The second promotion is the GROUPER NABE SET at RM 38 Sea Grouper Set Meal: Sashimi & Nabemono for 2 people at RM 38 (Normal price: RM 68.00).
For most of the time, you probably have eaten salmon or tuna sashimi, but here with a twist, Tansen Izakaya brings you the special air-flown Sea Grouper as the choice of fish. The fish arrives as Live and will be cut and will be served to diners which ensures total freshness (Watch our video for the cutting of the fish).
Actually, this is my second time tasting Grouper as sashimi; slice to a wafer-thin slice, it was a real tasting experience either eaten as it is or Shabu-Shabu it. With a nice soft-firm texture that blends with the natural flavour of the fish and the clear broth, it is indeed a nice tasting experience.
Diners can enjoy the freshest Sea Grouper having it in 2 cooking style which is as Sashimi and Nabemono a Japanese hot pot style with the soup and eaten together with Kombu, mushrooms, vegetables and Sake.
For the entire December 2019 month, you can get the Grouper Sashimi & Nabemono at RM1.00 with a purchase of the Hokkan Sen 1.8L at RM168.00.
For fans of Sashimi, you might want to order the Sashimi Platter - 9 Kind (RM138.00). For our set, it came with a serving of Salmon, Salmon Belly, Grouper, Ebi, Tako, Tuna, Ika, Bonito and seasonal fish such as Hamachi too.
Our next dish is called the Premium Overflow (RM38.00). For sashimi fans, here is a special dish that will entice your taste-bud with a combo of assorted raw fish which consist of Salmon, Tuna, Hamachi and is served with Edamame, Dashmaki and Zucchini that are cut into cubes before being topped generously with Tobiko and Ikura which offers a new way for eating raw fish.
Next, we had 2 other special dish which is Tansen Prawn. The fresh prawns are laid on a bed of burning hot charcoal that feels like the prawns were having a sauna. This preserves the natural flavours of the prawns and meat texture as it does not overcook the prawns, yet encapsulating the slight char taste in the prawn .
Tansen Clam - similar cooking style with the Tansen Prawns.
In Japan, the tradition of eating in izakayas are a normal affair which starts off with a few selection of yakitori which is one of the fancied food that is to be paired with a beer or sake. Normally, these are eaten before the main meals kinda like an appetiser. At Tansen Izakaya they offer more than 25 types of skewers to choose from, which includes the likes of Chicken wings, Pork belly, Enoki Roll, Asparagus Roll, Leek Roll, Chicken and Eggplant.
What's more, you can watch the Chef grilling these skewers from the kitchen thru the glass enclosure.
Moving along the grill item section, it is followed by the Grilled Scallop Shoyu RM 11.00 For 2 Pcs with 3 flavours to choose from i.e. Shoyu, Mayo Cheese or Gratan.
while the next grilled item is the Grilled Squid Teriyaki RM 20.00 - which also has 3 flavours to choose from Shioyaki, Teriyaki, Himono
The last grilled item that we tasted was the Himono One-Night Air Dried Fish. There are a number of air-dried fish (which is marinated with salt) that you can choose from which include Saba, Sanma, Snapper, Hokke, Threadfin and even the Squid.
For fans of deep-fried food - Kushikatsu which is another type of appetiser of skewers, there are more than 20 varieties of seafood, pork, chicken and vegetables that you can order from the restaurant. AS with the yakitori skewers, these deep-fried selection is also a perfect companion with a cold icy beer or sake.
Another deep-fried food that we tasted is the Chicken Namban Don RM 20.00
Well, if you still got some space in your stomach, you can have a try with the Mentaiko Fried Rice.
