This Ramadan, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa celebrates a vibrant mixture of flavours and aromas at The Resort Café, featuring indoor and outdoor bazaar-style stations with live-action cooking from the chefs, reminiscing the classic bustling atmosphere of the Ramadan bazaar found around Malaysia during the festive period. Diners are in for a culinary treat with a multitude of nostalgic and new mouth-watering recipes to entice and revitalise the palate, alongside the many must-have recurrent dishes, served on the nightly buffet dinner at 6.00pm to 10.30pm from 17 May to 14 June 2018 at The Resort Café, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

Leading the brigade of over 40 chefs for the season is Malaysian Chef Mohamad Yatim, Sous Chef Tournant of The Resort Café. Chef Yatim who has over 20 years of experience working in local and international hotels, will be cooking up a storm of over 400 timeless dishes for 29 delicious days. Diners can anticipate an energetic ambience with enticing aromas filling the air as the restaurant is transformed into a vibrant Bazaar-style atmosphere for a true feast of the senses.

Taking centre stage are nine (9) main food categories which are the Nasi Station featuring 15 varieties of rice cooked in different styles including a must-try for the season – Bamboo Briyani, the Bakar Station where fresh meat and seafood will be grilled on the spot for diners, the Soup Station including the restaurant’s signature Soup Gearbox Turbo, the Golek Station featuring a whole Roasted Goat, the Noodle Station serving a wide variety of soup and gravy based noodles, the Kawah Station where super-large cauldrons containing rich and spicy Gulai awaits.

The Resort Café, located at the Lobby Level of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, will commence the special Ramadan buffet dinner nightly from 17 May to 14 June 2018, starting from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. The buffet is priced at a special promotional price at RM98 nett per adult from 17 until 23 May and 11 June to 14 June 2018; whereas the buffet is priced at its normal price at RM178 nett per adult, RM108 nett per senior citizen and RM98 nett per child (aged between 6 to 12 years old) from 24 May to 10 June 2018.

We had a first Vegetarian Fine Dining experience recently at the award-winning Samplings On the Fourteen Restaurant at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur (BTHKL).

With the increasing awareness of beautiful appearance and healthy lifestyles these days; many people from all walks of life are turning to vegetarian food. Starting April 2018; Samplings On The Fourteen Restaurant have taken the initiative to offers its' guests with an option of healthy, balanced meals and dishes. The dishes are specially curated from different blends of vegetables and do not use any soybean-based processed food i.e. mock meats that are popularly used in other Vegetarian restaurants.

Under Chef Val's stewardship, he has created a number of fusion vegetarian dishes using the natural taste of the ingredients and is presented exquisitely for diners to indulge in this healthy offering. 

Terrine of Roasted Pepper - Samplings On The Fourteen Restaurant Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur

To start off the dinner, we were served the Terrine of Roasted Pepper as an appetizer which comprises of ingredient made out from beans and Peas jelly.

Seared Haloumi and Breaded Camembert - Vegetarian Fine Dining

This is then followed by a warm appetizer which is the Seared Haloumi and Breaded Camembert. Fans of these cheese are in for a treat, as these 2 differing cheese with 2 different cooking style which has a different taste and texture are both served in a dish. It is served with grapefruits, pickles and laid in a sesame dressing; that adds a tangy sourish taste to enhance the flavours of the cheese.

Wild Forest Mushroom with Truffle Forth - Vegetarian Fine Dining

For the soup; we were served the Wild Forest Mushroom with Truffle Forth. We love the strong aroma when the soup arrives at the table. The truffle forth further enhances the full mushroom flavour and taste of the soup. Eaten with a soft milk bun with every dip into this warm soup is a real delight.

Palate Cleanser - Mango Sorbet - Vegetarian Fine Dining

After 3 dishes with differing flavour; we were served the Mango Sorbet which is our palate cleanser. It is served on an ice cube which resembles a leaf. The Mango Sorbet was very fruity in taste and topped with cubes of mango

Chilled Soft Tofu - Vegetarian Fine Dining Dishes

For this Vegetarian Set dinner; we were served with 3 entrees; the first of which is Chilled Soft Tofu which is served with shaved fennel and yellow pepper coulis which were perfectly matched to the bland tofu.

 Maple Glaze Pumpkin - Vegetarian Fine Dining Dishes

The second entree is the Maple Glaze Pumpkin; This is served with the grilled King Mushroom and blanched Spinach layered upon the smashed pumpkin. A special taste which marries the naturally rich flavour of the pumpkin with the ingredients. Drizzles at the sides are freshly roasted sunflower and melon seeds to give a crunchy texture to the dish.

