The Art Coffee which used to be in Sunway Giza have moved to

Kuala Lumpur to cater to the coffee lovers.

The Art Coffee Nexus Bangsar South

One of the major revamp is that The Art Coffee at Nexus Bangsar South serves a full dining menu and we have gotten to taste some of this newly crafted dishes by Chef Alex.

We started off our tasting session with an order of Smoked Salmon Salad (RM16.00). This rich multi-coloured salad is a feast for our eyes when it was served to us. In the salad, you get a combination of Lolo Rosso, Lolo Bienda, Smoked Salmon, Purple Cabbage, Capsicum, Tomato Salsa, Walnut, Dried Cherry and tossed with a sesame infused dressing.

We decided to order a sharing starter which is Munchies (RM14.00). This sharing platter consists of Deep Fried Chicken Popcorn which has a nice bite crunch. Also on the platter is the fried nachos which is served with Trio Cheese Sauce and Guacamole Dip.

For our soup, we had the Soup Of the Soul (RM13.00). The soup is a clear based chicken soup while the breast meat is chopped to a nice bite size and cooked with broccoli. This soup is served with toasted baguette.

For fans of pasta, The Art Coffee offers 3 cooking style which is the tomato based, cream based and the Aglio Olio style. Being a fan of seafood; for the tomato-based, we had the Seafood Marinara (RM23.00). The seafood that was used for this pasta is the Prawns, Squid, Green Mussels, Lala and for the vegetables, the chef uses black olives, tomatoes coulis and baby spinach to add some texture and taste to the spaghetti.

For the Cream style; we ordered the Creamy Oriental Popcorn (RM21.00).  The pasta that is used for this dish is the Linguine. For this dish, the Chef has infused an oriental touch to this dish by having the cream cooked with the fragrant curry leaves to give it a dash of spicy flavour. It is then topped with the deep fried popcorn chicken. According to the Chef, these popcorn are not the same as the commercially available but are in-house made by the chef using chicken tenders and are marinated by the Chef recipe.

For the mains; we decided on the Steak Diane (RM38.00). The Beef Fillet is cooked medium-well in classic Diane sauce and is accompanied by the sweet potato chip and sauteed vegetables.

To end our meal, we ordered the Chef's Signature Dessert (RM18.00) which is a fried soft dough and in it is the chilled avocado-lime paste, served with mix berry sauce and topped with cotton candy.

followed by a Strawberry Watermelon Blended fresh juice (RM15.00).

Champignons at Oasis Square Ara Damansara

Our review started with Amuse Bouche (Chef Delights) i.e. Croque Monsieur with a dash of truffled infused in the ham with a good combination of the cheese that is sandwiched with a crispy toast.

To start off our dinner, we had the Homemade Smoked Salmon With Citrus Salad. The smoked salmon is cured in-house by the Chef and the cut has a strong firm bite much like the sashimi texture instead of the soft mushy texture. It was a nice presentation of the salad which is bedded with a beetroot sauce and julienne apples with croutons and fried flatbread at the side to complement a multitude of texture to this salad starter.

For the soup, we ordered the Wild Mushroom Soup (RM18.00). The Chef uses 2 type of fresh mushrooms which is the button and oyster mushrooms. Yoghurt is used instead of cream to thicken up the soup texture while a piece of fried tempura oyster mushroom provides an interesting texture to the soup. The soup is served with a serving of bruschetta mushrooms which is topped with parmesan cheese.

Our next order is a sharing platter which is the Grilled US Pork Ribs With Plum Sake Glaze (RM25.00). We asked the Chef why he chooses the US Pork Ribs instead of local or Iberico pork. According to him, the US Pork has a better texture, fewer fats and are better taste compared even to the Iberico. We can feel that the meat texture was good and perfect for grilling. The marinade which has a hint of plum taste with a lemony flavour has us going for a second piece of the tender succulent pork ribs. It is then topped with fried pork rind to add to a crunchy feel to the dish.

For the night we tasted 2 main courses the first of which is the Black Truffle Chicken Breast (RM35.00). The chicken breast is marinated in white truffle oil that has the aroma lingering in our mouth. The use of white truffle oil instead of the conventional black truffle oil is due to the strong flavour of the white truffle oil. We were surprised by the texture of the Chicken Breast as most of the time, chicken breast tends to have a firm texture after cooking especially pan-fried, but here the Chef uses the sous-vide style to maintain a tender juicy texture of the chicken breast. Right before serving; a light pan-fried add to the crispy skin; while maintaining the juicy meat texture on the inside.

