Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Shares Ramadan Joy With PDRM Kuala Lumpur City Traffic Officers

In the spirit of sharing and giving during the graceful month of fasting, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur, a leading international five-star hotel in the heart of Bukit Bintang, recently paid tribute to traffic police officers who were on duty in the city centre.

In an efforts to thank them for keeping the streets of Kuala Lumpur safe and secure, the hotel’s General Manager, Peter Gibbons, executive committee members and associates distributed Buka Puasa meals packs to a convoy of over 60 officers. The event which commenced at 5:30 PM on Friday saw the brigade of officers donned in their uniforms driving by the hotel lobby in their bikes and patrol cars, before proceeding to their designated workstations for the day.

The meal boxes that were handed out comprised of a variety of food and fruits, including the must-have Bubur Lambuk, traditional Malay kuih, honey dates, lychee and rose apples, complimented with a bottle of orange juice. A hundred more of the meal packs were delivered to the Jabatan Siasatan Penguatkuasaan Trafik Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee for servicemen who were on duty there.

“This is a simple yet effective gesture to show that we care for and appreciate these officers who work on the field during the fasting month and who are on call 365 days a year come rain or shine. It also showcases our responsibility as a group and to foster synergy between the community and the traffic police. We are delighted to be running this initiative for the third year now and we look forward to much more in the years to come,” said Peter Gibbons, General Manager of Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur.

The event concluded with a breaking of fast dinner at The Mill Café, the hotel’s signature restaurant which featured its special Kembara Selera spread in a thematic buffet that embodies the concept of a food bazaar. Serving one of the best buka Puasa buffets in town, The Mill Café has been a choice venue for the city traffic officers for the past three years.

2016 Ramadan Buffet Shah Alam: View Cafe Best Western i-City Hotel Shah Alam Klang - Traditional IFTAR

Apart from the mains, you can start the Buka Puasa with the ulam-ulam kampung, varieties of kerabu, rojak buah, and tauhu sumbat followed by the array of main tasty dishes.

Among some of the main dishes that are served for the Ramadhan Buka Puasa Buffet is the Ayam Goreng Berempah

or my personal favourite; which is Fish Curry. Compared to the conventional; the fish which is Ikan Tenggiri are pre-fried before being cooked in the curry. This gives the fish a tastier option as compared with a more conventional cooking method which leaves the taste of the fish rather bland in the meat texture.

or you can try out the soft texture Daging Masak Merah that goes well with the Nasi Tomato or Nasi Puteh.

I somehow like this simple Egg Foo Yong dish. Served with a multiple layers of fried eggs which I really like. Can't help going for a second helping.

This dish which is Baby Kailan Oyster Sauce was the first to finish and I did not really get a chance to taste it. Either it is that good or people nowadays are keener in taking more vegetables.

Another not to be missed dish which seems to be a standard fare in most Ramadhan buffet is the Whole Roast Lamb which is served with Mint sauce or the Black Pepper sauce.

Others dishes that you can try out is the Wok Fried Squid With Dry Chilli.

 

or for those that fancy snack food can try out the Gado-Gado.

and not forgetting some classic Malay dish which includes the Lemang, Ketupat & Serunding

2016 Ramadan Buffet Kuala Lumpur - Enak KL Malay Fine Dining Restaurant Starhill Gallery Bukit Bintang - Santapan Kampung Tradisi

For the Ramadan Buffet aptly named as Santapan Kampung Tradisi, there is a daily rotating menu that is served to guest; we had a special preview of some of the highlight dishes for the Ramadan and we started with the speciality appetiser dishes which is the Mango Kerabu.

The second appetiser is the Pergedel Kentang

followed by the Tempe Goreng

and the final one was the Kerabu Ikan Pari.

For the main dish, we particularly like the Ikan Assam Pedas Bendi (this is the Johor version which has a strong flavour and thicker sauce texture as compared with the Melaka version). Best eaten with steaming hot white rice.

followed by the Ayam Percik - I am not usually a fan of Ayam Percik but here it has a very smooth taste from the marination and blended well with the Percik sauce; while the chicken was grilled to the right balance unlike those that I have eaten before at other restaurants.

Other mains are the Sambal Tumis Udang Petai

and the Gulai Daging Kentang

and we finish off with the crunchy Pucuk Paku Goreng Cendawan

For dessert, we had the Pisang Caramel

Puteri Mandi  - a glutinous dough flavoured with coconut cream and served with gula Melaka.

and the Sago Gula Melaka
