Boat Noodle has its origin from the floating markets of Ayutthaya. This inspired dish is aromatic and delicious making it an instant hit with many followers in Malaysia.

Boat Noodle Chinese New Year 2018 Special Menu

Over the years Boat Noodle with its first outlet in Empire Damansara in March 2014 which started with serving noodles has expanded its menu and now has incorporated many local Thai street foods to its menu.

To celebrate this coming Chinese New Year 2018; Boat Noodle has incorporated a few special dishes for this festivity. The first is the Prosperity Yum Beef (RM1.99) which is served with a choice of either Thai Rice Noodles

or the Prosperity Yum Beef Springy Noodles

and the Prosperity Yum Chicken - (RM 1.99) with an option of either the Thai Rice Noodles with its enticing and flavour broth

or the Prosperity Yum Chicken Springy Noodles

On top of that, is the Thai Fried Chicken - RM 12.90. For me the freshly fried chicken which was deboned making it a breeze to be eaten together with the noodle as it has a spicy crispy and crunchy feel. We just can't stop eating it and when the next order came; it did have much time on the table.

During this Chinese New Year, a special drink called the Blue Butterfly - RM 5.50 will be one of the highlight drink that you may one to try. These drinks have a magical feel to it; as when the lime juice which is served separately is poured into the drinks, it magically transforms the colour from blue to purple.

and the Mango Smoothie - RM 5.50 which has a strong Mango taste.

These offers are available for a limited time until the end of February 2018. so, hurry up to taste these new flavours from Boat Noodle. For more information on their promotion and outlet, you can visit Boat Noodle Facebook Page

Hugos By Modestos Damansara Perdana @ Hotel QLIQ

There are many choices of food at Empire Damansara, but to find one that you can impress your date or client, the choices can be limited. We found the Hugos By Modestos located at A-G-01, Empire Damansara, Qliq Damansara, Jalan PJU 8/8A, Damansara Perdana, 47820 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia meet this criterion.

Hugos By Modestos Empire Damansara is a bar cum restaurant that is located at the QLIQ Hotel. Patrons can choose to have a drink and snacks at the bar which has nightly special live performance.

While the dining area located at the end of the bar is a better option for a casual, quiet dining experience. The food that is served from Hugos By Modestos menu are the popular western dishes.

On entry to the restaurant dining area, you will be greeted with a modern setting that exudes a nice ambiance with special private dining area for you and your guest to dine in.

Our dinner review started off with a Western Starter which is a Creamy Sauteed Chicken Breast (RM29.00). The chicken that is used in the restaurant is of the Free Range Chicken species. Free Range Chicken will have a firmer texture and better taste too. The chicken is cooked with a creamy garlic and paprika sauce giving a hint of spicy taste to this creamy chicken dish. Served with purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes with a light sprinkle of balsamic vinegar.

The second starter/appetizer is the Bruschetta which is served with Diced Tomatoes, Garlic and Olive Oil on a Garden Farm Bread (RM17.00). A nice little crunchy start to your meal.

For Soup, we had the Zuppa Di Pesce Misto (RM18.00) which is a Mixed Seafood in Prawn Bisque. We like the strong brothy flavour of the bisque as it was nicely matched with the seafood which consists of prawns, squid, and clams. Will be perfect with a piece of toast or butter bun to go with the soup.

Next on, from the Pasta section, we were served with the Spaghetti Aglio E Olio (RM22.00). The pasta was cooked with toasted garlic, fresh chillies with a dash of extra virgin oil and Prawns. The dish would have been even better had the Chef uses a bigger size prawns for this dish.

For the Mains, we had the Scaloppini Di Pollo Al Funghi (RM40.00) which in essence is a Pan Fried Chicken Breast With Creamy Mushroom Sauce. The chicken breast has a firm meaty texture and was well paired with the brown mushroom sauce. Served with mashed potatoes and boiled cauliflower, carrots and broccoli as the sides.

The last course before dessert is a Pizza which is Tonno E Cipolle (RM22.00) - a tuna based thin crust pizza that is very crispy and crunchy, topped with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and onions. An extra topping of cheese would have taken this to a higher level.

For dessert, we had the Tiramisu Modestos (RM22.00) which has a layer of Mascarpone, sponge cake and topped with sprinkles of Espresso Coffee. Served on the sides are white fresh cream with a dollop of chocolate sauce.

Overall, Hugos By Modestos Damansara Perdana offers diners a great choice of western cuisine for you to choose from and is a nice place for you to dine in a very relaxed setting.

