Da Long Yi Hot Pot Review: Over the past 10 years, Hot Pot is beginning to gain following in Malaysia. Popular Hot Pot names like Haidilao or Xiao Long Kan have being sprouting out in Malaysia especially in the Klang Valley.
Da Long Yi Hot Pot 大龙燚火锅 is known throughout the world with more than 300 outlets serves Authentic Sichuan Style Hotpot from Chengdu and we had the pleasure to review the offering of this Mala Hot Pot.

What makes Da Long Yi Hot Pot different from the others is their Signature Mala Spicy Soup base, is the use of Butter into the concoction to make this Mala Soup. I personally find that this Mala has less mouth numbing effect, which suits me perfectly. Of course, if you like your mouth numbing sensation, you can request for extra spicy level to achieve this sensation.
Secondly, the pricing structure of its soup base, was also out of the standard norms. Normally in Hot Pot restaurant, you will be charged a much more higher prices as the number of soup base that you ordered. But it is in reverse at Da Long Yi; the more soup base the lesser the price.
Our other soup base include the Mushroom Soup base
The reason being so is, the Da Long Yi wanted you to be able to enjoy all the other soup base rather than just one taste. This is great as sometimes when we dine out with children, there is a need for non-spicy soup like the tomato based option which you need to pay extra for.
Thirdly, at Da Long Yi Hot Pot Kota Damansara, there are a few unique fresh ingredients that you don't see much on offer. We got to taste a few of them starting with Signature Platter which consist of Beef Tripe, Duck Intestine and Pork Aorta which each of them, gives a firm chewy texture.
Next is the offering of the Duck Tongue,
while the Striploin Beef Slice was the real killer: The marinated beef slice is served with a fresh eggs and when simmered for about 20 seconds in the hot pot gives a natural gelatinous soft layers which was just perfect for me.
We also like the in-house made Bamboo Prawn Paste
and also the Bamboo Fish Paste
For fans of crustacean, an order of crayfish is in order. These are in limited supply, so you better check with the waiter whether these are available during your dine-in.
Other fresh ingredients includes the Grouper fillet
Pork Shoulder Slice
Marbled Beef Slice
Kelp
Pork Blood
Mushroom Platter
and Vegetable Platter
If you like to try something different, you might want to order the Beef Stick
or the Marinated Ribs.
Da Long Yi also offers a few of snack appetizer to kick start your meals. We tasted the Crispy Pork which is a deep fried pork strip.
While the Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake shares the same texture with the likes of a fried Korean Topokki.
and the special unique offering of Black Tea Stinky Tofu, for those that fancy this dish. Seriously, you don't get this dish from most restaurant in Kuala Lumpur and is such a nice treat to have it here.
To finish off your meals, you can either finish it off with a Lemon Ice Jelly or Caramel Soybean Pudding
.
If you still yearn for some Hot Pot after finishing your meal, you can also get some Hot Pot fix at home with some of the Instant Hot Pot or as gift to your friends and family.
Gift Set item are such as the Soup Base Series
Or the Rice Series (5 different flavour)
or Hot Pot Series with 5 flavours to choose from
Da Long Yi Hot Pot also offer delivery and takeaway services; if you are not comfortable to dine-in at the restaurant during the CMCO.
