Taste Australia Cherries and Summer Fruits Available At TESCO MALAYSIA


Australia is now harvesting all its summer fruits and you can get to enjoy these fresh, sweet, juicy and delicious premium cherries along with Australia popular summer fruit like the plum, peaches, nectarines and apricot brought to you by Taste Australia; and especially air-flown and made available for purchase at all TESCO MALAYSIA hypermarket.

From now until the middle of May; Malaysian can enjoy these Australian Summer Fruits without the need to be in Australia. As Chinese New Year is just one month away; you might want to consider to offer a Summer Fruit Basket to your families and business associates instead of the conventional Chinese New Year gift pack as giving fruits is a much healthier choice.

Gift of fruits is also ideal for their round shape and colour which are believed to symbolize prosperity and bring the recipient good fortune throughout the year.

The launch is part of Taste Australia campaign which brings Australia’s best fresh seasonal produce straight to our shelves. Fresh produce from Australia is highly sought after as they grow in a safe and clean environment with rich soils.

Australia produces some of the best tasting fresh produce and it's great that these summer fruits will be available throughout the Chinese New Year festivities as golden fruits symbolize good fortune," according to Paul Ritchie, CEO Tesco Stores (M) Sdn Bhd

Cherries and stone fruits are the best joys of summer and are tastiest when fresh. The fruits are best enjoyed naturally on its own in the freshest form or made into a popsicle, summer salad or the ever-popular Breakfast Smoothie Bowls which are a feast not only to your eyes but is great for their health benefits.

Taste Australia has engaged Nutritionist, Ms Marissa Parry, to showcase how easy it is to prepare healthy and nutritional meals using these easily available ingredients which are also perfect for our hot weather.  The nutritional benefits of cherries and stone fruits which are not just tasty but rich in vitamins and potassium while being low in fat, calories and sugar." Marissa went on to explain that cherries are considered superfood on its own while nectarines are long known as the food of the gods.  Below are three of  Marissa special recipe using the stone fruits as its base.

Australian Summer Salad Recipe

Handful mixed salad leaves
1 Australian peach
1 Australian nectarine
½ cup Australian cherries, pitted
¼ cup feta cheese
¼ cup silvered almonds
Salt to taste

1 tbsp mint, chopped
3 tbsp lemon juice
1/3 cup virgin olive oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp honey


1. To prepare the vinaigrette, in a jar combine all the ingredients and shake well. Allow to sit for awhile. 

2. To prepare the salad, add the greens to a bowl with the vinaigrette and sprinkle with salt. Add the fruit and almonds and gently toss to combine. Serve the salad topped with feta cheese.

Australian Cherries and Summer Fruits Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Ingredients (1 to 2 serves)

1 Australian peach, frozen
2 Australian nectarines, frozen
1 cup Australian cherries (pitted)
½  cup nondairy milk

*portions of fruit can vary on your preference

10 to 12 almonds and pecans
Chia seeds
Fresh fruit (Australian peaches and cherries)

1. To make the smoothie, blend the fruits and milk in a food processor until smooth.
2. Pour in to a bowl and adorn with toppings.

Australian Fruit Salad Popsicle Recipe

Australian Cherries and Summer Fruits (peaches, cherries, nectarines)
Juice (use a light coloured juice)
*Mint (optional)

1. Slice the fruits and place in popsicle molds.
2. Pour in the juice and freeze overnight.

*Mint is optional if you want to add a pop of colour.
