosa soy and served wasabi, aioli, masago (flying fish roe) ginger pickle, and togarashi crips add a dimension to tingle your tastebud. You get an explosion of flavours in your mouth.

The new menu offering are the Big Breakfast Set, the first of which is the Big Breakfast Set. You can choose either the beef or Vienna chicken sausage which has a very firm texture which gives a meaty feel. You can also choose either the turkey ham or streaky beef, followed by a hash brown, a one half roasted tomatoes, sauteed wild mushrooms (brown shimeji, white shimeji, shitake mushroom, oyster and king oyster mushroom) with garlic and butter, 2 pieces of toasted wholemeal bread, baked beans with a coating of melted cheese topping and fresh green salad.

Followed by the Porto Bello Sunrise which has the Porto Bello Mushroom as the base, served with chicken ham with Bechamel Sauce (wonderfully done with a strong creamy taste), with a choice of either turkey ham or streaky beef, a sunny side up which the yolk blended with the sauce and mushroom was just the right and perfect combination. Comes with fresh garden salad and baked beans with melted mozzarella cheese topping.

and the Volcano Surprise which came with Chicken Bolognese on top of the Porto Bello Mushroom, a choice of turkey ham or streaky beef. With the addition of a sunny side up and hash brown and fresh garden salad to finish it up.

Just look at the thick Porto Bello mushroom sitting at the base; makes you salivating for this super breakfast meal.

For the main, the introduction of Lamb dishes is a welcome change, as yours truly loves lamb especially the Lamb Shanks. It was cooked with a very strong herbs and lamb essence flavour.

Followed by the Lamb rack which was superbly grilled to perfection while retaining its juicy succulent and tender meat served on a bed of mashed potatoes and sauteed mushroom. It comes with a light minty cream yoghurt sauce which blend well with the grill meat.

We also did tried one of the beef dishes which was the Braised Beef Bourgouignone - a French braised hearty stew cooked with radish, carrot and potatoes. The sauce was a perfect match with the soft toasted wholemeal bread.

Fried Buffalo Wings - a super crispy fried drummet with a strong tinge of spiciness from the

One of the new drinks offering was the Cucumber Mojito which was super refreshing and as I was having a minor sore throat, this drink which was infused with freshly mint leaves, was just the perfect concoction to sooth my dry throat.

Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley Mega Mall - New Menu and Four Heavenly King Dim Sum Review

Mention of Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley - A Michelin Star and Hong Kong Most Famous Dim Sum, you can picture the long queue of people and waiting for a seat at this new restaurant that was opened December 2014 at Mid Valley.

Best Restaurant To Eat was invited to a food review for 3 new dishes that will be available from 8th March 2015 and also to taste the Four Heavenly King Dim Sum and some other specialty dim sum at Tim Ho Wan located at 27-G, Ground Floor, The Boulevard, Mid Valley City Mega Mall.

First to be debuted and exclusively available in Mid Valley restaurant is the Signature 5 Treasures. This irresistible savoury combines silky bean curd, deep fried tofu, capsicum and eggplant generously stuffed with shrimps and chicken paste accompanied by its Chef’s Signature, black bean sauce. This healthy and colourful serving is very much enjoyed by many dim sum lovers.

Tim Ho Wan brings to the table Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw. This dish invites you to indulge on the succulent and juicy, steamed-to-perfection chicken with fresh mushroom and fish maw in its silky abalone sauce. Just picturing the dish alone is enough to make one salivate! Yums!

Besides that, make your way gourmet-heaven with Tim Ho Wan’s Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg. This is packaging with shrimp paste, asparagus, fish roe and century egg that are enveloped in crystal-clear rice dumpling skin. For a finishing touch, the dumplings are then drenched in abalone sauce! With its Michelin Star status to keep up with, Tim Ho Wan guarantees you a gastronomic dining experience at a conveniently affordable price.

At Tim Ho Wan, its ‘Four Heavenly Kings’, namely Baked Bun with BBQ Pork; The pork buns are crumbly and fluffy on the outside cooked-to-perfection barbecued pork oozing with deliciously sweet-salty sauce inside.

The Vermicelli Roll Stuffed with Pork Liver is an interesting change from the traditional “chee cheong fun” dish. This vermicelli roll has a very velvety texture while the fresh pork liver lends a gamey flavour which blended well with the chee cheong fun and the soya sauce.

Next is the Pan Fried Carrot Cake which is spiked with scrumptious radish bits.

and ending the Four Heavenly Kings is the Steamed Egg Cake. The egg cake is light and spongy, with a hint of flavourful caramelised taste. A must order dish.

From the list of item from the standard menu a, total of 25 dishes are being offered, we were served the Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce. The Chicken feet were braised to a soft texture that makes eating it a breeze.

One of my favourite Dim Sum dish is the Steamed Pork Rib with Black Bean Sauce. The bean paste sauce was just right without overwhelmingly salty.

