BANGSAR FOOD: Urban Daybreak Bangsar which is located at 11, Jalan Telawi 5, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, marked another milestone today with the launch of their new dinner menu aptly named, Urban After Dark. For those familiar with the restaurant, Urban Daybreak specialises in Australian all-day breakfast.
Urban After Dark incorporates Australia’s diversified culture by combining Asian and Western flavours into the new menu. “This is one of the menus since Urban Daybreak's launching that makes me fall in love with food all over again,” says Douglas Goh, the Head Chef of Urban Daybreak. “We see this as an outbreak of our norms, challenging the untouched since we opened Urban Daybreak in Penang.

We started our tasting session with starters from the new menu, the first of which is the Crispy White Bait (RM23.00). The whitebait is first battered with salt and pepper and deep-fried to a nice crisp. Served with in-house made miso-based dipped, it is a very addictive dish; that you will keep munching pieces after pieces. It is also the best complimentary snack that goes well with a glass of wine.
Next, on the table is the Pulled Pork (RM23.00)which is served with toast and comes with a spicy mustard sauce.
Another starter that we had is the Grilled Prawn Salsa (RM25.00). The poached prawn cubes and cherry tomatoes are mixed in with the tangy and refreshing salsa mix and served with chips.
The fourth starter we had is the Roasted Curry Cauliflower (RM16.00). The cauliflower is lightly battered with curry powder and roasted. It is served with mint yoghurt dip.
and the last starters is the Hot Chicken (RM22.00)which is coated with a crafted spicy batter, deep-fried and served with sour cream dipping sauce.
In the new menu, there is a couple of mains dish, we ordered the Ribeye Steak (RM35.00). You can place your order for the meat doneness and for me it will always be medium-rare. The 150-gram ribeye steak is sliced up for ease to eat and it has a nice texture which is topped with sea salt. Served with the good old Australian style which comes with a sunny side up eggs and the vegetables that came with it was the asparagus.
For the fish dish, the new menu presents the Miso Glazed Salmon (RM38.00). The salmon was panfried to a nice char on the skin while the inside meat was just well done. Combining with an Asian twist this fish dish is served with furikake butter rice.
Another standout contender would be the BBQ Glazed Meatloaf (RM28.00), that encapsulates Western’s zest with another Asian twist with the inclusion of chilli jam.
Our last order of the mains is the Creamless Carbonara (RM33.50). This dish is rather unique in that the carbonara served here is much like the Aglio-olio style but was a nice change to the one that we are used to. Cooked with pancetta, with a nice combination of Parmigiano and Reggiano cheese that gives it a distinctive taste.
On our way out we noticed that there is little pot of alfalfa that are planted on the outside terrace which is used as topping for some of the dishes.
