Butaya Izakaya 豚家居酒屋 Sri Hartamas Japanese Food - Casual Japanese Dining

Sri Hartamas is a very happening place and finding a casual Japanese restaurant that serves Japanese food can be a real task. We recently found out this new place Butaya Izakaya Sri Hartamas Japanese Restaurant located at 14, Jalan Sri Hartamas 8, Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur. Link to Butaya Izakaya Facebook

One of the first stress relieving matters when dining at Butaya is the ample parking place in this little-hidden area in Sri Hartamas which is famous for difficulty in finding a place to park.

Next; the decor at Butaya Izakaya Sri Hartamas is one that offers a simple no frill Japanese decor with stools type of casual dining which you can see families dining here as well.

There are many choices of Japanese cuisine that you can choose from at Butaya Izakaya; notably the sashimi offering, Udon, Ramen, Salad and so forth. But, for me; what stands out is the Yakitori selection that you can choose from.

As a fan of pork we just felt satisfied with the different Yakitori pork offering (from RM4 onwards) which includes multiple choices of different parts of the pork which includes the innards offering like liver, kidney and etc which is not offered in other Japanese Restaurant.

The other things that I like about Yakitori meals are that these dishes are the perfect compliment with a nice cold beer or sake after a hard day at work. With a simple salt, sprinkles combine with the aroma of a freshly charcoal grill is magical enough to revive your senses.

One of the key features of an Izakaya is the offering of multiple snack dishes, we have the chance to sample a few of them i.e. the Cucumber Wih Sesame Dressing (RM8.00); As it is served chilled; this snack dish is perfect to start off for our long night.

Next, we had the Spinach Dashi (RM7.00), which is a specially concocted dashi sauce served with boiled Spinach with sprinkles of sesame seeds and julienne seaweed.

Followed by a special Luncheon Meat Tamago (RM12.00).

We particularly like the next snack dish which is Pork Karrage (RM14.00) which has a crisp on the outside and tender juicy pork meat on the inside. Served with finely chop cabbages with mayo sauce on the side.

After this, we had the crunchy and crackling Fried Pork Skin (RM9.00) which was perfect with the cold beer that we had ordered.

The other non-fried snack dish is the Boiled Salted Pork Belly Slice with Spicy Miso sauce (RM15.00); another chilled dish offering.

For Gyoza fans, you can taste the Pan Fried Gyoza (RM14.00).

Another Luncheon Meat based dish is the Luncheon Meat Egg Pizza (RM15.00).

The last dish of the snack food that we had is the Takoyaki (RM12.00).

After the snack food, we also tried out the other dish offering which is the special Sashimi selection (RM75.00)

and for those that love Pork Kidney (including yours truly) can try out this stir fried delicacy.

and for those heavy eaters; can order the Tonkatsu Ramen (RM22.00) or other choices of Ramen and Don that are available at Butaya Izakaya to filled up your tummy.

Our personal dining experience at Butaya Izakaya is one of a laissez faire where we can have a leisure taste of snack dishes with a drink; while catching out with friends and families for a long night of simple delight.

Kennys Food Cart @ Aman Suria Petaling Jaya Selangor

It's been quite some I have not patronised Kennys Food Cart stall located in the alley of Jalan SS2/4a, Taman Bahagia. 3 months ago, I bought my family to taste out the popular Teng Chai Chuk (porridge), and they really like this special porridge. We were told by Kenny that they will be relocating to a place in a month or two.

As my wife was an avid fan, we got news that they have moved to Aman Suria. They retain the food cart concept in this restaurant setup to provides its customer with a more comfortable atmosphere for dining in as compared to the stalls days where it is determined by nature.

K-G-11 Jalan PJU 1/43 Aman Suria
Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Most of the food serve here are the same when they were at Taman Bahagia stall except for some adds on rice dishes.

