To celebrate the completion of my son 'O' levels exam recently, we plan to take a leisure Penang holiday with the family and decided to check out 2 very popular hotel in Penang island. Our first day of our stay is at the popular Hotel Equatorial Penang.
This hotel is one of the first 5 Star hotel in Penang. Set 77 m above sea level, Hotel Equatorial Penang offers a 360 degrees panoramic and scenic view of Bukit Jambul and is located strategically to the Penang International Airport, the two Penang Bridges, and the bustling hub of Bayan Lepas which is just a short drive away. It is also a 20-minute drive from the UNESCO certified heritage city of George Town.

Upon arrival at the Hotel Lobby for our 3 Days 2 Nights Penang holiday, we were greeted with a voluminous, airy and natural lit lobby, where you will be amazed by the architecture design of this 26 years old Hotel that was refurbished recently.

The Hotel Equatorial Penang has many facilities for its guest among them is a fully-equipped fitness centre, massage and spa facilities, indoor squash, outdoor tennis among the many facilities that we will be checking out later.

You can also go to a nature trail - within the hotel or hiking & jogging trail outside the hotel (Bukit
Jambul Hill area) ; while the complimentary shuttle service which takes one to the major shopping malls, Batu Feringgi beach, and the heritage city of George Town is also available from the Hotel.
Adjacent to the hotel and within walking distance is the international 18-hole Penang Golf Club where golfers can have a leisure round of golf with family and friends.
There are a number of dining options that are available at Hotel Equatorial Penang which include French cuisine at The View, Cantonese/Szechuan specialties at Golden Phoenix, Japanese delights at Kampachi, the international and local cuisine at nada lama, and a poolside lounge of which we are going to check out some of these dining outlet during our stay at the hotel.

We checked into the Premier Suite as my family of three can easily be accommodated in the spacious suite which offers a commanding view of the Penang bridge and the Bukit Jambul vicinity.

The suite has a nice, comfortable and spacious living room area where it is equipped with TV, Sofa set and a working desk to catch up on your work or just to browse on the Internet.

Our Suite is tastefully furnished, and offer facilities that range from minibar to internet protocol TV (IPTV) which are personalized the minute you turn on the TV. It also provides free in-room movies on demand should you decide to spend your time to relax in the hotel rooms.

While a short walk across the living room, we entered into our bedroom which is equipped with a full King Size bed and an add-on bed for my son.

There is also a TV and a desk area for you to work on both at the Living and the bedroom.
while the wardrobe is equipped with facilities that includes iron, ironing board and bathrobe too. You need not pack this stuff when you stay here.

Other features which are available from our suite is the free WiFi - my son was extremely pleased with it (so that he can browse on the high speed internet access) and also Tea Making facilities.

One of the privileges of staying in a suite is that, you can even order your pillow of choice, there is actually a Pillow menu from you to choose from.

All rooms have an individual balcony that offers a breezy scenic and breathtaking view of the Penang bridge from afar.
The Hotel Equatorial Penang houses two column free Grand Ballrooms; reputed to be the largest on the island that can house up to 2,000 people at any one time. There are also 21 other function rooms which can be opened up based on customer requirement for their event.

This is one of the other privilege of staying in a suite at Hotel Equatorial Penang, as you will have unlimited access to the Equator Club Lounge located on the first floor of the Hotel, where there is a lounge and drinks which are served from 6 am to 11 pm daily.
Food for Breakfast are served from 6.30am to 10.30am.
We decided to check out Equator Club to have a light breakfast.
We find the Equator Club an ideal place to have a nice quiet breakfast before the start of the day with minimum crowd traffic normally associated with Hotel Breakfast.
We truly enjoyed our simple and quiet breakfast as we expected to be a long day ahead.
After breakfast, we wanted to check out the swimming pool but unfortunately it was raining and we just manage to walk around the nice pool.
The swimming pool is 50m long outdoor swimming pool that comes with a dashing waterfall and indoor Jacuzzi to massage your tired soul. We really like the layout the of the swimming pool which also have a Jacuzzi as well. Probably, on our next visit we will take a dip in it.
Since it was raining, we decided to check out the Equinox Fitness Centre which is a fully equipped with the latest fitness equipment.
where we did some workout on some of the Equipment i.e. the treadmill to sweat it out.
For me, I decided on the sauna to sweat it out as it is less hassle and less tiring.

Although we did not manage to use all facilities available, we nevertheless enjoy our stay at Hotel Equatorial Penang. We hope that during our next visit, we will be able to cover the other facilities too.
