D'Lee Deli Casa Tropicana - A little cafe in Tropicana for dessert review by Best Restaurant.

As mention in my earlier post that Cafe are sprouting out in Klang Valley and Best Restaurant To Eat was invited to this preview of D'Lee Deli Cafe located at B08, Ground Floor, Casa Tropicana, Persiaran Tropicana, Petaling Jaya.

The setting at DLee Deli @ Casa Tropicana is one of a casual setting, which offers patron a nice place to hang out especially if you have a love affair with sweet stuff or after meal desserts.

DLee Deli @ Casa Tropicana main offering are targeted to younger crowds which loves to have smaller meals. Their food offering are mainly sandwiches and waffles while drinks like coffees and some specialty Cider based drinks are also available; more of this later.

Our first sandwich dish is the Soft Shell Sandwich with Wasabi Aioli; all the the sandwiches at DLee Deli are tri-tip panini bread served with salad and oven baked potatoes. The combination is one that gives you the slight pungent wasabi mayo taste that blended with the fried soft shell.

follow the Chicken Pesto Sandwich.

and the last sandwich is the Cream Button Mushroom and Ham Sandwich; this was the night favorite sandwich as the mushroom which was thinly sliced and cooked in the sauce was just the perfect offering with the panini bread.

Next, we moved on to the Waffles; the first of which is the Blueberry Waffles; it was served with Vanilla ice cream and with Milk chocolate sauce. If you love blue berries you got to try this. The chocolate flavoured waffles was just nice eaten with the blueberries and topped with the in-house soft serve Vanilla ice cream.

This is then followed by the Strawberry Waffles with Vanilla IceCream; if blue berries is not your cup of tea, you can opt for the Strawberries instead. At D'Lee Deli, you can choose your favorite sauce to go with your waffles. In this case, this one is topped with Salted Caramel, which gives the overall waffles a different taste of sweet (from the icecream), sour(strawberries) and salty(the salted caramel sauce), all in one.

and end with the Banana Waffles with Green tea ice cream. The bananas are first caramelized and served with the Waffles, I find this just ok; compared with the blue berries and strawberries waffles that we had earlier.

We then move on to try a few of the special desserts which the first is the Apple Crumble Pie with soft Serve ice cream. I love this, the sweetness level was just right and the crunch of the pie was a perfect balance of sweetness and savory.

followed by a Blondies with soft serve ice-cream; which is similar to a brownies but made from white chocolates. A few of us liked this very much although it was a little sweeter as it was layered with butter scotch sauce.

As mention earlier; DLee Deli @Casa Tropicana offers a range of Premium Cider based Alcoholic drink which is the Kopparberg Cider which has Pear, Strawberry and Lime, Elderflower & Lime, Mixed Fruits and Naked Apple in its flavour range.

To end the night, we had the Affogato which is not too bad; as the ice cream was very smooth and although the espresso was not that strong, it was ok as the cost for this was only RM10.00 for a shot.

DLee Deli @ Casa Tropicana is experimenting to launch a new Waffles Big Breakfast set; pictured above. If you game for it, you can ask whether they have it; on their menu the next time you pay them a visit.

So, besides having a meal with your buddies or a cup of latte, you can also enjoy the company of these super heroes that are placed all over the restaurant.

Our food review started with the Okonomiyaki - a fusion Japanese pancake which has Squid, prawns and scallop laden with thin Fried Japanese pancake (much like nachos) and top with a special sauce with mayonnaise. Nice snack to start off our review.

followed by the chicken salad - the salad comes with a generous amount of pan fried chicken fillet and half piece of poached egg.

Next dish is the specially concocted Black Omurice; of which the Japanese rice was fried with squid ink noticeably from the black rice as shown in picture above. Taste wise it was delicious and eaten with the special omelette with the special sauce was anything but tasty.

To eat the Omurice, one has to slice the top layer of the omelette and upon slicing, it will reveal a rich, fluffy scrambled eggs that will cover the rice.

To accompany the Omurice: there are a number of add on dishes; the one that we had was the karrage chicken. The chicken breast was deep fried with a crusty skin texture.

