Petaling Jaya Food | Brulee Brasserie Cafe - Creme Brulee - Coffee - Beer - Pizza

There are not many cafe and restaurant that serves delicious yet affordable Creme Brulee.
+BestRestaurant ToEat recently got the opportunity to try out the Creme Brulee and its other dishes at Brulee Brasserie Cafe located at B1-2 Casa Tropicana, Jalan Persiaran Tropicana, Tropicana Golf and Country Resort, 47410 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Brulee Brasserie Cafe is a neighborhood cafe with its' cozy, carefree and simplistic decor which are adorned with charming little set pieces around the cafe.

Patrons placed their orders from the counter;

while the menu is very straight forward which has 2 boards: one which is the drinks menu and the others the pizza menu; which has 12 different flavours served with a specially sourced Lebanese bread as the base.

Our review started with a lighter flavour of the pizza which is the Super Mario Pizza (RM14.00). The thin crust is topped with olives and 3 types of mushrooms; which were the Shiitake Mushroom, Porto Bello Mushroom and the Eryngnii (King) Mushroom. When the pizza arrives at our tables, we could smelt the strong aroma of these mushroom. Topped with the mozzarella cheese, the pizza was superb with the oven baked crisp thin crust.

Our next pizza is the Pesto Caviar Pizza (RM15.00). Frankly speaking, we have not eaten a caviar pizza at all before this review; but this turn out to be quite a taste by itself. Combined with the pesto sauce and the cheese; it was a real delight to taste the orange and black caviar on a pizza.

Our third pizza is special marriage of Petai Sambal flavour and the Nasi Lemak flavour (RM14.00). We were told that the Nasi Lemak was the cafe top seller; but as an ardent fan of nasi lemak, we felt that an additional spoonful of spicy sambal sauce with fried crispy anchovies would have made this pizza a better match to our demanding taste-bud for a Nasi Lemak flavoured dish.

The last and final pizza for the night is the Moroccan Beef (RM11.00). For me as a meat eater; this Pizza has to be the best for me. We really like the taste of the beef which takes a long process to prepare and serve. According to the Chef, it takes almost 2 days to prepare and cooked it with an array of spices and the special Moroccan sauce. It has a slightly spicy taste and the meat was not gamy. Perfectly matched with the crust too.

After our pizza, it is time for the Star of the Cafe; which is the Creme Brulee; If you are coming here for the first time; you might not know that the cafe serves Creme Brulee as it is not written on the menu or anywhere in the cafe. For die-hard Creme Brulee fans to this cafe; they will know that it is the only desserts serves here. But; what is so special about the Creme Brulee at Brulee Brasserie Cafe is that there are 12 rotating flavours i,e. the original Vanilla, Mango, Lemon, Green Tea, Thai Red Tea, Lavendar, Coffee, Cinnamon, Passion Fruit, Chocolate, Salted Caramel and Cardamon. Each and everyday the Creme Brulee are made fresh and 3 flavours will be served. Do check out the flavours of the day when you order yours.

We find the texture to be very soft and the sweetness level was just the right portion. For me; we like the caramel to be of the thin type which you can tell the staff when you place the order with them. Secondly we can taste the milky creamy based of the Brulee in every spoonful; which was a real delight and at RM7.00 per cup; you can really indulge in this dessert at this cafe.

At Brulee Brasserie Cafe; it does offer specialty latte and imported crafted beers specially for those beer connoisseur to enjoy a drink or two with their friends after work or on weekends. Do share your comments after your visit to the cafe.

Why name a restaurant Twenty One Gram, we ponder as we asked the manager about it. Turns out that this grammage is the weight to brew each cup of coffee. A nice thought to it.

As with most cafe, Twenty One Grams Cafe Restaurant does offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere where you can chill with your buddies while sipping the specially blended coffee while enjoying a fusion dish of western food.

Our review started with the Big Breakfast which consist of Scrambled Eggs, Chicken Sausage, Turkey Ham, Roasted Potatoes, Baked Beans, Rocket with slices of Buttered Toast (RM23.95).

Next On, we had some small snack dish which is the Buffalo Wings (RM23.95) with homemade BBQ Sauce.

Followed by the main of the Fire Grill Chicken (RM27.95). The quarter chicken are grilled with a special spicy marinade that tasted a little like the tandoori chicken and served with garlic flvoured baked mashed potatoes.

For pasta we tried the Squid Ink Spaghetti (RM29.95). The spaghetti is cooked with the squid ink while the scallop and prawns are cooked in a special in-house made tomato based sauce with a slight hint of spicy taste.

and for dessert, we had the Belgian Waffles with Dark Chocolate and Banana (RM17.95).

The last dish is the Churros with Espresso Chocolate (RM17.95). We love the Churros as it has that nice crunch feel while the inside is still soft when bitten into it together with the dash of sugar coating. Dip in the special chocolate espresso dip, it was just great taste to end our review.

