South Sea Seafood Celebrates 40 Years with The Empurau Feast
South Sea Seafood is celebrating four decades of culinary heritage with The Empurau Feast, a special dining experience dedicated to one of Malaysia’s most prized freshwater fish — the Empurau.
Held in conjunction with its 40th Anniversary, the celebration shines a spotlight on the legendary river fish from Sarawak, known for its rarity, firm yet delicate flesh and naturally rich flavour. More than a premium ingredient, Empurau represents Malaysia’s rich natural resources and diverse culinary heritage.
What happens when a paddy field becomes a giant canvas? At MAHA 2026, JATI has turned one of Malaysia’s most important agricultural crops into a remarkable piece of living art, earning a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the country’s Largest Paddy Art Formation.
Named Natural Waves of Malaysia, the artwork measures an impressive 119ft by 126ft, with the JATI logo alone measuring approximately 58.42ft by 19.07ft. What makes the achievement particularly special is that the artwork was created entirely from living paddy, without paint, dye or synthetic materials. Different stages of paddy growth were carefully used to create natural variations in colour and contrast, forming a large heart shape together with the JATI brand name across the field.
AB Mauri Malaysia Launches “Rise with Mauri” Alongside 20 Single-Mother Entrepreneurs
AB Mauri Malaysia launched its “Rise with Mauri” campaign on 27 August 2026, bringing together 20 single-mother entrepreneurs from the B40 community for a hands-on baking masterclass in collaboration with Ibupreneur.
Held at the Pusat Kreatif Kanak-kanak Tuanku Bainun in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, the initiative is built around AB Mauri Malaysia’s belief that providing bakers and food entrepreneurs with the right knowledge, tools and support can give them a stronger foundation to grow their businesses.
20 Women, One Kitchen and a Baking Masterclass
As part of the launch, the 20 women entrepreneurs took part in a practical baking masterclass led by AB Mauri Malaysia’s technical experts. The session gave participants hands-on experience with a range of baking techniques and products, including trending Shio Pan, artisan crusty sourdough, cake decorating and piping.
Beyond baking techniques, the masterclass also covered product development and process standardisation. These areas were included as important building blocks for entrepreneurs looking to develop their baking skills into sustainable businesses.
The masterclass allowed participants to learn, experiment, and create while gaining practical exposure to different aspects of bakery production.
A Malaysian Favourite That Started with a Simple Snack
IKEA Malaysia has officially entered the Malaysia Book of Records after selling an incredible 8.6 million curry puffs in a single year, proving that the beloved snack has become one of Malaysia’s favourite everyday bites.
The achievement was announced as part of IKEA Malaysia’s 30th anniversary celebration, highlighting how the brand’s famous curry puffs have evolved from a simple snack into a nostalgic part of Malaysian culture. For many Malaysians, an IKEA trip is incomplete without grabbing a few curry puffs after shopping with family or friends.
Malaysia’s food scene has just witnessed something truly extraordinary—and this time, it’s not just an ambitious idea, it’s an official record-setting achievement. The creation of a 23.8KG giant siu mai has now firmly secured its place in culinary history, redefining what’s possible in the world of dim sum.
This isn’t just about size—it’s about pushing boundaries. Turning a delicate, bite-sized dim sum into a massive, nearly 24-kilogram masterpiece is like transforming a simple sketch into a towering mural. It captures attention, sparks curiosity, and most importantly, celebrates Malaysia’s passion for food innovation.
For food lovers, this moment is electrifying. It shows that Malaysia isn’t just following global food trends—it’s creating them. And when something this bold happens, it doesn’t just stay local—it becomes a story the world wants to hear.