Next was the Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf

and lastly for the Dim Sum is the crispy Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp.

To end the food review we had the Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake as our dessert.

So, if you do not like to wait for the queue, you can make a reservation at the Tim Ho Wan special dining area or private room located at the mezzanine floor that can seat up to 48 people. Extra charges are applicable on these room. Please check it out by calling them to make this reservation.

Buns and Meat Restaurant Lakeside Sungei Besi – Gourmet Burger & Hot Dog Restaurant Review

This review is strictly for Pork Fan and Lovers. Best Restaurant To Eat was invited to review this Porklicious restaurant i.e. Buns and Meat Restaurant located at Ground Floor 72A, Jalan Tasik Utama 7, Lakefields, Sungai Besi, 57000 Kuala Lumpur.

Buns and Meat is a Non-Halal restaurant that serves gourmet pork burgers, hot dogs, pizza and pasta with pork as the centrepiece ingredient.

Catering to the non-muslim customers, it also serves alcoholic drinks like beer, wine and hard liquor.

The décor is one of a simple and casual open concept where customers can enjoy the pipe-in music; serenading in the background as you feast on the sumptuous pork meal. There is a small stage that can host singing performances or live music band.

We started the food review with the gourmet pork burger series. The bun of the burger with the special recipe which has a very strong buttery aroma, soft, fluffy and smooth texture (i.e. you can even eat it on its own) are tailored baked for Buns and Meat.

The thick pork patties with bacon and sauce are each made in-house by its own chef creation that gives a meaty and flavourful taste to each bite of the burger. Each burger set comes with a serving of French fries and mini serving of macaroni pasta.

The first of the burger that we had was the Char Siew Burger – It comes with a layer of succulent pork patty, cheesy melted cheese and topped with a generous serving of BBQ Char Siew. For those that love; Char Siew, this burger will be a good selection for you.

The next burger is the Runny Mess Burger – it is a pork patty topped with a piece of grilled pork bacon, melted cheese, with poached eggs and complimented with a cheesy sauce.

This is much like the Egg Benedict on a burger bun. The cheesy taste was perfectly matched with the pork patties, slightly salty pork bacon and silky runny eggs.

Next, was the Black Pepper Pork Burger.

And the last burger was the Spicy Korean Ribs Burger. The pork rib are first cooked to a soft texture and then deboned – ready to be served. The sauce has a slight spicy, sweet and smoky taste.

After the burger, this was followed by the gourmet German Hot Dog. According to owner Mr Robin, the skin of the sausage; are from the lamb, which has a firmer texture that gives a solid delight when biting into it. The sausage meat has a bouncy and springy texture; hallmark of a good quality German sausage.

The first hot dog was the Hot Dog with Jalapenos BBQ Slaw – it is a pork sausage served with topping of coleslaw, mustard sauce, finely chopped jalapeno and a sprinkle of fresh cut scallion and served with fries and Ham Salad.

Next, was the Mac and Cheese Hot Dog – the pork sausage is drenched with macaroni cheese and fried crispy chicken bits.

Followed by Hot Dog With Nacho Cheese Sauce – a pork sausage topped with cheesy and tomato based sauce, with pieces of nachos crunch.

And the Hot Dog With Bacon and Baked Beans.

and the final hotdog; which is the Hot Dog With Sauteed Mushroom and Black Pepper Sauce.

The use of the Shimeji Mushroom added a new dimension to this Hot Dog. I find it pretty interesting combination; but nevertheless after tasting all the other Hot Dog earlier, I would say, this has to be my number one in terms of taste.

Other than burger and hot dogs, the pork ribs are one of the favourite offering at Buns and Meat Lake Side Sg Besi. There are 2 version of grilled pork ribs that are being offered. The first of which is the Spicy Korean Pork Ribs which was grilled enough to be flavourful without tasting the carbon. The meat was soft and tender and gel well with the slight spicy Korean sauce.

The other grilled pork ribs is the BBQ sauce enhanced ribs; which its BBQ sauce has a slightly sweeter and smoky taste.

For pasta, we tried the Alio-Oglio with Pork Bacon. This is for those that love an added spiciness to the pasta. The rich flavor of the pork bacon, mushroom and dried chili combined with spaghetti or penne was tasty.

I would have preferred the Spaghetti instead of the Penne Rigate that was used for the pasta, as spaghetti tends to gel easier with the sauce.

I love French Fries eaten with tomato and chilli sauce, but at Buns and Meat, we got to try out a special twist which is the Pulled Pork Fries which has the pork ribs meat shredded with the Korean Spicy Sauce. Finger licking good. Would have preferred the sauce served in a separate dish so that we can control on how much dip we would like for each fries.

At Buns and Meat, they also serves an array of artisan handmade cake for desserts.

So, there you have it, a nice little outlet Buns and Meat at Lakeside, Sungei Besi that serves tasty gourmet burgers and hot dog.