Maria's Steak Cafe Restaurant Bangsar - A Hidden Gems For Steak Lovers

Bangsar Food Maria Steak Cafe Ipoh

There are a number of steakhouses in Kuala Lumpur, but to find one that serves top quality steak at a fairly reasonable price is few and rare . Recently, +BestRestaurantToEat was invited to taste out the Australian Wagyu Steak at Maria's Steak Cafe Restaurant located at 58, Jalan Maarof, Bangsar Kuala Lumpur which is a walking distant from the Bangsar Village Shopping Centre. There are also 2 other outlets one which is in Ipoh and Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya.

Maria's Steak Cafe a western steakhouse has its roots from Ipoh which was started more than 15 years ago. The owners' has a strong conviction to serve only the best and freshest quality meat to its clients; this was perfected thru the extensive experience in managing chilled cuts which are kept in controlled conditions to preserve its natural freshness and succulence.

Our Dinner Course at Maria's Steak Cafe
The restaurant is perfect for all occasions, it is a favourite casual family oriented restaurant, but the restaurant’s intimate, relaxed, elegant interior design and atmosphere make it a great place for a date nights too.

To start off our evening of fine dining pleasure, we were served the NZ Spicy Mussels which is a sharing platter for me and my partner. The sauce is a vegetable siciliana tomato based with fine chilli flakes that blend a hint of sourish and slightly spicy taste. It went well with the firm texture of the air flown New Zealand Green mussels which have a firm meat texture and does not bode any fishy taste.

For the soup, I had the Oxtail Soup which was boiled for more than 7 hours with a vegetable broth; to extract the full flavours of the oxtails. While the meat texture of the oxtail was fork tender, the aroma of the warm hearty soup was very savoury and pleasant.

My partner had the Wild Mushroom soup which uses a combination of Shitake and Button mushroom which was thickened with a hint of white cream. What we like about this soup was the chef has added in little small chunks of cut mushroom that add a texture that gives some bite to the soup.

Next; Our main course which is the star of the night is the Australian Wagyu 7 which is Maria's signature and best selling steak. We were a little curious as to why there is a number like 5 and 7 as in the standard menu; it turns out that this is the marble grading of Wagyu. The higher the number the more marbling there is and naturally the cost as well.

At Maria's Steak Cafe; you get to savour this top quality steak cut which was cooked using a simple marinade of salt, black pepper and red wine to bring out; the best natural flavours of the beef by grilling it to (Medium Rare) which were lightly charred on the outside and deep pink on the inside, making each and every bite of tender, juicy, tasting steak.

To truly enjoy this AustralianWagyu 7 Rib-Eye steak cuts, it would be a good idea to chew the steak a little longer, so that it gets contact with more of your taste buds. According to the owner of the Maria Steak Cafe, this steak does not come with any sauce as serving it naked; is the best way to truly enjoy the real original taste of this succulent meat cut.

For my partner, her main course was the Canadian Seabass (also known as White Cod Fish). This is a welcome treat for non-meat eater; as the Cod Fish was Pan Fried and served with a specially Sake infused citrusy tangy sauce that was superbly paired with the soft firm, moist texture white fleshed fish. It is topped with Bonito Flakes which was still twirling and dancing when the dish was set on the table.

For desserts; we had the Moist Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice-Cream. The cake which was made from seriously rich chocolate; is served warm and was brought to the best with a pairing of the cold smooth vanilla ice cream that tickles your sweet-tooth.

For my partner, she had the Carrot Walnut Cake Topped with Cream Cheese. These freshly home-made cake; was a real delight and sugary treats to end our lovely meals at Maria's Steak Cafe Bangsar.

Deck on the walls of the restaurant are some of the wines collection that you can order with your favourite meal; there is a wine pairing suggestion for most of the mains if you have trouble pairing it. Maria's Steak Cafe Bangsar is really an ideal restaurant to wine and dine in the bustling Bangsar. As mention earlier, there is also two other outlet that you can savour these delicious dishes of which the address are listed below.

Damansara Perdana Food: Fork D World Bistro Cafe Restaurant - Porkilicious Meal To Die For

We have tasted many restaurant that specializes in Pork dishes, but at Fork D World located at
D2-G-3A, Ritze Perdana 1 Commercial Lot, Jalan PJU 8/2, Damansara Perdana Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, pork meat dishes takes a new twist and dimension to will tantalize your taste-buds.

The decor of the cafe restaurant is one of a simple and straight forward; no frills setup but what excites us is the way the dishes are cooked using the pork meat especially the Chinese style roast pork and pork bacon as you read this blog posts.

