Publika Food : MANDALA Cafe & Bar @ Solaris Dutamas Publika


MANDALA Cafe & Bar @ Solaris Dutamas Publika is one the latest nightspots for some get together. With a nice and subtle ambience serving an array of western delights; while offering a selection of wine at an affordable price would make it an ideal place to catch up with family and friends without the noisy atmosphere of most common bars.

There are many bars and drinking spots at Solaris Dutamas Publika but MANDALA stands out as it provides a comfortable place to have a nice meal while enjoying slow music while sipping your favourite wine or cocktails catching up with friends and business associates. 


Don't be surprised if you see celebrities frequenting MANDALA Cafe & Bar; the likes of Dato Jimmy Choo 


and Dato Lee Chong Wei.


If you require a private dining environment, there is one VIP room that you can book to entertain your VIP guest or to host private events.


Our night started with the sampling of a few cocktails drinks before our meals the first of which is the Blue Lagoon


followed by the Sex On The Beach


and end with Pink Mandala


Our dinner started with the order of 2 appetizers; the first of which is the Fried Chicken Wings (RM18.00); we love the crispy and crunchy skin that still crackles with a nice evenly coated honey and topped with sesame seed.


followed by the Tom Yum Popcorn Chicken (RM16.00). For me, I would have loved it for a  stronger Tom Yam taste for this. Fried to a nice crunch, both of these appetizers are a great pairing to our cocktail drinks.


The first main dish to arrive at our table is the Black Angel Pasta With Grilled Chicken (RM18.00) which comes with a nice fragrant aroma of herbs and garlic.  


The next dish is my favourite of the night which is the Lemon, Garlic and Butter Mussels (RM33.00) when ordering this dish make sure you scoop up the sauce with the toasted bread. it has a strong citrusy flavour and taste that lingers in your mouth. The Green mussels were very fresh and you can taste the slight saltiness from each bite of the mussels. 


The other crowd favourite is the Grilled Chicken With Buttermilk Sauce RM20.00, as the chicken meat has a strong infused flavour from the seasoning that was used to marinate the chicken. The buttermilk sauce has a tinge of spiciness and a balance buttery taste.  This dish is served with refreshing garden green which is topped with a sesame dressing.


One of the favourite dish served at MANDALA is the Golden Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti (RM28.00). At Mandala, this dish is served with the full-size soft shell crab. The Chef has added a slightly spicy taste to this dish. If you are not the spicy type, please order it with a tone down version of the spicy level.


For fans of Pizza, there are 4 types of Pizza that are served at the restaurant. For tonight our choice was for the Pepperoni Pizza (RM18.00). Pizzas that are served here are thin crust.


Complimenting our main dishes are the Red Wine which is Chateau Haut Riot Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 (France) while our White Wine for the night is Chateau Haut Riot Sauvignon Blanc 2016 (France).


We had 2 desserts to end our dinner; the first of which is the Chocolate Lava Cake with Ice Cream RM16.00.


While the second dessert is the Rich Chocolate Brownie RM16.00

An exquisite selection of menus with traditional delicacies and signature dishes are available for lunch and dinner, showcasing the best of Cantonese fine dining. To start off there is the Prosperity Yee Sang with an option to include salmon, tuna or abalone to adds to a ritzy twist to the traditional festive Lou Sang.

You can select from three menus that are specially curated for lunch which feature dishes such as the Deep-Fried Meat and Minced Prawn Roll, Steamed Oyster with Sea Moss and Steamed Siew Mai With Crab Meat from the Dim Sum selection

For the dinner menus you can start off with a Braised Soup with Shredded Superior Fish Maw, Bird’s Nest and Minced Chicken, Double-Boiled Abalone Soup with Chicken, Sea Cucumber and Dried Scallop, Steamed Bamboo Fish With Sliced Ham,

while for the meat dishes you can have  Braised Pork Knuckle with Dried Oysters, Sea Moss and Barbecued Crispy Suckling Pig and Li Yen Special Roasted Chicken which has a nice crackling skin while the meat was firm and succulent.

For the prawn's dishes, you can relish on the Deep-Fried Prawns with Salt and Pepper or the Stir Fried Prawns With Chilli Paste

Steamed Clay Pot Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat 

A traditional favourite on the menu for this festive CNY season at Li Yen is the Steamed Clay Pot Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat. Made with Chinese sausages specially flown in from Hong Kong, this dish requires up to 45 minutes to prepare for the flavours of the vegetables, Chinese herbs and meat to infuse into the rice leaving a distinct and rich flavour.

Double-Boiled Red Bean Cream with Glutinous Rice

End your sumptuous meal on a sweet note with a delectable selection of desserts such as the Fried ‘Nian Gao’ with Deep-Fried Sesame Balls, Double-Boiled Red Bean Cream with Glutinous Rice Balls and Double-Boiled Glutinous Rice Balls in Almond Cream.


Available from 15 February until 18 February 2018, the lunch set menus are priced from MYR 1,388 nett per table of 10 persons. The dinner set menus are priced from MYR 1,888 nett per table of 10 persons. Should guests wish to enjoy the Lunar New Year specialities before 15 February, they are available with advance notice.

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur offers 2 Special Chinese New Year Set menu at RM1188 Nett Per set for 10 diners which will be available from 8th Feb 2018 to 12th March 2018 from 6pm onwards. You can also start off your Sau Gong Dinner or Reunion Dinner at Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The dinner set will be served at Level 9 Coffee House of the Hotel. For those who prefer some extra privacy can opt to dine with business associates and family members at the various functions rooms which can be arranged upon request.

It is a tradition to start the dinner with a toss of Yee Sang. Here both the set dishes comes with the Salmon Yee Sang which is laden with the must-have condiments that are married to freshly slices of salmon.


On the set A, the following are the dishes that will be served starting with Hot and Sour Sze Chuan Seafood Soup;



followed by the Roasted Crispy Chicken With Cucumber Plum Sauce;


Next will be the Deep Fried Red Snapper with Sweet and Sour Sauce, and for the Prawns; the Stir Fried Prawns Cooked With Salted Egg Yolk is a must try.


While the vegetable dish for Set A is the Stir Fried Broccoli With Mushroom Dumpling and to end the Set A dining is the Steamed Lotus Rice With Chicken and Yam''.


As for dessert; you will be served the Chilled HoneyDew in Rock Melon paired with Baked Spiral Lotus Puff.


For the Set B; you will be served with the Braised Crabmeat and Seaweed Soup With Dried Scallop followed by Roasted Crispy Chicken With Cucumber Plum Sauce.


Next is the Steamed Garoupa 'Hong Kong' Style.


For this set; you will be served with the Stir Fried Tiger Prawns With Nestum; while the vegetable dish is the Stir Fried Nai Pak (Milk Cabbage) in Superior Stock, Garlic and Mushroom Dumplings. 
Ending the mains dish is Salted Fish Fried Rice with anchovies toppings while the Chilled HoneyDew with Sago in Sea Coconut will be served as dessert with the accompanying Baked Spiral Lotus Puff.