Brunch & Munch Restaurant @Desa Pandan, G-Village Kuala Lumpur - An Affair with Eggs and Pork Review

Many people that I knows just loves to eat eggs cooked in any form and style. Now to satisfy your craving for everything eggs, you can head over to Brunch & Munch located at Lot G-05, G Village, Jalan 1/76, off Jalan Desa Pandan, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

At Brunch & Munch, most if not all the menus items have one or two of their main ingredient which is Eggs and/or Pork. So, if you are fan of one of these two ingredients, you will be spoilt for choice at this restaurant whether be it for a full meal or just to munch.

The decor at the restaurant is one that exudes a warm feeling with a centrepiece display of a large crack giant egg. It exudes the theme of casual dining with soothing pipe in music of the sixties and seventies to calm your stress away during your meal.

Our food review started with an order of salad, which is the EggCellent Salad (RM18.00). Consisting of egg white, with quail eggs, carrots, onion rings, radicchio, rocket and bacon chips and topped with Honey-Citrus with Lemon dressing; it is a nice start for the review.

Next on is the Pork Corn Belly (RM18.00). The Roasted Pork Belly are lightly braised with dark soy sauce together with dried chillies exuding out a sweet and slight spicy taste to this pork belly. I prefer the white rice that came along with this dish as it was a nice match eaten with it; although customers can choose to have it with hash brown too.

This is then followed by a pasta dish which is Brunch & Munch Carbonara (RM26.00). This pasta is cooked in a carbonara style tagliatelle with pork belly, bacon, aged cheese and mushroom. After that it comes with a topped sous-vide eggs which will be mixed with the pasta giving you an extra creamy and cheesy texture.

The next pork dish is the Not So Boar Ribs (RM30.00). This ribs is double cooked, the first is using a slow cooked process with an in house special marinade to cook the ribs. Before serving; it is then sent to the griller to give it a smoky flavour. This dish is served with side dishes of sauteed cabbage with bacon and hash brown.

At Brunch & Munch, they also served burgers too; the one that we tasted is the Cheese Boar Ger (RM35.00). Although the price is a little costly but the thick and succulent housemade pork patty made up for the price. We love the texture and taste of this patty as the patties are made from BBQ pork with lap cheong (chinese sausage). The burger is served with bacon, sunny side up, aged cheddar, pineapple relish, tomato, gherkin, lettuce and coleslaw.

The last dish that we tasted is the Scottish Eggs (RM18.00). A soft boiled eggs is wrapped in with the special minced spiced pork (much like the Yong Tau Foo) and sent to the deep fryer. It has a crisp on the outside layer and drizzled with a sweet hot sauce and served with pickle cucumber.

For those that loves to hang out; you can savour some of these eggs and pork dishes while having a drink or two and munching some of these dishes after work to avoid the massive traffic crawl.

Chequers Restaurant @ TTDI KL- An American Love Affair With Waffles

Waffles is a special snack food for many American. You will be able to find a lot of restaurants in America that serves waffles almost everywhere; but not in the case of Malaysia. +BestRestaurant ToEat was invited to taste these American waffles at Chequers Restaurant which is located at 153, Jalan Aminuddin Baki, Taman Tun Dr Ismail TTDI Kuala Lumpur to savour some of these specially created dishes based on waffles.

Chequers Restaurant @TTDI, is decorated to resemble the minimalist American dining concept. Its' owner main aim is to inspire the taste of not only the sweet waffles, which we get to taste a lot as a desserts offering but to serve a savoury type waffles; as it will be a totally different ball game.

The waffles that are served at Chequers Restaurant TTDI are less dense unlike the Belgian waffles and have a crisp skin. The secrets lies in a process of whipping the batter to let in more air and adding the right meringue portion.

With an expectation to taste on what savoury waffles has to offers, we started our review with 2 Waffles based breakfast delights; which the first is called the Down Town Benny (RM19.00); it is a savoury waffle, with a pan fried beef bacon and comes with 2 poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and guacamole (avocado dip) and topped with baby fresh watercress. We love the marriage of the different taste and texture made out of each of these ingredients.

Our second breakfast dish is the Double Deck Croque Monsieur (RM18.00) which is another savoury waffle with turkey ham in between the waffles and thin tomato slices. The entire waffles is then wrapped in an egg much like a french toast and served with cheese sauce and topped with a sunny side up. As waffles are best served warm, you have to be quick into eating this to savour the best taste possible.

After the breakfast dishes, we moved to taste the main waffles inspired dishes which 2 of them are based on the savoury waffle; we begin with the Shroom Fiesta (RM20.00). This is a dish which is vegetarian; and suit those non-meat eaters or health enthusiast. It is a spinach flavoured waffle served with grilled portobello mushrooms and glazed cherry tomatoes at the sides. The dressing is balsamic and served with rocket salad and shaved parmesan cheese.

