Italian Food connoisseur at the nearby neighbour of Sri Petaling Kuala Lumpur is in for a real treat as the recently opened Passione Ristorante Italiano aka Passione Italian Restaurant has just recently opened its door at 19, Jalan Radin Bagus 9, Sri Petaling, 57000 Kuala Lumpur to serve you some of its artisanal Italian cuisines.

Passione Ristorante Italiano is a casual Italian dining with a cosy ambience and is the brainchild of a well-travelled Italian Chef. Chef Stefano which hails from the Italian town of Abruzzo is well known for its pasta dishes.



Here at the restaurant, he showcases his skills in the handcrafted Italian always fresh pasta and pizza offering with an on-premise high heat Wood Fired Oven.

The menu offering of Passione Ristorante Italiano features a wide selection of pork-based dishes promising pork food lovers with a unique experience of authentic Italian cuisine that is not commonly available in Malaysia.

We had the opportunity to taste out some of his special dishes starting with the AntiPasto All'Italiana which is a selection of premium wafer-thin slices of cold cuts that are paired with cheese and Italian pickles. Perfectly, matched with a glass of white wine.

Next on, we had the Spaghetti Chitarra Al Porcini. The spaghetti was made inhouse handmade and we can see it from the unique broader cross-section and the porous texture of the spaghetti.



The chef uses a tool which has a nicknamed of a guitar from which the name Chitarra is derived. The spaghetti is then cooked within a brown sauce together with the cube porcini mushroom as the sauce is absorbed into the spaghetti.

For the main course, we had the Guancia Iberica Al Montepulciano Con Verdure Al Vapore. It is actually an Iberica Pork Jowl which is braised in red wine sauce and is served with steamed vegetables. The braising was done to perfection as the meat texture is fork tender and literally melt in the mouth.

For desserts, we had the Tiramisu which is a classic Italian dessert of coffee flavoured ladyfingers with mascarpone cheese and crunchy chocolate.

It was truly an experience of the Italian way of dining and tasting the fine Italian dishes that were specially crafted out by Chef Stefano.

Passione Ristorante Italiano was set up for one to enjoy the fine art of western cuisine which has a Cocktail bar on the ground floor for some pre-meal cocktails. Among some of the recommended cocktails include the Mela Gin & Tonic, Maestro Viola, La Signora Rosa and Calamansi Cielo. The bar also serves speciality Peroni Italian Beer.

Good news For Japanese Hot Pot fan. Japan’s most successful Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki restaurant has finally made its way into Malaysian shores! Strategically located in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur, Mo-Mo-Paradise is located at 4th Floor, Lot 10 Shopping Centre in Bukit Bintang is the first Mo-Mo-Paradise outlet in Malaysia.

“We see the Japanese hotpot concept of Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki as a symbol of kinship and togetherness. Founded in 1993, Mo-Mo-Paradise first opened its doors in Shinjuku Kabukicho, Tokyo. Dubbed as the traditional Japanese hotpot with a modern twist, Mo-Mo-Paradise’s goal is simple – to provide the ultimate Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki experience, with a special focus on a wide variety of fresh, high-quality ingredients, accompanied by warm hospitality, all at a reasonable price. 

An ‘All-You-Can-Eat’ concept, the first Mo-Mo-Paradise outlet in Kuala Lumpur presents two distinct styles of Japanese hotpot - Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki. 

Customers can choose Shabu-Shabu, the original light broth to be enjoyed with ponzu and gomadare (sesame) sauce, which is specially formulated by Mo-Mo-Paradise and is directly imported from Japan. 

For a richer, sweet-salty flavour, customers can opt for Sukiyaki, the traditional broth from Shoudo Island. 

At Mo-Mo Paradise, team members will be there every step of the way, to guide you through the process of choosing your meats, right up to cooking at the table. For example, if you are new to  Mo-Mo Paradise, its staff will demonstrate the right way to enjoy this Shabu-Shabu.

This Japanese hotpot dish consists of thinly sliced meat and vegetables that are boiled in water. Cooked piece by piece, the food is cooked by the diner at the table! 

An onomatopoeic term, Shabu-Shabu refers to the sound emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot before it is served with dipping sauces. 

