Bangsar Food: Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant - Rise and Shine German Style Breakfast at Bangsar Shopping Centre Kuala Lumpur

There is a saying that "Eat Breakfast Like A King, Lunch Like a Prince and Dinner Like a Pauper". With this in mind +BestRestaurant ToEat went to taste out the latest breakfast menu at Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant located at Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Brotzeit is renowned for its German cuisine as we have reviewed earlier. Click Here for our earlier review; it is also popular with its hearty breakfast set. As an add-on, you can start your breakfast with a chilled glass of orange juice to detox your body.

With the new breakfast menu, our first brekkie is non-other than the Signature Breakfast Set (RM32.90). This set is on the heavy side and is great for those big eaters while the small eater can order this to be shared by 2 persons. This platter comes with two farm fresh eggs, slices of streaky bacon, 2 Nurnberger sausages on a creamy bed of mashed potatoes with slices of ham, belly bacon, Emmenthaler cheese, onions and tomatoes served with multi-grain bread.

Next on is the Hangover Breakfast set (RM28.00); it comprises with a tummy warming goulash soup, slices of fried bacon, smoked salmon with a fried farm fresh eggs and served with a Laugen bread roll.

This is then followed thru with a special chef creation of the Farmer's Omelette (RM22.00). The slices of potatoes together with bacon, sprinkles of herbs and eggs are fried omelette style. We like the combination flavours of the omelette and is paired with the fresh garden salad with pesto sauce and served with a sunny side up eggs and multi-seed bread. This is quite a filling meal for a person.

The next dish is my favourite as I just loves roast pork belly. The set is called the Crispy Pork Belly (RM26.00). Laden with a layer of fats, the pork belly are roasted to a deep crunchy crisp. Served on a bed of sauteed spinach with mushroom and tomatoes; it gives a different texture, taste and flavours of this set. It is served with a choice of either fried, poached or scrambled eggs and comes with a multi-seed bread.

For pancake fans; you can opt for the Savoury Pancake (RM 22.00) for a change. The thin pancake is wrapped with bacon, feta cheese, tomatoes & olives. Served with fresh garden salad and a choice of either fried, poached or scrambled eggs and comes with a multi-seed bread.

For the sweet tooth, you can try out the Soft Crepe Duo (RM18.00). The soft crepes are filled with Nutella and strawberry jam to give a sweet and slight sourish tastes. It is then topped with chopped nuts and fresh fruits to give a different texture and refreshing taste with a drizzle of chocolate and apricot sauce.

All the breakfast set comes with a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea. So, if you yearn for some top quality western breakfast, the Brotzeit hearty breakfast set will definitely kick start your day.

Bangsar Food: Rendez-Vous French Restaurant - A Traditional French Food Love Affair

French people are very particular with the quality of ingredients used but also the way the food are prepared and served. A serving dish usually consist of different taste, aroma and texture specifically to tantalize your taste-bud. With that +BestRestaurant ToEat was invited to review this traditional French cuisine at Rendez-Vous French Restaurant located at 100 Lorong Maarof, 59000, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

The concept of the restaurant is to make authentic French cuisine affordable and also to offer a laid-back ambience in a truly relax environment where patrons can enjoy great French food and drinks with family and friends.

To appreciate a full course French meal you first start with a cocktail and the one that we had is the Le Kir Classique (RM26.00). It is a cocktail of white wine & choice of Creme de Cassis, Raspberry and others.

Next we had the Amused Bouche - a single bit size pre-meal appetizer. It is a dish not found from the menu and are served gratis and according to the chef's selection for the day to all present at the table. Our Amused Bouche was the sauteed onion with mushroom.

For starters, the chef recommendation was the Escargot Snails With Parsley and Garlic Butter Sauce in Vol Au Ven (RM34.00). At most restaurant Escargot are commonly served as Baked Cheese Escargot but here we get to taste out this traditional style of cooking with a light crust pastry (Vol Au Ven) which absorb the garlic butter sauce to give a nice texture and taste to the Escargot.

For the Soup, we had the "Soupe De Poissons Facon Laurent" which is Fish Soup Served With Rouille Sauce from Sete (RM26.00). The Rouille is a sauce that consists of olive oil with breadcrumbs, garlic, saffron and chili peppers. It has that special strong taste and when mix with the rich fish soup was excellent that it tasted more like lobster bisque. Served with crouton and extra cheese on the side for those that loves their soup to be extra cheesy with the Rouille Sauce as an add on.

French people have a craving for Pate and the next chef recommendation is non other than the signature Pâté de Chevreuil" Deer Pâté With Hazelnut (RM30.00) - Pâté (French forcemeat) is a mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste and bake in a terrine. The Deer Pate has a firm texture; had a nice flavour and taste which goes well with the gherkin, caramelized onion and fresh cherry tomatoes with lettuce that makes a good companion to the Pâté.

