烧肉 Chinese Roast Pork Recipe: After experimenting with the different recipe over the years, here is a simple roast pork recipe using Air Fryer that does not need so much fuss to prepare and require a much shorter time while providing with the same crackling and crispy skin that everyone loves about Chinese Roast Pork.

The first recipe that I used needed 24 hours or left overnight at the refrigerator while this newfound recipe requires a marination process of at just 2 to 3 hours and an oven roasting time of 1 hour, which means you can get to enjoy this delicious meal within the same day.

Chinese Roast Pork - Easy to Make Recipe

This recipe also does not need the Aluminium foil cover and does not need the messy salt crust that many recipes do. To top it up, the roasting time is just about an hour. All in, this recipe is quick, simple and easy to get your crackling and crispy Chinese Roast Pork in less than 4 hours.

1. Pork Shoulder/Pork Belly - 1.4 Kg (you can buy a smaller cut and reduce the portion of the condiment accordingly).
2. Fine Salt - 2 tablespoons. 1 tablespoon for the marinade and 1 tablespoon to be mix with vinegar.
3. Chinese Five Spice Powder - 1/2 teaspoon.
4. Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon.
5. Chinese Wine - 7.5 ml
6. Vinegar - 4 ml

Step By Step Chinese Roast Pork Recipe

Step 1. Clean Pork Belly.
Step 2. Depending on the size of the belly, make a few cut on the meat to let the marinade to penetrate in.

Step 3. Hot bath the pork belly, skin down and cook for 10 minutes.

Step 4. Clean the pork belly and pat dry with a kitchen towel.

Step 5. Using a fork, poke it on every part of the pork belly skin (please ensure the whole surface have been poke.

Step 6. Turn over the pork belly and spread the Chinese wine on the meat portion especially the cut-out area.

Step 7. Mix the salt 1 tablespoon, Chinese 5 Spice Powder and Pepper in a bowl and spread into the meat area. (If you like a little bit more salty taste to the meat, you can add more salt. You can also fine-tune the amount of Chinese five-spice powder and pepper accordingly to your taste).

Step 8. Turn the pork belly over, now add 1 tablespoon of salt into the vinegar and spread evenly on the top of the pork belly skin.

Step 9. Keep the pork belly in the refrigerator - a minimum of 2 hours.

Step 10. Scrap off the excess salt from the skin.

Step 11. Your first roasting is for 30 minutes at medium to high heat - 180 - 200 Celsius.

After 1st Roasting - 30 Minutes

Step 12. Your second roasting is for another 30 minutes at a high heat  220 - 240 Celsius. Depending on the oven that you use, you can put in the additional roasting time if the whole skin has not fully cracked.

Step 13. Let the Roast Pork rest for a while and cut it out accordingly. Enjoy your freshly roasted Chinese Roast Pork with the best crack and crispy skin.
