Subang Jaya Food: Nasi Padang is one of the most popular Indonesian food; The Grand Sari Ratu Prima has moved across the road from Subang Parade to Wisma Consplant Subang Jaya more than 1 year ago.
One will not be mistaken with the same authentic Nasi Padang flavours from the Grand Sari Ratu Prima. It offers a wide variety of dishes at reasonable prices that make it one of the more popular go to restaurants for its Nasi Padang delicacies.
One of the many features of Nasi Padang is that there are usually served with many dishes. In Indonesia, during my visit there, the practice of laying many dishes on the table the minute you sit down at a Nasi Padang shop, you actually do not need to make any orders. Just sit down and in a minute of 2, all the dishes will be laden of the table. You eat what you want and pay for those dishes that you have eaten. Of course, in Malaysia, this is no longer a practice.
GRAND SARI RATU PRIMA - WISMA CONSPLANT - AUTHENTIC INDONESIAN NASI PADANG
Coming back to the Grand Sari Ratu Prima restaurant, we did have a feast (more than 10 dishes) to taste out some of the speciality like Ayam POP RM10.00 (aka POP means popular). A form of lightly fried chicken, not the typical deep frying (they also have this) and served with poached vegetables and special dipping sauce.
Next, we were served the Ayam Goreng Special (Deep Fried Chicken) RM10.40. The chicken is marinated and then deep fried. The chicken that is used by the restaurant is the Ayam Kampung which has a nice meaty texture. Served with the crunchy aromatic spice crumb that mixes well with the rice.
Moving on, we had the Gulai Tunjang (RM11.50). If you love beef tendon, then this is the dish you should order. For me, I just love this dish. The tendon is cooked to a nice chewy texture with the enclosed spices and served in a clay pot to retain the heat.
Another dish that came in a clay pot is the Gulai Kambing (RM14.15). This is an Indonesian version of mutton curry. The cooking method and spices that were used in the dish virtually eliminate any hint of the gamey taste of the mutton.
The fame Indonesian Dancing Fish aka Ikan Nila Goreng (RM30.40 - medium RM40.40 - big) which is a skilful fillet of the Ikan Tilapia fish and deep fried to a nice crunchy crisp. Love it when eaten with the Sambal Merah and Sambal Hijau or with the other curries.
Other dishes that we had was the Dendeng Balado - which is a Deep Fried Slice beef with Sauteed Chillies (RM8.40). The thinly sliced beef is deep fried to a nice crisp and served with sauteed chillies.
Another beef dish that we had is the Rendang Daging (RM8.40). The meat was cooked to the right texture. As it has been cooked for hours, the spices are infused into the meat making it extremely flavourful and addictive.
For those that love the Siput Senduk Masak Lemak (RM8.00) which is cooked in coconut milk.
For the vegetable dish, we had the Sayur Masak Lemak Pucuk Ubi (RM5.50).
Another side dish that you can't stop eating once you start is the Kerepek Kentang (RM6.90). Fried to a nice crispy and once you start to eat it you can't seem to stop.
For drinks, there are a few speciality drinks namely the Indonesia Teh Botol - RM5.00 from Indonesia
the Alpokat RM11.70 - which is a fresh avocado juice with chocolate syrup
and Es Teler RM10.50 which is Indonesia version of our ABC, but with condiments such as Avocado, Nangka, Buah Kabung and Sago.
Nasi Box which is like a Bento box is gaining popularity in Indonesia and Grand Sari Ratu Prima is offering this Nasi Box where you can order with your favourite dish. It comes together with a bottle of mineral water.
