Hungry Bacon: A Pork Lover’s Paradise Featuring Chef Timothy’s Creations
If you’re a serious pork lover, Hungry Bacon is one place you really need to put on your list.
We recently visited Hungry Bacon to taste a selection of dishes by Chef Timothy, and the taste and quality still score top marks. What impressed us was the variety of ways pork is presented, from Malaysian-inspired flavours and satay to smoked pork shoulder, ribs and other indulgent creations.
If pork is your favourite meat, there is plenty here to explore.
Ultimate Nachos
We started with the Ultimate Nachos, a loaded take on the classic sharing favourite.
Crispy corn tortilla chips are drizzled with warm cheese sauce and topped with signature bacon chilli con carne, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños and crispy bacon bits.
There is a lot going on in every bite, with creamy, cheesy, savoury, spicy and crunchy elements coming together. It makes a great sharing dish to start the meal.
Bacon Lollipops
The Bacon Lollipops are another fun creation from the kitchen.
These are bacon-wrapped stuffed chicken drumettes, served four pieces to a portion with mayonnaise and smoky BBQ sauce. The combination of juicy chicken, crispy bacon and smoky BBQ sauce makes this an indulgent appetiser.
Do note that this dish requires approximately 20 minutes of preparation, so it is worth ordering ahead if you are hungry.
Pork Satay
For pork lovers, the Pork Satay is definitely one to try.
The dish comes with six skewers of marinated Danish pork belly, served with satay sauce, chilli oil, pineapple chutney, cucumber and red onion.
The pork belly is rich and juicy, while the pineapple chutney adds a sweet and tangy contrast. Together with the satay sauce and chilli oil, the combination delivers plenty of flavour and texture.
The Pork Satay requires approximately 15 minutes of preparation.
Pork Shoulder Chop
One of the highlights for us was the Pork Shoulder Chop.
This is a 48-hour brined and smoked US pork shoulder chop, weighing approximately 220g, served with truffle mash, broccoli, romesco sauce, herb butter and rich gravy.
The extended brining and smoking process gives the pork a deep flavour. In fact, we found the meat itself was already so well seasoned and marinated that it could be enjoyed without the sauce.
The creamy truffle mash, romesco sauce, herb butter and rich gravy provide additional layers of flavour for those who want to make the dish even more indulgent.
Allow approximately 20 minutes of preparation for this dish.
Nasi Kerabu – Babi Percik
Hungry Bacon also puts a pork-inspired spin on a Malaysian favourite with its Nasi Kerabu – Babi Percik.
The blue pea flower rice is served with solok lada, salted egg, fresh ulam, fish crackers, budu and sambal belacan.
The result is a colourful plate packed with familiar Malaysian flavours, textures and aromas. The combination of the blue pea flower rice and traditional accompaniments gives the dish a distinctly local character.
For diners who enjoy Malaysian flavours and want to explore a different interpretation of Nasi Kerabu, this is an interesting choice.
Pork Ribs
Of course, no visit to a pork-focused restaurant would feel complete without trying the Pork Ribs.
The ribs are another hearty and indulgent choice for pork lovers, delivering the rich, satisfying character expected from a good rib dish.
Together with the Pork Shoulder Chop and Pork Satay, the Pork Ribs reinforce what Hungry Bacon does best — putting pork front and centre.
Desserts Worth Saving Room For
After enjoying all those savoury dishes, we moved on to the desserts. Hungry Bacon offers several classic favourites, and we tasted three of them.
Chocolate Lava Cake
The Chocolate Lava Cake is served warm with a rich molten chocolate centre.
Cut into the cake and the warm chocolate filling flows out, creating the perfect combination with the accompanying Forty Licks vanilla ice cream.
It is an indulgent dessert and an easy recommendation for chocolate lovers.
Apple Crumble
The Apple Crumble offers a comforting combination of warm baked apples and a golden, buttery crumble.
It is served with Forty Licks vanilla ice cream, giving you a delicious contrast between the warm apples and crumble and the cold, creamy ice cream.
Crème Brûlée
The Crème Brûlée keeps things classic — a smooth, baked vanilla custard finished with a crisp caramelised sugar crust.
The contrast between the brittle caramelised topping and creamy vanilla custard makes this a satisfying way to end the meal.
Specialty Drink – Assam The Bois
We also tasted one of Hungry Bacon's specialty drinks, Assam The Bois.
Its refreshing profile provides a pleasant contrast to the richer pork dishes, making it a good option to accompany a hearty meal.
Our Verdict
After tasting Chef Timothy’s selection, our verdict is clear — Hungry Bacon continues to score top marks for taste and quality.
What makes the experience enjoyable is the variety. Pork is presented in different forms and flavour profiles, from Pork Satay and Pork Shoulder Chop to Pork Ribs and Nasi Kerabu – Babi Percik.
The desserts also deserve attention, particularly if you have a sweet tooth. The Chocolate Lava Cake, Apple Crumble and Crème Brûlée provided a satisfying finish to the meal.
But if there is one thing we can say with certainty:
If you are a pork lover, you really have to taste the dishes at Hungry Bacon.