Similar to Shabu-Shabu, Sukiyaki also cooks thinly sliced meat and vegetables before serving with a dipping sauce. 

What makes it different is the method of cooking, as well as the distinctive broth and dipping sauce. With Sukiyaki, you put all vegetables and meat together in a pot of simmering broth. The broth has a rich flavour, made of salty-sweet soy-based seasoning. 

Customers then choose from the mouthwatering selection of different types of meat such as sakura pork that is sourced locally and beef that is air flown from Australia. The meats are carefully sliced and kept in a strictly controlled temperature before serving. 

The vegetable bar is an impressive sight with more than 20 types of vegetables, sourced locally and carefully selected to ensure utmost freshness.

ISHIN JAPANESE RESTAURANT OLD KLANG ROAD KUALA LUMPUR

Ishin Japanese Restaurant located at 202, Persiaran Klang, Batu 3 3/4, Off Old Klang Road, 58000 Kuala Lumpur is very popular for bringing in premium Japanese produce to be savoured by its avid followers.



Each time you dine at Ishin Japanese Restaurant; you will have a sense of having had a satisfying meal. This is due to the experience that Chefs has to serve their Japanese dishes to suit the demanding palate of its diners especially the current season produce of Japan.



We had a chance to taste out; some of the speciality dishes at Ishin Japanese Restaurant recently. To start off our dinner; we ordered the Gyuniku Tataki. Using the premium sirloin cut, the beef is grilled to medium rare, sliced and served with grated radish/ fresh chillies, minced garlic and chopped scallions. You can mince on the soft texture of the beef which marries perfectly to the citrusy sauce that came with it.



One can't miss out having this Dobin Mushi – Tea Pot Clear Soup. It is a clear broth with a nice clean taste. We like how it was presented and how to get the maximum taste. You start off drinking the clear soup from the teacup as it is. This ensures that you taste out the natural flavour of the soup.



Then you can add a tinge of lime to it and it takes you to another level of taste. As you enjoy the soup, you can take off the teapot covers where you will find a prawn, shiitake mushroom and soft Taufoo which you can eat it.

A Japanese dinner isn't complete without an order of Sashimi. For tonight we ordered the Sashimi Moriawase - Chef Selection. One of the reasons why diners keep coming back to Ishin Japanese Restaurant is the sashimi offering for the freshness of the seafood. The clam was very nice with the chewy texture; while the flying fish was superb and the prawn with a bouncy texture that has you lingering for more.

Our next dish from the Teppanyaki menu is indeed an interesting offering which is the Hokkaido King Crab with Duck Liver. This dish called for the use of two exquisite ingredients namely Foie Gras and the Hokkaido King Crab. The duck liver is lightly teppan-fried which has a slight char on the outside and melt in the mouth texture on the inside and is served with meaty crab over butter, soy sauce and fried garlic for the extra flavour.

For the deep fried dish, we ordered the Tori Kaarage. Unlike the Tori Kaarage which are served at other restaurants; at Ishin, each piece of chicken meat is crafted to have only a thin layer of meat; This makes eating this Kaarage a real delight as you can taste the crunchy and crispy combination all in one bite as compared with others which has a big chunks of meat.

The star of the night is our order of the Matsuzaka Wagyu Beef Stone Grill. This wagyu steak is cooked on a hot stone over an open flame. You got a choice of either having the staff to grill it and you can DIY. The premium Wagyu meat leaves up to its name and the marbling of the steak was nice and of course, you can experience not only the sound of the grill, the aroma and every bite of this melt in mouth texture and taste.



The dish comes with a sauce which is a concoction of miso and salt, but frankly, I love the lightly grill soft texture and its natural taste of this premium cut of Wagyu.

Finally, if you still have any stomach space left; you can order the Yaki Udon to fill up your space. The Yaki Udon is stir-fried with chicken and vegetables, topped with bonito flakes for extra flavour.



After a hearty meal, we decided to have a refreshing order of Mix Fruits Platter to cleanse our palate.



As we were ordering our dessert, the staff recommended us to try a not on the menu Musang King ice-cream; which as a fan of the king of Fruit; it was a no-brainer to order it. Taste wise was not too bad, but if they were Musang King flesh in it, it would have made it to my must-eat list.