Another interesting twist at Slurp Cafe is the Maggi Murtabak Chicken Patty; it is a very interesting creation of this dish which has a thick chicken patty; topped with a sunny side up and accompanied with potato wedges and salad as sides. To enjoy this Murtabak is really an acquired taste.

This is then followed by another innovative dish which is the Sambal Pasta - Substituting the rice with pasta and ingredients usually found from the local favourite Nasi Lemak; it was a bold yet another surprisingly tasty dish.

The stir fried pasta with sambal was accompanied with fried anchovies, peanut, hardboiled egg, sambal cockles, cucumber, pan fried sambal chicken, prawn and papadam making it a familiar taste for many to relish.

to end the day; we had 2 lip smacking and eye pleasing dessert which is the Mango Blast which has Mango Sorbet, Vanilla Ice Cream, Yoghurt Ice Cream, Fresh Indian Mango and Blue berries. The Indian Mango was superb and very sweet.

while the Strawberry Fountain has Strawberry Sorbet,Vanilla Ice Cream, Yoghurt Ice Cream, Fresh Japanese Strawberries and Blue berries concoction was indeed a very special sweet sourish end to our review.

Klang : Angcle Peoh @ Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang Penang Street Food Comes To Klang Review By Best Restaurant

If you are in Klang and suddenly yearn for some Penang Street food, you will be able to satisfy this craving as Penang Street food has hit Klang in a big way..

Best Restaurant To Eat got the pleasure to be invited for a Penang Street Food at Angcle Peoh located at 42, Lorong Batu Nilam 21B, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang, Selangor recently.

At Angcle Peoh, you can enjoy Penang fare without any sweat as the place is air-conditioned with a simple setup with which the walls are decorated with the little journey with which the 3 generations of the Ang family that have been serving the fame Air Itam Assam Laksa since 1950.

Our review started with one of Penang favorite Street Food which is Hokkein Mee a.k.a. Prawn Mee for folks of the Klang Valley. The soup based was very fragrant with the strong aroma of the prawn broth (made from the frying of the prawns shell and blended to fine pieces and boiling it for more than 2 hours).

The serving of the pork for this Hokkien mee was also slightly different from the norm (which uses the dry slice pork fillet); instead it is a slice pork which is marinated and lightly coated with corn starch (much like the pork noodles type).

Next, we were served the Penang Fried Kuey Teow With Duck Eggs; Angcle Peoh also serve the traditional Fried Kuey Teow with Chicken Eggs too if you are one of those that prefers it over the duck eggs.

I find the use of duck eggs to be more aromatic; and it brings out the taste of the Fried Kuey Teow. Although it was served with 2 pieces of reasonably size prawns; I find the lacks of cockles in the dish to be too little and too small. Yours truly just loves the Penang Fried Kuey Teow with lots of cockles as the cockles taste is the one that brings out the truly great flavour and taste of a real Penang Fried Kuey Teow.

This is then followed by the Signature Air Itam Assam Laksa, According to Ms Ang, her grandmother was the one; who was selling this same Assam Laksa in Air Itam in 1950 using a kandar (much like the nasi kandar man during that era) and a basket which are filled with the broth and condiments for the delicious laksa.

One of the thing that I notice in the Assam Laksa that are served at Angcle Peoh is that, there is a very generous portion of sardines fish meat in every bowl of laksa; which explains the strong fishy taste and coupled with the fragrantful aroma of the bunga kantan makes this broth unpretentious.

Our final dish is the Curry Mee; the curry here has a different texture in that, it is not the rich type of santan based curry which I prefer.

According to the chef, this version enables the customers to taste the spices in the curry; one has to appreciate the strong taste of the curry ingredient that was put into this curry broth.

For desserts, we were served the Air Batu Campur (ABC) which has the cream of corn, julienne grass jelly and red beans.

But the other dessert; which is the Cendol, was my favorite dessert at Angle Peoh as the cendol, has a firm texture and a very strong pandan taste (thru the use of fresh pandan leaves) and perfectly blended with the santan juice.

The cendol were inhouse made and was a definite a mildly sweet thirst soother after all the fiery spicy food dishes that we had earlier.

Judging from the large crowd during our visit; it seems that Klang folks have already discovered this Angcle Peoh at Bukit Tinggi Klang to satisfy their Penang Street food craving.
