Petaling Street Food: Luckin Kopi which is located at No 14, Jalan Panggong Kuala Lumpur; the back lane is also known as Kwai Chai Hong 鬼仔巷 (Ghost Lane) adjacent to the popular Petaling Street Kuala Lumpur Chinatown has just opened its shop one month ago serving popular Malaysian fare.
Housed in a heritage building which is more than 150 years old, it was perfectly refurbished to the charm of its hey-day to gives you the feel of old-time Kopitiam. One of the main objectives of Luckin Kopi is to enliven the nostalgic emotion with its offering of comfort food that was served during that era, which will mesmerise you to the good old carefree days.
If you are above 50 years old or more and was living in this part of Kuala Lumpur Chinatown areas during the '50s and '60s, the memories of childhood will be refreshed instantly; the minute you walk into the Kopitiam. Looking on to the architecture of the shop and the decor will transform you into that era. What was missing for me; thou was the sound of the '50s.
The named Luckin Kopi was chosen as it inspired to bring luck and comfort to their dining guests which sounds like Luck In your pocket - you know what I meant. Under the cashier desk, there is a couple of Oranda fish which is thought to symbolise good luck and fortune; which set the decoration theme of this Kopitiam. If you look at the logo, The Oranda fish is also used as the logo of the Luckin Kopi.

During our visit; we found out that there are a number of promotions by Luckin Kopi that interest us; namely the breakfast promotion menu
and lunch promotion which includes an unlimited Kopi Kaw (lunch promotion menu) with each set meal that is ordered.
The coffee which hailed from Muar, Johor has the right balance of bitterness and aroma; one that you expect from a nice brew of Malaysian coffee shop coffee which we are accustomed to.
There are a number of mains dishes that you can order for breakfast which starts from 7am. As a Malaysian, Nasi Lemak is synonymous to every Malaysian; will definitely be a great start. Although the level of spiciness is not too strong, it was at a level that many will find it quite good.
Next on, it is Fried Mee Siam, a version of Fried Mee Hoon with a special spicy sourish taste.
As you know nowadays many have a liking to instant noodles, here at the Kopitiam, their rendition is an Indo mee goreng that is served with sambal, cucumber and topped with a sunny side up, just like the Nasi Lemak and Mee Siam.
For those that want to enjoy their breakfast toast, would want to order the Kaya Butter Toast set instead and accompanied by the half-boiled eggs for a light hearty breakfast.
Other nostalgic breakfast options that are served here include the likes of Cream Crackers with Kaya spread.
For fans of the Malaysian Kuih-Muih, you get to sample some of these fares at Luckin Kopi too. I would say the menu offering for breakfast is quite a lot to choose from. These local breakfast fares will be a good combination with a nice cup of strong local coffee.
Luckin Kopi also serves the popular breakfast item such as the Chee Cheong Fun which comes with sweet sauce and chilli sauce.
Moving along; for the lunch and dinner dishes will include the likes from Penang the Assam Laksa (RM9.90)
While a rendition of a Korean style Fried Chicken known as Cheesy Chicken & Fries (RM 26.90) comes with a bed of melting cheese that will surely invoke the tastebuds of Korean fans.
There is also another cheesy dish option with the Cheesy Indo Mee & Egg (RM 14.90) which is Indo Mee Goreng served with melting gooey cheese.
Another main dish is the Salted Egg Chicken Rice (RM 11.90).

while those that want a simple soup might opt for the Herbal Chicken Soup RM 12.90 with a bowl of white rice.