Our second main is the Australian Lamb Short Loin With Homemade Lamb Sausages (RM48.00). We particularly like the homemade lamb sausages which have a firm and bouncy texture. Premium meat from Australia; with minimum fats is marinated and used to make these sausages. The dish is served with salted baked onion with a carrot puree.

For desserts, we had the Champignons Chocolate Delights (RM18.00); a highly creative prepared dessert which resembles Mario mushrooms which are wrapped in a white chocolate on the top, the use of sponge cake that looks like moss and raspberries to create a magical adventure with various textures which include sparkly popping candy, raspberries jelly, raspberries sauce and lychee sherbet has us mesmerised.

Publika Food 4Play Seafood and Co

Opened barely less than 1 month, 4Play Seafood and Co is frequented for its seafood dishes especially to those that love crab dishes which comes with a few special flavours that are simply enticing and best eaten with fried mantao or just a plain bowl of steaming white rice.

Publika Food 4Play Seafood and Co

With a simple setting and an elaborate Chef that started at La Bodega and Two Sons Bistro; is in charge of the new menu at 4Play Seafood and Co. The menu is still undergoing some changes to some of its flavour that will cater to the crowds frequenting Publika.

Wild Mushroom Soup

Our review started with an order of Wild Mushroom Soup (RM20.00) which boasts the combination of the blended shitake, oyster and white mushroom which is simmered with a rich cream broth and drizzle with truffle oil that has a distinct mushroom flavour and taste.

Butter Garlic Mushrooms

Our next chef recommended appetizer is the Butter Garlic Mushrooms (RM21.00). The Chef has a penchant for dishing perfectly executed mushroom dishes. Here again; like our soup, it has a strong mushroom flavour which is enhanced by the use of a blended butter, garlic and basil sauce.

Golden Salted Eggs Yolk Chicken

Next on, we move on to order some Golden Salted Eggs Yolk appetizer, the first of which is the Chicken Golden Salted Eggs Yolk(RM25.00). The Chicken meat is lightly battered with Salted Eggs Yolk and sauteed with curry leaves, onions, chilli padi and chilli flakes which leaves a strong curry flavour.

Golden Salted Eggs Yolk Prawns

This Golden Salted Egg Yolks dish can also be ordered with Prawns (RM28.00) as the base ingredients. The deshell prawns made it easy to be eaten as an appetiser. But for some, you may order some white rice to go with this salted egg yolk dish.

Calamari Golden Salted Eggs

While for the squid lovers, there is the Calamari Golden Salted Eggs (RM25.00). All these salted eggs dishes are best to be eaten with an icy cold draught beer as it has that slightly salty taste of the salted duck eggs but fans of the salted will relish on these offerings.

Creamy Spinach Stuffed Mushroom

Another one of the Chef popular dishes is the Creamy Spinach Stuffed Mushroom (RM22.00) as a starter. Using portobello mushroom as the base; it is topped with flame cheese that melted and encompasses the filling.

Spicy Chilli Mussels

Next, we move on to some Chef speciality seafood dishes, the first of which is the Spicy Chilli Mussels (RM35.00). This dish has a slightly spicy sourish taste. We were recommended to eat this with the Toasted Garlic Bread to scoop up the chilli sauce.

Creamy Butter Chilli and Curry Leaves Clams

This is then followed by the Creamy Butter Chilli and Curry Leaves Clams (RM30.00). I personally like this flavour which has a strong aroma and coupled with the freshness of the Clam, it was a real treat and for this, we ordered a bowl of white rice to finish off the creamy buttery flavourful sauce.

Coconut Cream and Chilli Crab

The Star of 4Play Seafood and Co is the Coconut Cream and Chilli Crab (RM75.00). Each order of the seafood dishes is at the weight of 500 gram. The sauce was quite good which went perfectly with an order of Fried mantao as the dip.  Customers have a choice to order the crab, clams or mussels dishes with others flavours (all in 6 different sauce base) as well; with the sides of white rice, toasted garlic beard or fried mantao to go with these seafood dishes.

Jalapeno, Sundried Tomato, Cream Cheese Stuffed Chicken

Our final main dish is the Jalapeno, Sundried Tomato, Cream Cheese Stuffed Chicken (RM35.00). For this dish; there is a tad of saltiness to my taste. If you like to eat less salty taste; please make sure to have the chef reduce its saltiness during your order. For me; it would have been ideal to use the thigh drumstick quarters for this as it has a more tender and juicy meat texture.
