Sandakan Food Festival 2019: From 13th to 15th September 2019, the Sandakan Food Festival will have food events spread across Sandakan Town which includes cooking and baking competitions, cooking workshops, food demos, food & craft events and culminating in the Grand Food Festival Village setup at Bandar Kim Fung, a lively suburb 10 minutes’ drive from the city centre.
We are here to witness the launching of this annual food event in Sandakan. At the site ground zero Bandar Kim Fung, they were a huge crowd of foodies waiting in anticipation to taste out dishes that are prepared by the hotels, restaurants, cafes and eating outlets throughout Sandakan.

2nd Sandakan Food Festival 2019 - Official Launching At Bandar Kim Fung Sandakan Sabah
The Sandakan Food Festival 2019 edition was launched by Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board Director - Puan Jamilah Abdul Halim.
The air of festivities at the site is coupled with a special performance and entertainment gigs like K-Pop dancing and more which sets the night for a joyous celebration.
Guests were able to savour dishes that are both halal and non-halal at the festival. We witness first-hand experience; the different culture and people from all over Sandakan that converge to the site during these 3 days to savour the amazing dishes which includes Musang King Cendol, Chicken Chop, UFO tarts and more.
Besides the food dishes, there are also booths that sell fresh local agriculture produce.
During the 3 days events, there are other food-related competitions and lucky draw that are held nightly at the site.
Everyone that left the festival had the tummies filled to the brim. Children and adults join in the fun by taking part in the activities like the UFO tarts eating competition that were organized by the organizer.

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2020, I believe the 3rd Sandakan Food Festival 2020 edition will be an even bigger event and are looking forward to attending it.