Pork is one of yours truly favourite as this last minute invitation was accepted purely to taste one of the very unique and special dish which is the Awesome Bacon Lou Sang (RM55.00+). We have done  numerous number of Lou Sang review this time around and the thought of having a pork inspired Lou Sang got us to accept this very last minute invitation with no regrets.

Not content to use the normal ingredient in setting up this Lou Sang dish; the core ingredients are Streaky Bacon, Crispy Fried Pig Skin, Strips of Back Bacon, with Guava, Fried Yam, peeled Mandarin oranges and Pomelo. The in-house blended plum sauce has been specially fine tuned with Fried Bacon Bits to add an extraordinary porky flavour to this Lou Sang. The end result is that we had finished the entire Lou Sang to the last bit; a testament of how delicious this was. This is the first time we had the opportunity to taste a Bacon Lou Sang.

After the explosive Lou Sang, we had an appetizers, which is aptly named as Bacon Bombs (8 pieces) (RM18.00). technically when you bite into this Bomb; the enclosed cheese will explode in your mouth. For fans of cheese and pork; this appetizers really is a must not miss dish for you. The Mozarella cheese is wrapped around the crusty pastry within the bacon which is then deep fried to a crisp and topped with sprinkles of brown sugar.

After that, we had the Carbonara (RM22.00). This is a classic farmhouse carbonara sauce with Bacon and topped with a raw egg yolk. Stirred up the egg yolk and it will gel to form a rich creamy texture and aroma to the pasta of your choice.

The next pasta dish is a very addictive and a very sinful dish for those cholesterol watcher. This is the Siew Yoke / Roast Pork Fried Pasta (RM22.00). Using Olive oil and a mixture with the pork fats from the frying of the Roast Pork which is then sauteed with garlic and chili padi, it infuses a very aromatic tinge of spicy porky flavours to this simple looking but mouth watering pasta dish.

For the mains; we had the Grilled Australian Lamb Loin (RM35.00). The Aussie Loin meat which is marinated with a secret recipe of more than 20 years are grilled to a nice juicy charred and a taste which reminiscent the sugary Char Siew flavour. Served with a side of roasted vegetable, mini potatoes  and topped with a piece of fried bacon.

At Fork D World; there also serves a number of in-house made 9 inch pizza. We had the opportunity to taste 2 of it; which the first one is the Sambal Shrimp Pizza (RM22.00). The dough are in-house made and have a fine texture which is not too thick and still retains a nice doughy crunch. This pizza is then topped with shrimp, bacon chips, cheese and a special sambal which is not overly spicy tomato based sauce.

The second pizza which we had; is the savoury Roast Pork Pizza (RM22.00); this is another first, never before had we tasted a Roast Pork Pizza; but the verdict is you really have to go for a second piece and if possible a third piece or better still just order one whole pizza just for yourself.

The last dish before dessert is a new kid on the block daily specials (not on menu) which is the Porky Bacon Lasagna. If Garfield has tasted this lasagna, I bet he will jump to the roof; as the lasagna was made with bacon chips in a special in-house made bolognese sauce and topped with a sinfully rich layer of cheese.

Desserts from Fork D World Cafe are all in-house made; Here the desserts are not too sweet and just nice for our taste. The first dessert is the Durian Egg Pudding (RM8.00+); the pudding has a fine soft texture and a strong aroma of the durian. Too bad, I can't get another helping as we have eaten all there is.

Next we had the Chocolate Brownie (RM12+) - 2 portion in picture. The chocolate brownie are usually on a non permanent basis. For today it was made with cream cheese and are alternate with chocolate mint, peanuts with M&M and chocolate orange to gives the customers a varied choice of the day.

After that is the Dessert Waffle (RM10.00+) - 2 portion in picture. The waffles are American style which has a crisp texture as compared to the Belgian type which normally has a firmer texture. This waffles is served with a scoop of ice-cream and drizzle with salted caramel.

The last dessert that we had is the Apple Crumble (RM10+) - 2 portion in picture. Served with a scoop of ice-cream.

As the saying goes what is nice is not healthy but what is healthy is not nice. You have to make that decision. For pork meat lovers, you can really feast here on those cheat day to enjoy this sinful but scrumptious dishes that are served here.

And for those that really like to taste the Awesome Bacon Lou Sang, you better hurry up as it is served from now till the 15th day of Chinese New Year. Please take note that the restaurant is closed from 7th Feb 2016 to 14th Feb 2016. So you better hurry up if you really want to taste this special Lou Sang.