Steamed Dumplings - Vegetarian Fine Dining Dishes

The final entree Steamed Dumpling. The filling is the cooked shredded turnip which has a sweet taste.

Main Course Yam Rice - Vegetarian Fine Dining Dishes

For the main course; we were served with Yam Rice. Cubes of yam are used to enhance the flavour of the glutinous rice which is flavoured by the soy sauce with poached asparagus, sago and top with a piece of thinly sliced lotus root.

Dessert Chocolate Mud Cake - Vegetarian Fine Dining Dishes

For desserts; we had the Chocolate Mud Cake which is served with butterscotch. Decor on the sides is raspberries. strawberries, oranges and grapes that add a differing taste to this sweet dessert.

This vegetarian dish is available starting April from Monday to Saturday from 630pm to 930pm. Diners can choose from the five-course dinner at (RM118 Nett per set), seven-course (RM148 Nett) or nine-course (RM168 Nett) or order a la carte dish at RM18 Nett.

Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Affordable Premium Quality Japanese Dishes - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant @Old Klang Road.


It is a norm that quality seasonal Japanese food is very pricier; the price is due to the way the food arrives in Malaysia which is usually air-flown. Nowadays, we are a little bit luckier in that many Japanese restaurants has started to bring the seasonal ingredients to Malaysia for us to taste the fine quality of these items.

At Kimi Ya Japanese Restaurant which is located at G-2, Avantas Residences, 162 Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur for the month of May is serving these delicacies to its customers which will not burn a hole in your wallet.


There are a number of seasonal fish that will be available at Kimi-Ya among them are the Leather Jacket, Scorpion Fish, Gurnard, Ren-Kodai, Isaki, King Crab and more.


Among my favourite for the upcoming promotion is the Kagoshima Wagyu (120 grams). These prized cuts are air flown in from Japan. Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant used to serving the Australian Wagyu Beef at its outlet but have now switched to serve the Japanese Wagyu for its patron to enjoy the quality, texture and taste which is much better although a little pricier.

The Kagoshima Wagyu was lightly grilled Teppan-style with a simple dash of salt and pepper to bring out the true flavours of the melt in mouth texture. Served with bean spout at the sides with Teriyaki sauce.

Taraba Gani (Grilled King Crab with Salt) - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

We were served with one of the delicacies which are Taraba Gani (Grilled King Crab with Salt). What I like about Japanese food is to eat its natural taste of the King Crab. The meat was succulent with a nice natural salty taste which was enhanced by the simple grilling of the king crab.

Matsu Sashimi Moriawase - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Talking about natural taste, the Matsu Sashimi Moriawase which has 7 Types is another good example of tasting the natural flavours of the ingredients; here we were served with Salmon, White Tuna, Amberjack and Tuna Belly, Scallop, Octopus and Pink Shrimp. You can really taste the freshness of the sashimi which has a nice soft texture.

Kaori Bako Kani (Salad Crabmeat with Assorted Vegetables) - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

For our order of the salad, it was the Kaori Bako Kani (Salad Crabmeat with Assorted Vegetables) which has salad and topped with a dollop of crabmeat with Sesame dressing.

Yaki Pirikara Edamame - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Many of us fancy the edamame as a favourite snack before and after a meal; but at Kimi-Ya, the Chef has made a slight twist to this snack food which after boiling it; the edamame is slightly grill and tossed with chilli flakes. This dish is called the Yaki Pirikara Edamame.

Teriyaki Foie Gras - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Another one of the speciality dishes at Kimi-Ya is the Teriyaki Foie Gras  (2 pcs). The Foie Gras is Pan fried with a coating of Teriyaki sauce that encapsulate the entire piece of thick and succulent Foie Gras. Served with a bed of Brown mushroom.

Curry Udon - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

To fill your stomach, for Udon fans, you can try out the Curry Udon. The Udon is in-house made and has a silky smooth texture that makes slurping this noodle a nice feel.

Zaru Soba which is Cold Buckwheat Noodles served with Dipping Sauce - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

For me, I still love the Zaru Soba which is Cold Buckwheat Noodles served with Dipping Sauce. I really love the cold Soba which is also in-house made and dip into the special dipping sauce which we will add in the quail eggs, spring onion and wasabi. This is, in fact, the best way for me to enjoy this Cold Soba.

Warabi Mochi  - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Finally, for dessert, we were served with the Warabi- Mochi which is bracken starch dumpling served with Brown Sugar Syrup and Soybean Powder. We love the texture of the mochi which has a melt in mouth feeling when we bite into the mochi and the syrup was at the right sweetness level.

Japanese Musk Melon  - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Another one of air flown item is the Japanese Musk Melon which is famed for its unique natural juicy sweetness.
