BREADFRUITS @ DESA SRI HARTAMAS KUALA LUMPUR 03-6201 0090

BREAD FRUITS @ DESA SRI HARTAMAS KUALA LUMPUR

SRI HARTAMAS FOOD: Once in a while we have craving for some real smoke dishes. Actually, there aren't many restaurants that serve credible smoke dishes in Kuala Lumpur. We had a taste out at the BreadFruits which is located at 17, Jalan 26/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480, Kuala Lumpur especially on these smoked dishes.

BREAD FRUITS @ DESA SRI HARTAMAS KUALA LUMPUR

BreadFruits has been in operation for quite a while at bustling Desa Sri Hartamas and have recently opened a new outlet in Taman Desa, Old Klang Road. Bread Fruits are more popular for their offering of breakfast and fusion dishes which we had an opportunity to taste it later.

Don's Warong @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas - Authentic Johor Street Food

Don's Warong @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas - Authentic Johor Street Food

Don's Warong @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas

Don's Warong which is located B-0-4, Plaza Damas, Jalan Sri Hartamas 1, Taman Sri Hartamas, Desa Sri Hartamas 50480 Kuala Lumpur is famed for its popular Johor street food. You can check out Don's Warong Facebook page for more information.

Although it has been opened for business for more than 6 years now, we have just gotten the chance to taste some of its famous dishes such as the Laksa Johor (only served on Sat and Sun) and many more dishes as we take the gastro journey to the South of Malaysia, Johor.

Don's Warong has its origin from the famous Uncle Don which is a Malay style Warong in Sri Hartamas. With some recipes pass over from the Uncle Don, you can be sure of its authentic taste. You can check out the published recipe book Johor Palate which is co-author by Don's Warong owner mother (sister of Uncle Don); if you want to try your hand at cooking some of these dishes.

Mee Rebus Johor

We start off our dinner with an order of the famed Mee Rebus Johor (RM12). Served with a thick gravy with condiments on the side such as the fried keropok, bean sprout, beef meat, eggs and Taufu Goreng is a real treat.

DW Sup Tulang

Next on our table is the DW Sup Tulang (RM15). The broth is boiled with a combination of spices with thick chunks of meaty bones that the tender meat falls off from the bones together with potatoes, carrots and onions make it a wholesome meal with a bowl of steaming white rice.

Dons Warong Nasi Lemak Kukus Johor With Ayam Goreng Berempah

We heard that the Nasi Lemak Kukus Johor With Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM12.50) was very popular with the crowd at Don's Warong. An order of this dish is probably mandatory. There are only 2 things that distinguish between a good and bad Nasi Lemak for me. One is the rice must be rich and aromatic while the second thing which is the sambal should be a balance of sweetness, savoury and spicy level. In this 2 points; it passed our benchmark for a truly delicious Nasi Lemak.

Nasi Goreng Kampung Muar With Ayam Goreng Berempah

If you are not a fan of the Nasi Lemak; you can try out the Nasi Goreng Kampung Muar With Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM15). The Fried rice is fried with spices and the chef has fried it to the right Wok Hei. This Fried rice is served with keropok and a special sambal belacan sauce on the sides.

The Don Burger

At Don's Warong; besides serving the Johor popular dishes; you can also find a few western dishes; one of the best western dishes is The Don Burger (RM19) which is a quarter pound beef patty sandwiched in between buttered bun which is topped with beef bacon slices, fried eggs, lettuce, tomatoes, onions rings and bedded with a special sauce. Served on the sides are Fries.

Cucur Udang Special

There are a few appetisers that one can choose from at Don's Warong; either as a starter or for your in-between meal snacks. One of the snacks that we tried is the Cucur Udang Special (RM8). The batter is in-house made and fried ala-minute to ensure that you get to enjoy this crispy on the outside and soft on the inside snacks. It is served with Mak Li homemade chilli sauce.

Keropok Lekor MokCik

The second appetizer we tasted is the Keropok Lekor MokCik (RM9)- this is a dish not from Johor but from the east coast states. This keropok is also served with  Mak Li homemade chilli sauce.

Ais Kacang Johor With Chocolate Sauce

For desserts; we were introduced to the Ais Kacang Johor With Chocolate Sauce (RM8).

Kopi Muar with Ice Cream

or the famed Kopi Muar with Ice Cream (RM11.50). It is kind of like float drinks, instead of a fizzy drink; they use the famous Muar coffee as its base.

Don's Warong @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas Breakfast Menu

Don's Warong also serves special breakfast and lunch set; do check out their facebook page for more details and offers.

Butaya Izakaya 豚家居酒屋 Sri Hartamas Japanese Food - Casual Japanese Dining

Sri Hartamas is a very happening place and finding a casual Japanese restaurant that serves Japanese food can be a real task. We recently found out this new place Butaya Izakaya Sri Hartamas Japanese Restaurant located at 14, Jalan Sri Hartamas 8, Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur. Link to Butaya Izakaya Facebook

One of the first stress relieving matters when dining at Butaya is the ample parking place in this little-hidden area in Sri Hartamas which is famous for difficulty in finding a place to park.

Next; the decor at Butaya Izakaya Sri Hartamas is one that offers a simple no frill Japanese decor with stools type of casual dining which you can see families dining here as well.

There are many choices of Japanese cuisine that you can choose from at Butaya Izakaya; notably the sashimi offering, Udon, Ramen, Salad and so forth. But, for me; what stands out is the Yakitori selection that you can choose from.