Of course, one must taste out the Signature Teng Chai Chuk (RM 8.00). The porridge has many condiments that are added into it which includes anchovies, fried nuts, lots of scallions, cut fried fish paste and century eggs.

The next porridge is the Fish Paste Porridge (RM 8.00). The porridge is served with a soft texture fish paste.

There is a number of snacks food that is served at Kennys Food Cart among them are the Deep Fried Fish Paste (5 pcs for RM 4) which you can eat it with the porridge or noodles or on its own.

Next, we had the Fish Head Soup Noodles (RM 9.50). At Kennys the fish head is fried to a deep crisp and served separately. My preference for Fish Head Noodles is for the fried fish to be cooked with the noodles as this will add more taste to the broth.

Another one of the signature dishes is the Cantonese-Style 'Loh See Fun' (RM8.00) which is cooked in a sauce much like the Cantonese Ying Yeong but with a slightly bland taste. It is cooked with minced pork meat and topped with the Fried Dried Shrimp. I like the fried dried shrimp which has a slightly salty taste which blended well and gives a nice flavour to the mouse noodles.

One of the new addition is the Stewed Soy Chicken (RM 7.90) which is served with an egg and a bowl of rice. A meal all by itself.

You can also check out the other dishes of Kennys Food Cart menu as above.

Carlsberg Brewery Tour Shah Alam Selangor - Probably The Best Brewery Tour

Ever wondered how beer is produced, we recently got an invitation for an exclusive VIP brewery tour of Carlsberg Brewery in Shah Alam Selangor Malaysia. This visit is in conjunction with the Probably The Best Brewery Tour Campaign. For more information how you can win an all expenses Probably The Best Brewery Tour

Carlsberg hosted a VIP brewery tour ex-beer-ience giving members of the media a sneak preview of Probably the Best Brewery Tour in advance of its first batch of contest winners. While touring Probably the Best Brew House and experiencing Probably the Best Lounge in its brewery in Shah Alam, Carlsberg also unveiled the first grand-prize and first-prize winners of Probably the Best Brewery Tour consumer promotion held in conjunction with its 170th global birthday celebration.

“The 170th anniversary of Carlsberg is a chance for us to pay tribute to the beer that is ‘always sharing’. It is all about the science that comes from beer knowledge and the art that brews high-quality beers from natural ingredients. Through Probably the Best Brewery Tour campaign, we celebrate Probably the Best Beer in the World, Carlsberg,” Lars Lehmann, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia shared.

“We will reward 20 consumers to explore Carlsberg’s 170 years of beer discoveries in its homeland in Copenhagen and another 1,800 consumers to see, touch, smell and taste the quality natural ingredients of our brews through a VIP brewery tour ex-beer-ience in Shah Alam,” Lehmann added
.

From the moment we set foot at Probably the Best Lounge, we were greeted by beautiful brand ambassadors serving a buffet of welcome brews that consists of Carlsberg Smooth Draught, Somersby Apple Cider, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc and premium Connor’s Stout Porter.

Upon learning more about the Carlsberg Malaysia’s brewery and brands through an insightful and interesting presentation by Marketing Director Charles Wong, we were chauffeured in a luxury MPV to Carlsberg’s gallery at the production plant.

The media entourage had the chance to see, touch, smell and taste the beer at Probably the Best Brew House – a normally restricted area. At the sensory experience room, members of the press were briefed on the aroma of hops, the taste profile of yeast and the look of beer liquid with and without purification.

“Nowadays, there are more discerning beer drinkers who care about what makes of a lager or stout,” said Piotr Zajac, Master Brewer cum Supply Chain Director of Carlsberg Malaysia. "They want to know what are the ingredients used and how it is made."

While many know that wine comes from grapes, "very few actually know that Carlsberg beer comes from natural quality ingredients – namely malt/barley, hops, yeast and water" said Zajac. “Inviting consumers into our brewhouse to learn more about the natural quality ingredients and the art of brewing, bottling and packaging is an excellent way to showcase our brews."