This is the followed by the Moo Moo (RM28.00) which is one of the signature dish at Chequers Restaurant TTDI. Using an in-house made seasoned striploin beef patties which are pan seared to the right charred condition; The Moo Moo is served with a special berry sauce and  topped with beef bacon, cheddar cheese, raisin slaw, pickled relish and waffle fries.

To cater to other non waffles fans, Chequers also offered a number of non-waffles dish; one that we tried was the Crusted Lamb Rack (RM42.00). Each of the lamb ribs are pan seared and served with mashed herbs potatoes, roasted baby carrots and honey grain mustard sauce. I love the texture of the meat which was still juicy and the aroma of the pan seared ribs coupled with the sauce was a wonder.

To finish off our review, we had 2 waffles based desserts; the first of which is the Melting Moments (RM17.00). It is a chocolate chip waffle i.e you can taste some of these little chocolate chips while taking bites of the waffles. Served with a hand battered banana fritters with almond nips and a scoop of vanilla ice cream which is drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauce, it was very well paired with the chocolate chip waffle.

The last desserts to end the review is the Tropic Delight (RM17.00). We love this coconut based dessert as not only the ingredients are coconut based, even the waffles have bits of coconut strips in it. For lovers of coconut this is just for you. The dessert comes topped with fresh coconut meat, roasted almonds, coconut ice-cream and paired with fragrant pandan sauce.

If you just like everything waffles, Chequers @ TTDI will definitely be the place for you to satisfy your cravings.

Marc's Grill @ Puchong IOI Boulevard - Delicious Grill and Malaysian Favourites Dish Review

Best Restaurant To Eat was invited to review a new cafe with a friendly atmosphere, neighbourhood restaurant i.e Marc's Grill located at Lot G 32 IOI Boulevard Jalan Kenari 7 Bandar Puchong Jaya 47100 Puchong Selangor.

Paying special attention to customer needs and making customer feel at ease is the mission of the cafe. The ambiance setting creates a family feel that welcomes you back to home. Armed with special homemade recipe together with the use of the freshest and natural ingredients that tantalizes your taste buds.

We started off with the Bistro Walnut Bacon Salad (RM 18.00). This is a savoury salad which is filled with garden fresh salad, cut apples, mangoes, cherry tomatoes and coupled with walnut to give it the crunchy feel and texture; while the grilled bacon adds a savoury taste to this starter salad.

This is then followed by the Mushroom Soup  (RM 7.80). The mushroom used in the soup is the shiitake mushroom which was finely blended and cooked with cream to give it a smooth texture.

For the grill meat dishes, we started with Honey Mustard Chicken (RM 16.80). The chicken thigh is grill in a special fryer and served with grilled potatoes or mashed potatoes, corn and greens of the day and topped with a choice of black pepper or mushroom sauce.

The next dish is the Ribeye Beef Steak (RM 32.00). The rib eye steak was lightly marinated with salt and pepper; pan fried to the customer preference and served with potato wedges, grilled tomatoes, corn on cob and broccoli. What I like about the steak dishes served at Marc's Grill is that, the sauce are served separately; thereby giving you a choice to how much sauce you like on your steak.

Next on is the Tasty Beefy Beef (RM 17.80); it is a burger with a homemade beef patties and top with Shimeji mushroom on a Black Charcoal Bun. For meat lovers, the thick beef patties is a real treat.

The final grill dish is the Grilled Lamb (RM 22.80). For this dish, the sauce is similar to the Honey Mustard Chicken that we had earlier, but only the chicken is being replaced with lamb accordingly.

Every cafe and restaurant like to serve the Big Breakfast and Marc's Grill is no exception; The Big Breakfast (RM 19.50) set serves here comprised of a generous amount of scrambled eggs and a very refreshing salad i.e. the one that we had earlier; fried sausages and bacon.

At Marc's Grill, for lunch time , they served a few set lunches and we had the opportunity to taste 2 of the bestseller; the first of which is the Ayam Goreng Berempah Set (RM 14.90). The chicken thigh is marinated overnight and fried to a fragrant aroma. The enclosed fried rempah was very crisp and goes extremely well with the plain fried rice.

The other lunch set is the Mutton Curry Set (RM 16.80). The ingredient used to cooked the curry was very flavourful but it was a little too spicy for us. If you want to eat this ala-carte, it will be best to paired with a cold beer.

For dessert, we had the Savoury Waffles With Bacon & Walnut (RM 15.90); A very special treat as the waffles was very crisp, served with fried bacon; ladle with a tasty Hollandaise sauce and topped with 2 sunny side up with Walnut topping.

Bring your family or friends to try out this family oriented restaurant from Marc's Grill when you are at Puchong.