As a fan of pork we just felt satisfied with the different Yakitori pork offering (from RM4 onwards) which includes multiple choices of different parts of the pork which includes the innards offering like liver, kidney and etc which is not offered in other Japanese Restaurant.

The other things that I like about Yakitori meals are that these dishes are the perfect compliment with a nice cold beer or sake after a hard day at work. With a simple salt, sprinkles combine with the aroma of a freshly charcoal grill is magical enough to revive your senses.

One of the key features of an Izakaya is the offering of multiple snack dishes, we have the chance to sample a few of them i.e. the Cucumber Wih Sesame Dressing (RM8.00); As it is served chilled; this snack dish is perfect to start off for our long night.

Next, we had the Spinach Dashi (RM7.00), which is a specially concocted dashi sauce served with boiled Spinach with sprinkles of sesame seeds and julienne seaweed.

Followed by a special Luncheon Meat Tamago (RM12.00).

We particularly like the next snack dish which is Pork Karrage (RM14.00) which has a crisp on the outside and tender juicy pork meat on the inside. Served with finely chop cabbages with mayo sauce on the side.

After this, we had the crunchy and crackling Fried Pork Skin (RM9.00) which was perfect with the cold beer that we had ordered.

The other non-fried snack dish is the Boiled Salted Pork Belly Slice with Spicy Miso sauce (RM15.00); another chilled dish offering.

For Gyoza fans, you can taste the Pan Fried Gyoza (RM14.00).

Another Luncheon Meat based dish is the Luncheon Meat Egg Pizza (RM15.00).

The last dish of the snack food that we had is the Takoyaki (RM12.00).

After the snack food, we also tried out the other dish offering which is the special Sashimi selection (RM75.00)

and for those that love Pork Kidney (including yours truly) can try out this stir fried delicacy.

and for those heavy eaters; can order the Tonkatsu Ramen (RM22.00) or other choices of Ramen and Don that are available at Butaya Izakaya to filled up your tummy.

Our personal dining experience at Butaya Izakaya is one of a laissez faire where we can have a leisure taste of snack dishes with a drink; while catching out with friends and families for a long night of simple delight.

Sri Hartamas Food - Pepelicious Restaurant @ Galeria Hartamas

Tired and bored on standard Italian dishes, now you can get some variety of Italian food with a fusion twist at Pepelicious Restaurant @Sri Hartamas.

Pepelicious Restaurant Address
B-G-10, Galeria Hartamas, 21,
Jalan 26a/70a,
Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Stemming from the love of Italian food, its owners have decided to invoke their creative side to bring forth an intriguing and extraordinary taste to its customers in the bustling Sri Hartamas neighbourhood.

At Pepelicious the decor is one of a modern design with a bar for you to chill over the stressful day. It is also a really nice place where you can dine in a quiet and quaint setting with families, friends and associates.

Our dinner started with an order of the appetiser which is Nachos Parmi (RM16.90). We like the slightly sourish vegetarian based sauce which is cooked with Capsicum, Mushroom with Parmigiana sauce. The enclosed nachos are topped with melted Mozzarella Cheese. These nacho are a real treat to whet our appetite for the forthcoming dishes.

Next on the table is our salad; which is the Grilled Chicken Miso Salad (RM19.90). A simple salad that consists of Grilled Chicken with fresh Romaine Lettuce, Red Coral, Wild Rocket, Red Onion Rings and Cherry Tomatoes topped with a Poached Eggs and a special homemade Miso sauce.

Malaysian just loves their salted eggs and with that, Pepelicious Restaurant has curated a Pizza which has its main ingredient of this Malaysian favourite which is called the Fungo Mumbo (RM18.90). Cut mushroom is cooked in rich creamy salted eggs sauce and then topped with capsicum and sprinkles of indulgent salted eggs yolk to satisfy your cravings.

For those that loves a little spiciness; can taste out the Spicy Hot Chixx (RM17.90). It is minced chicken which is cooked in a fragrant spicy sauce and bedded with a creamy white sauce. Naan bread is used as the base for all its Pizza at Pepelicious Restaurant.

Our next main dish is the Yummylicious Chicken (RM27.90). The chicken chop was tender on the inside and well-marinated with a tinge of saltiness; while having a nice deep fried golden brown skin which is then topped with a generous amount of Spicy Peach Salsa and bedded with potato salad.

As Malaysian, Nasi Lemak is the favourite dish to many, but have you ever tried using Risotto as the rice for Nasi Lemak. Here at Pepelicious Restaurant; you get a chance to try this out with their Nasi Lemak Gone Italian (RM28.90). When the pot arrives, we can smell the flavorful aroma of the Santan. This Risotto based Nasi Lemak came with a serving of Anchovies Sambal and Deviled Beef Meat topped with deep fried Silver Tail anchovies. A real change from the norm for the Nasi Lemak freaks.

After all the mains dishes, it is time for dessert. We had 2 desserts for the night, the first of which is the Choc Infused (RM14.90) - a chocolate Lava cake served with a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream. Loves the smooth Lava flow and the strong chocolatey taste of the desserts. As this are in-house made, there is a limited quantity that is available for each day.

Our last dessert is the Bailey Parfait (RM17.90) - another in-house made limited quantity dessert. Nice cream parfait which is infused with Bailey's and is layered in a nice serving glass. Layered in between are chocolate sauce and layers of crush Oreo to make a sweet ending to our dinner.

So, if you are one that like, to explore on some new taste of food, Pepelicious Restaurant definitely will satisfy your craving for it with the fusion enhanced dishes that they served.
