Cafe Petaling Jaya : Crema Crema Cafe @ Petaling Jaya New Town

There aren't many cafes in the Petaling Jaya New Town area, as most are concentrated on areas where younger generations hang out like Kota Damansara or Uptown. We found this newly opened cafe which is Crema Crema Cafe @ Petaling Jaya New Town which serves an array of delicious Western fares.

Crema Crema Cafe Address
44, Jalan 52/4, PJ NewTown
Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Started by 3 young food enthusiast with a strong penchant for good food and coffee, the setup at the Crema Crema Cafe @ Petaling Jaya New Town is one of a pretty chic with the walls around the cafe adorned with cheeky murals.

We started off our tasting with a breakfast offering of the Crema Crema version Egg Benedict (RM24.00). You can have it anytime of the day at this cafe. The runny poached eggs are served with a fresh portobello mushroom together with fresh lettuce; topped with an in-house made hollandaise sauce bedded with waffles. We especially like the mushroom and the waffles which make a great compliment pretty well to each other.

Next, we had the fusion pasta which is the Seafood Laksa Pesto (RM23.00). The in-house special laksa pesto sauce which has a blend of Daun Kesum Herbs and Bunga Kantan gives out a hint taste of the Assam Laksa taste. We find it just right as it was very fragrant and mix well cooking together with the squids, prawns, and mussels. For those that loves it a little more sourish, you can add some lime juice over it too.

After that, we had the Carbonara Spaghetti (RM23.00). This pasta looks simple but tasted good; as the cream sauce are blended well to the pasta unlike some which are either overly wet or sticky.  It is served with julienned Turkey Ham with slices of Beef Bacon and mushrooms.

Then we proceeded to the mains dish which is the Grilled Chicken Chop (RM17.00). The chicken was fried to a crisp on the outside while maintaining the succulent texture of the meat. It comes with a separate sauce. It is served with mashed potatoes, salads, baked tomatoes with a choice of either the mushroom, black pepper, creamy tomatoes or the signature coffee sauce which we had. We like the coffee sauce as it was not too strong of coffee and it did goes well with all the other ingredients that came with the dish.

and the last mains is the Lamb Shanks (RM32.00). The lamb shanks are braised with a tomato based sauce and served with mashed potatoes, salad, and baked tomatoes. We find the texture of the meat to be a little tougher (as we prefer the fork tender texture for our lamb shanks) and have feedback to the owner accordingly.

while for Desserts, we had the in-house made Tiramisu (RM15.00) which has a nice smooth coffee flavor with the right balance of mascarpone cheese coupled with layers of Italian ladyfinger and chocolate chips for some additional bite to this lovely dessert.

For a limited time during the afternoon tea break you get a FREE in-house made Salted Egg Croissant or Lava Cheese Tart for every cup of coffee you order! This is a limited time offer.

Overall we did enjoy some of the nicely prepared dishes at Crema Crema @ Petaling Jaya New Town.

Setapak Cafe : La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant PV128 Setapak - A Neighbour Cafe

Setapak is well known for many of its food offerings. We came about La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant formerly known Tappers Cafe which is located at PV128 Setapak which was recently opened for some western food with a local touch.

La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant Address
G-M 26, PV128, Jalan Genting Kelang,
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

At La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant; one of its key offerings is that food must be served in a jiffy especially for lunch customers where time is limited. For those that have the time, you can sit in; to enjoy the colonial setting that this cafe offers.

At La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant, it is a 2 in one cafe where freshly baked pastries are offered to its customers.

Each of these pastries is baked in small quantity and only when it is finished, a new batch will go into the oven; this is to ensure customers will not have to live with stale pastry and wastages.

We started our review with a hearty Big Breakfast Set (RM13.90). Customers have the option to choose either the Chicken Ham or Beef Bacon. The set comes with sauteed mushroom, scrambled eggs, a piece of hash brown, sausage, baked beans and a piece of toast. For any order of the breakfast set, it is served with either a cup of tea or coffee.

Next, we tried out some of the Lunch Set promotion; the first of which is the Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM13.90).  The Chicken chop is fried to a nice brown crisp and is served with baked potatoes, carrots, and green beans. Customers have a choice of whether to have their Hainanese sauce served separately or as a topped on to the Chicken Chop.

For fans of creamy carbonara, this second Lunch Set which is the Spaghetti Carbonara With Chicken Ham (RM14.90) will surely be your choice.

The next dish is suitable for a vegan or non-meat eater as the spaghetti is cooked Aglio Olio and topped with a sauteed mushroom sauce with a Fried Tofu. The tofu steak is lightly coated with a special batter and then lightly fried to give you a nice bite texture. This dish is called Spaghetti Aglio Olio With Tofu Steak (RM13.90).

the last lunch set, we had; is the Fish and Chip Set (RM13.90). Kids will normally like this as it is very easy to eat and the dish is served with French Fries and coleslaw. For all the set lunch orders; for an additional of RM1.00 customer get to order a Honey Lemon, Lemon Tea, Lime Juice or  Sirap Bandung.

We then moved on to taste 3 more dishes from the La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant menu; the first of which is the Chicken Chop With Mushroom Sauce (RM14.90). This is quite similar to the Hainanese Chicken Chop except that the sauce is the Mushroom sauce and the sides are the fried potatoes wedges.

followed by the Chicken Parmigiana (RM14.90). The fried boneless chicken thigh is topped with a melted cheese and served with French Fries and Salads.

the last dish from the main menu that we had is the Chicken Picatta (RM13.90). We really like the savory capers sauce that came with the grilled chicken breast. This chicken dish is served with mash potatoes with a nice brown sauce. Perfectly complimented to the chicken meat.

At La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant, there also serves an array of Pizza which has a thin crust base that gives a crunchy bite. The first Pizza we tasted is the Margarita Pizza (RM12.90), which is topped with tomatoes, basil, and cheese.

Next, we had the Hawaiian Pizza (RM13.90). Comprising of small chunks of chicken meat with pineapples and a generous amount of cheese topping.

The last Pizza is the Okonomi Pizza (RM13.90), this is a fusion pizza which is married to a Japanese influence that uses a mayonnaise-based with a topping of Bonito flakes.

Overall we find the La Figue Cafe Bakery Restaurant offering a wide variety of popular Western fares in a nice cozy environment without burning a big hole in your wallet.
