Eatropica Cafe which is located on the 6th Floor Lobby of Menara 1 Sentrum Brickfields has commenced business for the past 2 months. One of the objectives of Eatropica Cafe is to provide a place for a quiet meeting or casual meals or just chilled with a nice cup of coffee.

Unless you worked at the Menara 1 Sentrum you probably would not have heard of Eatropica. Eatropica Cafe is located next to the popular Nu Sentral Brickfields. To go there all you need to do is go to the 5th Floor of Nu Sentral which is the floor of GSC Cinema, there is a lift after the GSC cinema which you can take to the sixth floor. Once you exit from the lift take a left turn and walk over sky bridge into the next building which is Menara 1 Sentrum. You will see the cafe on your left-hand side.

Eatropica Cafe serves a variety of dish ranging from Western dishes to local fare. Their set lunch is really value for money and comes with a reasonable large serving portion with quality ingredients especially the sirloin steak which is grain fed aged beef.

Starting off you can choose some of the local fares offering. The one that caught our eyes was the Curry Laksa (RM15.00) which is served with yellow noodles, julienne chicken meat, cockles and bean sprouts. If you order this dish from 12 to 3pm; you can order a complimentary drink of either an ice lemon tea or a lemonade drink. We like the thick curry broth with a strong flavour of Santan taste.

Or for fans of rice; you can try out the Classic Nasi Lemak With Chicken Rendang & Traditional Condiments (RM15.00) served with a choice of White Rice or Brown Rice. If you order this dish from 12 to 3pm; you can order a complimentary drink of either an ice lemon tea or a lemonade drink. The chicken rendang has a nice flavour and suited with the condiment and the fragrant rice.

For the western fare, you might want to taste out the Penne Carbonara (RM20.00) which is served with Turkey bacon and parmesan. If you order this dish from 12 to 3pm; you can order a complimentary drink of either an ice lemon tea or a lemonade drink.

Next, we tasted the Pulled Lamb Burgers (RM25.00) which is served with feta cheese, tomato and tzatziki relish. This dish is served with salad and fries at the sides. An order of this dish between 12 to 8pm; you can order a complimentary drink of either a coca cola or an ice lemon tea.  I personally find the taste a little too gamey for me but I suppose fans of lamb will relish on this.

For the mains dishes, our first order was the Melting Morrocan Lamb Shanks (RM36.00) which is topped with Homemade apricot chutney and sweet potato mesh. We like this as the lamb shank was braised until a tender texture that literally melts in your mouth. The taste was nicely paired with the naturally sweet taste of the sweet potatoes.

For a taste of Japanese, Eatropica serves a Maguro Tuna Steak (RM45.00). Weighing at 180g it lightly pans seared and served with Wasabi Aioli.

Our last mains for the review is the Grain Fed Sirloin Steak (RM74.00) a 250g Australian Beef which have been aged for 21 days; rich in flavour and chargrilled to your liking. Served as medium rare it was a real delight to eat this special steak which was lightly marinated and pan seared. There are a few choices of sauces that you can choose from; which includes Mustard, Garlic Sauce, Black Pepper and Mustard Hollandaise sauce. We decided to play it safe with an order of the popular Black Pepper.

Salad Plus Co Restaurant @Quizinn Food Court Nu Sentral Mall Brickfields Kuala Lumpur - A light healthy meal option



Eating salad is considered a healthy option for many; Now at Salad Plus Co located at Quizinn Food Court at 3rd Floor Nu Sentral Brickfields, they offers a special variety of dressing that can make these salad more appetizing and healthy as well.


Not going with the norm of standard dressings, the owner at Salad Plus Co has developed 10 Non dairy dressings that are suitable to be eaten by vegan and another 4 dressing which is lacto-vegetarian. What's more at Salad Plus; each of these dishes has a calories count as well so you can really choose your dishes by its calories count.


Located near the entrance of the Quizinn Food Court at Nu Sentral Mall; Salad Plus Co offers a wide variety of the salads, sandwiches and wraps that goes with the in-house made special dressings. Here you can have the option of whether you want your salad as it is in a plate or as a wrap.


We started our review with the High Energy Greek Delight RM 14.30 - 400 calories. This salad is served with grilled aubergines, romaine lettuce, onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives and feta cheese with a special Greek dressing.


The second salad is the Spinach Chicken Salad RM 17.50 - 550 calories. The ingredients that are in this salad are the romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, apples, red cabbage, Parmesan cheese and croutons with yogurt Caesar dressing. This salad is served with a filling of spinach that is sandwiched with a piece of pan-fried chicken breast.


The second salad is the Japanese Miso Salad Crab Sticks & Tofu in a Spinach Wrap RM 14.30 - 600 calories is served with a miso sauce dressing of miso, sesame oil, sesame seeds, mayonnaise and premium soya sauce.accompanied with romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, spring onions, radishes and even apples goes into the wrap with Miso honey dressing with crab sticks and tofu too.


This is then followed by the Thai Salad with Chicken in a Spinach Wrap RM 14.30 - 720 calories. With the use of coriander, basil, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, mixed peppers, carrots, chilies, nuts and vermicelli and served with spicy, sweet and sourish Thai dressing (combination of lime juice, sesame seeds and ginger) in a wrap.


We then move to taste a sweet wrap which is the Hot Peanut Butter, Jam, Banana Wrap RM 7.30 - 430 calories. This wrap consist of peanut butter, bananas and drizzled with chocolate sauce.


The next dish is the Brown Rice with Steam Vegetables & Chicken Rendang RM 9.90. Serving Brown rice is definitely a healthier option compared with white rice.


Next dish is the Healthy Banana Split RM 7.30 - 335 calories. Served with a creamy rich yoghurt and topped with mixed fruits of mango, grapes, green apples, mandarin oranges, raisins, crunchy nuts and banana. A real healthy fruity meal with lots of fibre. Normally ice cream is being used for banana split but at Salad Plus it is being replaced with an in-house made yoghurt.


For those that like a little hot stuff; the Chili Beef Hot Wrap RM 14.30 - 680 calories; is served with a spicy minced beef meat with a combination of mix greens, tomatoes, peppers onions on a low fat mayo dressing.


While the Meatballs Hot Wrap RM 14.30 - 680 calories is served with meatball with a combination of mix greens, tomatoes, peppers and onions on a low fat mayo dressing.


For desserts we had the Special Home Made Yogurt Desserts RM 5.20. If you love yoghurt, then you will find this a delight to be eaten.

Simplyd Cafe is part of the Delicious Group which is owned by Eastern & Oriental Bhd that brought you the famed Delicious Cafes.


Simplyd Cafe which means Simply Delicious is a new casual dining concept and is set to change the way the customer feels about fast food. It's motto is FUN, FRESH and TASTY.


Simplyd Cafe was born out of an idea from its CEO Mr Steve Alen and his love for Malaysian amazing array of food. With a simple menu comprising of mix-and-match Pastas, Burgers and Cakes, that infused the local favourite into a western meal; and viola a new fusion dish like the Salted Egg Pumpkin Pasta is born.


With fresh and unprocessed ingredients unlike those associated with fast food, Simplyd cafe is indeed simple, unfussy, fast, fresh, great in value and most importantly tasty.


The signature dishes at Simplyd cafe are very simple i.e. Salted Egg Pumpkin Fusilli, Classic Beef Burger and Coconut Pandan Cake. There is no need for frills at Simplyd Cafe where food and drinks are served in colourful melamine bowl and plates.