After the Pâté, next comes the special salad, French people has an acquired taste quite similar to the Chinese as they are fond of cooking and appreciating innards dishes. For this salad, we had the "Salade Perigourdine" a.k.a Breast Smoked Duck (in-house made) with artichoke, gizzards, bacon, sundried tomatoes and topped with a thin slice of Foie Gras. The dressing is a mustard with red wine reduction.

For the main course, the chef recommendation is the Mussel in White Wine. There are 3 type of cooking style that you can choose from. This White Wine style comes with a pot enclosure and when it is opened, the aroma of the white wine and steam from the broth exudes out.

We like this style of cooking with garlic, onion and white wine as it brings out the natural flavours of the mussels.

The next dish is the "Filet Mignon De Porc" which is Pork Tenderloin With French Cepes Mushroom Sauce (RM46.00). The Pork Tenderloin is slow cooked in a vacuum pack and then lightly pan fried and topped with the Cepes Mushroom sauce. This way of cooking ensures that the pork tenderloin has a soft texture while it engulf the pork taste into the meat. The Cepes Mushroom sauce which is made in-house using porcini mushroom leaves a taste so wonderful you are still fantasising about it hours afterwards.

To truly enjoy this particular dish, it would be great to chew the pork tenderloin a little longer, so that it gets contact with more of your taste buds.

The next dish according to Chef Flo is a very authentic traditional French delicacy which is the "Boudin noir aux pommes" i.e. Soft Pork Blood Sausage served with apples and French Style mashed potatoes (RM44.00). The pork blood which are specially source are cooked with herbs and spices and stuffed into the sausage. It is then boiled, fried and ready to be eaten. This dish is a real challenge for many Malaysian; I would say it will be an acquired taste to many which will leave you either a love it or hate it after the meal.

For dessert the Chef recommended that we try out the popular "Crepe Suzzette" aka French Crepe flamed with Grand Mariner (RM26.00). When the dessert arrived at our table; the waiter will first flame the Grand Mariner before pouring it into the Crepe.

After the flame is doused off, upon the first bite of the crepe, we can taste the strong Grand Mariner that is embedded into the crepe which is mix with the orange sauce and vanilla ice-cream.

The last dessert that we had is the Marquise au chocolat which is Densed Mousse served with mint ice cream (RM20.00). We love the Chocolate Mousse as the densed version which is firm have a stronger chocolate taste and blended well with the ice-cream.

Not to be left out, Rendez-Vous French Restaurant is celebrating the Year of Fire Monkey with a few specially created dishes with a French flavour to welcome the prosperity.

For this year Rendez-Vous is also having a special Valentine dinner for you to romance with your loved one the French style. Book early for this Valentine Special today.

For me, at Rendez-Vous French Restaurant Bangsar; one can really enjoy the experience of the flavours of the dishes which are prepared using traditional methods and natural ingredients to retain its authenticity of its taste.

Raj's Banana Leaf Rice Restaurant @Bangsar Baru Kuala Lumpur - No MSG Banana Leaf Rice Feast

As I was in Bangsar with my makan kaki gang and it was quite sometime ago that we last eaten Banana Leaf Rice, so we decided to try out a friend recommendation on a NO MSG Banana Leaf Rice at Raj's Banana Leaf Rice Restaurant located at 38G, Jalan Telawi, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.

At Raj's Banana Leaf @Bangsar Baru, I saw a big notice that says NO MSG; so decided to try it out. At Raj Banana Leaf Restaurant; all its chef are from India and are specially trained to cook these authentic South Indian dishes.

As it is located at a corner shop, it offers a well lit and a clean environment to dine in, unlike some of the restaurant which are stuffy, dirty and feel claustrophobic.

As with any Banana Leaf Restaurant, there are the curries and the fried delicacies to choose from. These fried item are fried upon an order being made.

You can also personally select the kind of meat and seafood that you like from the chillers to be handed to the chief grilling chef.

For us, we choose a variety of seafood for our fried selection starting with the Fried Flower Crab (RM15.00). The crab is marinated in a special curry powder paste before being sent to the hot wok for frying.

Next is the Giant Tiger Prawns (RM24.00 per 100g). As with the crab, the tiger prawn are also subjected to the same curry powder marinade.

Followed by the Fried Chicken (RM6.50 per piece). We like the texture of the chicken as the meat was still moist after the frying. At this restaurant the skin of the chicken have been taken out; so for those that dislike having Fried chicken skin will rejoice this Fried chicken.

