BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara - Korean BBQ With Cheese Dipping

There are many Korean BBQ Restaurant coming out of late; one of the latest joining this bandwagon is BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara located at 48 Jalan SS 21/58, Damansara Uptown 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Since the shop is located at an intermediate corner, it has some space by the side of the restaurant where one can dine al-fresco taking in the full aroma of freshly BBQ and grill food.

For those that would like to dine in the comfort of the air-conditioning; can proceed to the indoor dining areas where the smoke chimney which are prefix to the ceiling is available to vacuum out the smoke emanating from the grill.

One of the common offerings of all Korean BBQ is its daily side dishes which are offered unlimited refill to all its patrons. These side dishes are changed on a rotational basis, although a couple of popular side dishes which are the crowd favourite will be available most of the days.

At BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara, a special side dish which is Jap Chee - Korean Glass Noodles is only available on Friday and Saturday night. We love the Jap Chee here as it was cooked with the right flavouring. We ordered 4 rounds of this simple dish.

BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara offers diners to choose either a la carte grill or set packages. We ordered the Set For 2 RM79.00 which comes with Sliced Pork Belly, Pork Ribs Marinated in Soy Sauce, Spicy Grilled Pork Belly and Kimchi Stew.

We like the pork belly which has a tinge of salty taste that would make the best fit with white rice.

One of the others special offering is the cheese dipping, where you can dip your freshly grilled BBQ item into the hot cheese that is served upon request.

Diners can choose either to BBQ by yourself at the table,

or you can ask the Chef to do it for you. Frankly speaking, we tried both and the verdict is for the Chef to grill it which has a balance charred and retaining the right texture of the juicy meat.

To satisfy our cravings for more BBQ item, we ordered the ala carte Pork Skirt Meat (RM23.00).

For those that loves a bit more bouncy fats, these cut of meat might suit you better.

and the Hunje Ori Gui (Grilled Duck) RM 28.00. We were told that the duck breast meat was precooked quite like how they prepare the smoked duck.

It was very flavourful when it was grilled with a slightly salty taste. This came with a Mustard dipping sauce which went perfectly well with the taste of the grilled duck meat.

Besides BBQ grilled items, BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara also offers other traditional favourite Korean dishes where you can order a la carte; like the Pork Rib Stew (RM 20.00). The soup based was made with stewing of the pork ribs for a couple of hours to extract out the full meaty flavours together with the use of chillies flakes, mustard seeds and gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) as the base ingredients.

Next, we had the Buckwheat Noodle Soup(Cold) with Grilled Pork (RM22.00). I personally like the texture and the taste of the cold noodle. For those that loves the taste of mustard, you can request the staff to bring you some in-house made mustard sauce that can be added to this noodle. It has the strong pungent taste that I like, with the cold noodles.

Next is the Spicy Rice Ball (RM18.00). Serve in a bowl, the customer can do this rice ball by mixing the ingredients which are the shredded seaweed, with a special Kim Chi sauce, sesame seed and white rice. You can eat it as it is or for some, you can grill it to a crisp.

BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara also serves an assortment of flavoured Korean Soju for you to taste and enjoy with your hot BBQ dishes.

or you can try out the others Korean Beverage that is sold at BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara.

Although BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab Uptown Damansara has been opened for only 3 months, there is a crowd waiting in queue especially on Friday and Saturday night. If you really want to go on those days, you either goes earlier so that you can get a table or better still avoid those days so that you can really enjoy the taste and company for your take of Korean BBQ.

Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant KL Imbi - Traditional Style Dim Sum Dishes

There are not many Chinese restaurants in KL Golden Triangle that serve traditional Dim Sum. One such restaurant is the Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant located at along Kampung Pandan (next to TREC KL) with ample parking place. Founded in 1999, this restaurant has been around for more than 17 years started off from Jalan Imbi, building a reputation for its' delectable and delicious spread of Chinese dishes with live seafood where you can pick and choose the freshest seafood to be served.

Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant offer diners with an option of open dining and private function that has a banquet ballroom that can cater up to 2000 pax per function.

Our review for today is the Dim Sum selection. Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant offers dim sum recipe originating from both northern and southern regions of China, local specials and the Chef's own creations that can satisfy most Dim Sum aficionados.

As usual, for all of us, we started with the Steam Dim Sum selection. Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant offers an ala-carte Dim Sum Menu of more than 30 dishes which you can order. Upon an order being made; the server will serve you piping hot Dim Sum to your table. The first to arrive on the table is the Crystal Prawn Dumpling (RM 8.00).

followed by the Steamed Fish Paste (RM 6.50).

the Steamed Pork Ribs With Black Beans Sauce (RM 7.00)

Beancurd Rolls

the special made Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (RM 8.50).

and the Steamed Rice Roll With BBQ Pork (RM 8.50) to end our Steam Dim Sum selection.

Next section is the Fried & Baked Dim Sum which the first was the Deep Fried Special Prawn Roll
(RM 8.50) which came with a special dipping sauce.

Followed by the Crispy Golden Bag (RM 8.50)

Special Crispy Yam Puff (RM 7.00)

Deep Fried Carrot Cake (RM 7.50) topped with meat floss; a unique twist on this dish.

Crispy Cheese Prawn Roll (RM 8.50)

and the Deep Fried Prawn Roll With Golden Sauce (RM8.50) to end this Dim Sum section.

We decided to venture to try out some of the signature dishes that are offered by Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant; one of which is the Curry Grouper (RM12 Per 100gm). According to the manager, you can choose the type of fish or part of the fish (eg Fish Head For Curry and the fish body for steam) for this Curry. We were amazed at the first taste of this curry which was served with an assortment of condiment which includes; the brinjal, long beans, tofu puffs (tofu pok), ladies fingers, and tomatoes. Although we were already quite full from the Dim Sum selection; the curry sauce was so good that we cannot let the sauce goes to waste. We just had to order white rice which needless to say was the perfect way to savour delicious curries.

If you still have some stomach space, you can also order the special Roasted Duck (RM 48.00) - promotion price which was roasted to have a crispy skin with a nice meat texture.

Although serving traditional Dim Sum, the desserts served at Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant begs to differ as the Dim Sum Chef has infused some western eastern fusion dessert which caught us a little surprised. The first desserts are the Sweet & Sour Jelly With Lime Sorbet (RM 8.00), this was the all round favourite; as it has a sweet, sourish and refreshing taste that aid our digestion from the overwhelming dishes that we had earlier.

Next, we had the Special Pomelo Sago Cream (RM 10.00)

followed by the Special Honeydew Sago Cream (RM 8.00)

and lastly the Tropical Mango Pudding (RM 10.00).

The Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant with banqueting facilities can host your next private function; if you are planning to get married; you can also call them for the latest Golden Dragon Boat Restaurant wedding package.
