There are many Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur that serves German Food, but at Brotzeit, you will be able to taste some of these specially crafted authentic and typical German and European cuisines cooked by German chef. +BestRestaurant ToEat was invited to a special preview of the special Piggylicious breakfast and new lunch menu at Brotzeit German Bier Bar Restaurant & Restaurant located at G130, Bangsar Shopping Centre, 285 Jalan Maarof, 43200 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Brotzeit which is a combination of 2 word Brot which stands for "Bread" and Zeit which stand for "Time" refer to small meal or snack accompanied by beer.

The decor offers a nice ambiance for diners while the unique wall design depicts the beer making process of German Breweries to give you a more German hospitality.

There is also an Alfresco dining area located at the side of the restaurant for those that loves the sunny morning breeze or the evening serene setting.

Our review started with the special Brotzeit Signature Breakfast( RM32.50). This large breakfast plate features a special combinations of a hot and cold breakfast. For the hot breakfast; it has two farm fresh eggs cooked sunny side up with 2 pieces of streaky bacon, 2 pieces of Nurnberger sausages on a creamy mashed potatoes.

While the cold Breakfast comes with 2 sliders of Honey baked ham, belly bacon, Emmental cheese, onion and tomato on a multigrain bread. This breakfast set comes complete with a free cup of coffee or tea.

This is then followed by the special; one of its kind Hang Over Breakfast; this special breakfast was created especially for those that wants to nurse their previous night drinking session. This breakfast set comprised of a Goulash soup with Laugen Bread roll, accompanied with smoked salmon slice, and a sunny side farm fresh eggs and strips of gypsy belly bacon.

The Hangover Breakfast also comes with a free coffee or tea priced at RM30.50 and top up RM5.50, you get a short glass of Radler ( lager and lemonade). This breakfast set is only available on Sundays and Public Holidays till 3pm.

After the breakfast dishes we move on to the German small bites which is a great appetizer for wine or beer; the first of the small bites dish that we had; was a special Mini Brotzeit Platters (RM35.00) which can be shared by 2 person;

It is a combo platter of Gouda & Emmental Cheeses, cold cut cuts of belly bacon, and honey baked ham plus 3 special spreads which is, bacon, cream cheese and pork liver pate, topped with pickles and olives.

The second small bites selection is the Spicy Chicken sausage - The Spicy chicken sausages is sauteed with onions, capsicum and chillies in a spicy chilli/tomato sauce (RM17). It has a distinctive spicy flavour that goes well with a sip of beer.

and the last small bites is the Pigs in Blanket (RM20.00)

The Pork Cheese sausages are wrapped in gypsy belly bacon and sear to perfection and served with spicy wedges. The sausage has a firm and bouncy texture.

The above small bites dishes are best paired with the Paulaner Draft Bier Sampler (RM33.90) which consist of the Original Munchner URTYP, Original Munchner DUNKEL, HEFE-WEISSBIER and DUNKEL HEFE-WEISSBIER.

The beer reference guide of the beer is shown to the customer on each order of this beer sampler.

After the small bites, we moved on to try out the lunch special menu; which are served daily from 11am to 3pm daily except on Sundays and Public Holidays offering 9 varieties set. Each of the set comes with a free ice lemon tea. Our first set was the Pork Chili Con Carne with German Egg Noodles (RM 16.00) - the sauce is made from corn, kidney beans and minced pork meat.

Gypsy Belly Bacon Carbonara - (RM 17.50). It is a Carbonara of Bacon and German handmade short egg pasta topped with crispy onions. Diners can opt for a personal portions of soup (RM5) or green mini salad (RM7) for each lunch plate ordered. If either one is ordered, the diner will enjoy a complimentary dessert of the day.

After finishing of lunch selection, we had the Crispy Chicken Salad (Regular : 44.50 Small : RM30.50).

The Crispy chicken strips are served on a bed of salad greens with potato salad, drizzled with house dressing and garnished with sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumber and semi dried tomatoes. A balanced meal all on its own. For a light eater, this can be a complete meal altogether.

And finally it was time for the Brotzeit Signature Pork Knuckle (RM99). A nice special craving of the skin that resembles a cauliflower florets that was still crackling when it was served to us.

The Pork Knuckles are oven roasted the German way ensuring a crispy crackling skin and served with potato salad, pickles, sauerkraut with a special beer infused knuckle gravy.

Our food review ends, with a sweet ending with the Knuspriger Schokoladenspeck - which is a sweet and savoury duo of crispy chocolate bacon on a white chocolate mousse with lemon pepper marinated strawberries and apricot sauce.

Overall, we have enjoyed this very special dining experience to taste some really good pork dishes the German way at Brotzeit Bier Bar & Restaurant @Bangsar Shopping Centre.