We have also chosen a couple of fish to taste out, the first of which was the Senangin - Threadfin (RM 7.50 per 100g).

followed by the Tenggiri (RM6.50 per piece) and the Fried Fish Egg (RM 5.00 per 100g).

another fish was the Ikan Bulus - Silver Whiting Fish (RM7.50 per 100g).

and the last fish was the Ikan Bawal - White Pomfret (RM7.50 per 100g).

The last seafood that we selected was the Fried Squid With Onion (RM9.50 per 100g). Nice bouncy texture.

Next, we moved on to taste the curries; the first of which is the Mutton Varuval (RM10.00).

followed by the Mysore Mutton (RM11.00). For those that cannot to take too spicy curries, then Raj's will be just nice for you as most of the curries are less spicy.

and the other 2 dishes are the Chicken Peratel (RM8.00).

and Chicken Masala (RM8.00).

Besides Banana Leaf, it also serves Roti Canai and Thosai all day; together with some snack food and kuih for tea time. We tasted a couple of these roti canai starting with the plain one (RM1.50).

followed by the Roti Banana (RM3.10). One of the thing I like about the Raj Banana Leaf Restaurant is that these Roti Canai and Thosai are served on Banana Leaf.

the Roti Tissue (RM3.00).

and then the Thosai which we had was the Thosai Ghee Paper (RM3.00).

and the last one is the Rava Thosai (RM2.50).

For those that might not want to travel all the way to Bangsar to try the No MSG Banana Leaf Rice; you can go to the other 2 outlet of Raj's Banana Leaf; one in Publika and the other one which was just opened in Jalan Gasing (a few doors away from Raju Banana Leaf).

Signature Pork Dishes You Must Try At Pink Belly Restaurant @Bangsar Baru Review

Recently, there have been a number of restaurant that specialize to serve Pork dishes in Klang Valley. A new place for lovers to this swine meat is the Pink Belly located at 1, Lorong Kurau, Taman Bukit Pantai, Bangsar Baru Kuala Lumpur. +BestRestaurant ToEat was invited to taste the signature dishes that is served from this restaurant.

Located in a quiet area in the bustling Bangsar area, Pink Belly @Bangsar serves quality delicious pork dishes. The setup is one of a very simple and minimal setting with high table and stools that adorned a portion of the restaurant while casual sit down are on the other side of the restaurant.

The Pink Belly offers diners with a nice ambiance for a family dinner or a get together with friends  or business associates served by friendly waiters.

Our review started with a Salad which is Pink Belly Salad (RM24.00); Generous amount of Romaine green lettuce fill the plates with red cabbages, tomatoes cubes with a fruity combination of watermelon cubes and lychee to add a refreshing flavour and sweet taste to this salad. It is then topped with honey ham cube and smoked bacon chips.

The next dish is a pasta i.e. Porky Penne Pasta (RM24.00); This pasta is cooked with smoked bacon, honey ham cubes and mushrooms in a spicy aglio olio sauce. Instead of the spicy aglio olio sauce, patrons can also opt for carbonara or pesto sauce to suit to their taste.

For the main dish of the night we first had the signature Roasted Pork Belly (RM34.00). The pork belly is roasted to a perfect crackling texture (this is the one of the most important criteria of roast pork) and served with roasted root vegetables and bedded on top of braised red cabbage. Patrons are offered a choice of Honey BBQ, Jalapeno or Original sauce to goes with the Pork Belly. Will be great when eaten with a cold beer to down this pork belly.

Next on, is another one of the signature dishes at Pink Belly which is the BBQ Sticky Pork Ribs (RM75.00). The whole slab of Pork Ribs are slow cooked and drenched with Chef special BBQ sauce; are then grilled to a charred texture and served with wedges and coleslaw. We like the moist juicy meat on the ribs as it did not fall off too easily from the ribs which gives us a little bite texture.

After that, it was the Grilled Pork Skewers (RM26.00); The honey glazed pork balls skewers are pan grilled with a spicy sauce are served with roasted root vegetables and the aromatic buttered basmati rice. We were a little surprised as; from the look of the meat ball when it was served to us it look quite normal, but taking on the first bite of the meatball, it was still juicy and have a little bouncy feel. With the right marinade of the meatball, it was a delight to eat this meatball.

and the next dish that we had was the Porky Risotto (RM25.00). The risotto are stir-fried with pork belly slices with wild mushrooms and garden fresh vegetables. You can have a choice of either caramelized or original version.

and for desserts we had the Special Vanilla Ice Cream (RM15.00) which is a double scoop vanilla ice cream drizzled with maple syrup and topped with smoked bacon slices and walnut bits.

For those that loves pork, Pink Belly@ Bangsar does offers you a choice of interesting porkilicious dish.
